If you HAD to decide between .458 SOCOM or .50 Beowulf for a meme upper that would never be used for hunting, which would you choose and why?

I'd just buy a levergun at that point.

Neither.

I went with 458 Socom
It’s just a drop in upper.
No special magazines or springs or buffers.
Also, the bullet selection of better in my opinion. You can use most any 45-70 bullet, where as 50 is basically handgun bullets only.
If you don’t reload, then the 458 is not for you.

.458 SOCOM solely because I'd reload it and it's easier and to find projectiles for than .50 Beowulf

would you guys happen to have a ballpark cost per round with reloading?
I don't reload but my father in law does and he has an insane set up, so reloading .458 wouldn't be out of the ballpark of possibilities.

I use scrap lead to cast and powder coat and lil’gun, I’m around 15cpr. Another good thing about 458 is the pressure is so freaking low that brass lasts till you lose it.

15cpr? jesus christ thats fucking cheap.
What upper do you have?

Same reason I would go for .450 instead, but if I wanted a real big bore to fuck around with it would be a .45 Raptor in a small frame AR10

I also have a ProStaff Shotgun Hunter 2-7x32 BDC200 scope on it.
Works pretty well.

These if u don’t wanna cast. Nosler even has load data

Best brass price
Buy 200 for free ship

Don’t worry about trimming the brass.
It will actually shrink as you use it.
If you use the Noslers I posted, don’t load the rim to the cannalure
Don’t expect better than about 2.5MOA.
Even at that, it’s a potent hog thumper.

Look up all of the “Full Lead Taco” videos on YouTube

Thanks a ton user, I greatly appreciate it. I've bookmarked the ammo related stuff and I'm joining the forum now.

If you do wanna cast and shoot subsonic, this is basically the best thing out there.
You gotta powder coat, but it’s cheap and easy

Use a Lee 90373 mold for 340gr “light” loads

Have fun and get into casting! It makes 458 very cheap!

Oh, and get the little rubber dickmod covers like in my pic Trust me.

45 Raptor because fuck .22 cal

>50 Beo
>458SOCOM
>45 Raptor
One of these things is not like the others
Pretty sure OP is looking for AR15 compatable rounds, not AR10
