Sub 20" AR's

Imagine using a AR with a barrel less then 20" long, imagine using m855 ammo as well.

16"mid gas is best gas

Hamplanet OP wants to feel better about himself.

I don’t have to imagine it. I can DO IT.

Good job

Allrighty then recommend us a good upper. 20 inch 1:8 or 1:9 twist, preferably flat top. Alread have a carry handle hat needs a new home.

20" barrels are indisputably superior.

is the plebeians choice but still far better than a ghastly 16" on a carbine gas system.

Yes, the 100-150 FPS loss in muzzle velocity is not worth all of an inch and a half off an already carbine length barrel

Balances beautifully.

Why does your stock look like it was mauled by a dog

user, that poster seems to believe A2 is defined by the sight/carry handle. Give him a moment.

Cause it is a M16a2 surplus buttstock.

It's been engraved with different numbers.

you should beat yourself to death with it

it could be a lot worse

And what does your 14.5" accomplish apart from not being a substitute for an 11.5"

Your knowledge is shit and you should feel bad.

>Implying pencil barrels are inherently bad

Attached: 1387209865212.jpg (480x480, 45K)

I don't need to SBR a 14.5" with a permanently attached muzzle device. Lighter weight though compared to 16" mid, although my pic isn't a light weight setup.
I can't really tell a difference in recoil between carbine and mid length so that doesn't matter to me, so I'll choose the shortest oal without having to put a brace on it.
I'll be honest though, my 20" rifle length is the most enjoyable AR i have to shoot. I just prefer a shorter setup which is why i stand by 14.5" carbine gas being the best gas

it's ugly as fuck, and 16" + fixed stock is the worst of both worlds. Get a 20 + fixed or a 20 + adjustable like the canadians.
there's nothing wrong with fixed stocks or pencil barrels on their own. The hogue grips are fucking uggo too and not very good on rifles.

Redpill me on m193. I bought a thousand green tips because they were 25 cpr. Why should my next thousand be m193?

M193 typically results in better fragmentation, tumbling, and/or yawing after impact as its light, 55 grain bullet travels faster than the heavier, 62 grain "green tip" of M855/SS109. However, since M193 was optimized for the SAAMI 223 chamber and 1:12 twist of the original, 20" M16A1, you may find it performing differently out of your carbine chambered in 5.56 NATO (presumably 1:7 twist), but almost certainly better than M855

Fuck the haters, I like your gun, keep posting it

ive handled a gun set up like this. despite looking horrible the balance and feel is top tier.

You may not like it, but the midlength gas system with the A5 buffer system is what peak performance looks like

It's the best 5.56 you can get and is the cheapest.

I admire your budget optic, what upper is it

>A5 buffer
Bruh, a flat wire spring and H buffer costs like $50 at most

Poorfag alert

Just buy the A5, its fucking good. Muh hebby buffer and muh spring just as good is a meme, and guess what, you can still do that shit within the A5 to make it even better! Buy it poors. Its a $100 upgrade that reduces parts wear.

I opted for the hammer forged, government profile for the "bump firing" (wink) I do and the full length QRF because it will always be 2012 in my heart and also fuck KeyMod

I dunno if its a spelling coincidence but that does look kind of like the AR-C in Far Cry 5

Seconded now that I realize it is not an M7 Bayonet

Old C7 bayonet?

Also, C8 is so aesthetic

Are bull barrels worth the extra money or are they just needlessly heavy?

Do you want your barrel spazzing around like a retard or not?

Whered you get it? I wound up getting a RRA A2 kit and its cheaper made than the PSA A2 buttstock I used to have. I've searched all over and not been able to find any surplus A2 stocks. I hate the grey color. The handguards on this old DPMS upper I'm turning into a 741 clone are a nice worn black color and the stock clashes so badly

No matter what Meme tip the murines or army put on their cartridges, they well never match the yaw of a very fast 5.56.

how are you liking that sig dot?

20" barrels, fragmentation, and velocity-fagging are shit-tier. 18" is the longest a 5.56 barrel should be.

The frag range for 20" is around 200 yards, and 18" is 170 yards

no, it's like 130 yards 20" and 100 yards 16" with cheap m193. Using good fragmenters brings those ranges way up though.

I was using m855 in my example

I think thats even shorter m8

What is the velocity needed for m855 to fragment then? I thought it was 2500fps

Never participated in such a thing, I was already told some trip who goes by Shark has the same build I do? Maybe budget PEN-15s really are indistinguishable

I think 16 inch is the sweet spot.

>you may find it performing differently out of your carbine chambered in 5.56 NATO (presumably 1:7 twist), but almost certainly better than M855
I just got a 20" a4 upper with a 1:7 twist but have fuckhueg piles of m193 because my other not shitty ar is an a1 clone, what should I expect shooting 55gr out of such a barrel?

Imagine being a fucking retard

20-inch, pencil profile is master race.

Attached: Colt_AR-15_SP1.jpg (4032x1208, 1.52M)

Does m193 ball actually have performance to live up to the meme out of a 20in barrel?

Agreed

Not him, but mine is doing well after a few mags. Nice sight picture and doesnt add too much weight to the rifle.

Also I like that it comes with both a tall and low mount.

What's wrong with babbys first ar15 Delton?
Whats better at a similar price point?

FN-15 Carbine.

Attached: FN-15 carbine 2014.jpg (1000x310, 48K)

Almost at a year and its still going strong after being left out in the rail and mud overnight, dropped, and I finally put a really good zero on it recently and its super accurate now. Overall for $120 its 10/10

Wait, what state are you in then if you don't mind my asking. Rolling for Florida

Attached: WhatsApp Image 2019-02-23 at 12.15.50 PM.jpg (1200x1600, 398K)

Not free-floated? 1-2 moa, maybe 3 if your gun just doesnt agree with them (some barrels like some loads more than others). It will be about the same as any other twist unless we're talking about something like a match barrel with a slow twist.
With heavy match ammunition 0.8-2 moa.
The twist rates giving poorer accuracy is over rated and is only a trend you can might be able to find in match barrels doing bulls eye shoots

20" are better plus more aesthetic.

Attached: merry_carry_handle.jpg (1024x731, 131K)

>MSRP 1149 for a basic AR
you literally payed 4x as much than you should have.

quad rails are peak aesthetic, mlock may be better but fuck quad rails look good.

2nd, paying that much for a carbine gas POS without even a 14.5" barrel is retarded. You could've got a BCM with a bunch of nice shit for that price

Not a similar price point

Check out my sweet A1 clone
*It ain't me intensifies*

Attached: j1JLvsw.jpg (1200x783, 206K)

Personally, I think the A2s are the best looking ARs. For some reason I don't really like the M4 look. It's almost like someone put zero effort into making it. And all the aftermarket parts just add insult to injury (extremely confusing and you would just be wasting more money putting lipstick on a metaphorical pig)

>inb4 muh capitalism
I've already harped about this before. Humans are normally happier when they have a smaller variety of goods to work with. It's not as overwhelming to deal with for both the consumer and company, as long as the company understands what the consumer is wanting in their products. Why do you think gun buyers were so quick to buy up all the supply of Mosins?

Attached: 1504057714163_capture~2.png (317x230, 142K)

oh boy

Why are there hardly any 14.5" or 16" barrels with dissipator length gas systems?

m855 loses velocity past 20 inches of barrel with a slight rebound under the 20 from 23-24. Basically you're retarded going more than 20 inches long as well.

why are your controls and pins white, why does your magazine have screws in it, and why do you have a 9mm brass deflector on it.

true dissipators have some reliability issues, and mock dissipators are just silly, and they aren't a very in demand design in general.

I always had the idea this is what you do with dissipators. Although I guess the back pressure from a can would suffice?

Bruh, come to the mlok side, the weight savings are significant. My 18" barrell with about 16 " of m lol shroud is lighter than my buddies 16"barrell with 8-10" quad rails.

food for thought.

I'm not in Florida, no. I never post outside of Jow Forums or YouTube, there's no way we know of each other

I would have gone with m-lok had it not been for the lips shrouding the barrel. It hurts my autism
