Why are rifle bullets pointy and pistol bullets round? Also why does Jow Forums hate the word bullets?

I hate the words "I'm out of bullets"

why are you a faggot? the world will never know......

fucking newfag. its because rifles have more muzzle velocity so their bullets can be pointy for extra penetration power on armored targets. pistols have less muzzle velocity so you dont break your hands using them therefore their bullets wouldnt make use of the pointyness. theyre round so that when you hit the head (where you should be aiming for with a pistol, they dont do any damage anywhere else) the bullet can deflect off the back of the skull and remain inside the head therefore guaranteeing an instant kill. imagine loading a clip of pointy 9mm, shooting at someone and missing by just a bit, now you have a pointy bullet imapled on the side of someone's skull and it doesnt guarantee that the enemy is down.

This

what about "I'm bullets of out."?

Nice b8

rifle rounds are pointy to decrease their drag coefficient to allow for better ranged combat
as a bonus, a long skinny bullet will tumble better when it hits the target

round nose ammo tends to be cheaper and they are more compact for the same mass, as they arent as long
they also impart more energy on the target, so if your round isnt fast enough to tumble then this might be a good thing

Jow Forums hates the word "bullet" when you refer to the whole round
the bullet is the part that hits people, the round in your gun is composed of a bullet, a brass casing, powder, and primer, stuff other than a bullet
in context, if someone says "im out of bullets" it isnt a super big deal because even if he was autistically literal, a casing with no bullet isnt very useful, but its still better to be accurate if you can

Physics.
Pistol bullets need to make up for low velocity with extra bullet mass.
Rifle bullets need to go fast and far for their purposes .

Some rifle bullets are round, and some pistol bullets are pointy, but usually rifle bullets are pointy to minimize aerodynamic drag. Pistol bullets travel much slower and over shorter distances, so ballistic efficiency is not as important.

Why?

But if you are shooting muzzleloaders couldn't this be a correct statement?

OP is always a faggot but how is OP a faggot in this specific thread?

Is this correct? It sounds convincing, except the misuse of the word clip. I'm not sure if that was a joke and the rest of the post is valid, or if this post is a newfag who doesn't know anything.

FUCK, PASS ME A CLIP BRO IM OUT OF BULLETS

Well if you're out of rounds, you're also out of bullets, right? Or do you bring extra cases and gunpowder with you to your battles?

>as a bonus, a long skinny bullet will tumble better when it hits the target
What does 'tumble' mean? Why would you want a bullet to 'tumble'?

This is a good answer.

Here you are

fucking retard newfag. lurk more or read a book

when a buller tumbles, it spins on an axis rather than simply going straight through
since a sharply tapered round is much heavier at the rear than the front, it will much more easily begin tumbling and cause more tissue damage as when the bullet flips over, it causes a wide oblong wound channel instead of a clean stab wound

handguns cant cause this effect reliably, and so use wider rounds with a round tip to cause a wider wound channel to compensate

Coz then u gotta buy more

It's a crutch for people whose rifles don't automatically flip the bullets sideways as they reach the expected target range.
