OP it says "underrated cartridges" but I don't see any here

40. S&W

the 5.7 is literally the greatest pistol cartridge ever created

.32 acp and .380acp.

>ITT: underrated cartridges
starts off thread with overrated cartridge

It's literally .22 WMR.

It has better bullets, a case design that doesn't rimlock, and a centerfire primer. Those advantages are huge.

.22-250. It wont even be a consideration for most guys but itll drop hogs and yotes with a vengeance

no shit it drops hogs and yotes with a vengeance, given a cartridge with half its velocity will already do that.

25-06 Remington is actually the ideal deer hunting round

.700 Nitro Express
There's no kill like over-kill.

.32 ACP. Negligible recoil, enough penetration to reliably reach vitals, just enough punch to reliably be able to punh through bone. There's a reason it was a popular military pistol cartridge in the early XX century.

.32acp

.280 British
rest in peace, you were too good for this world...

Attached: 280.jpg (2400x1162, 371K)

noguns

.280 British is generally considered a decent 'what-if' cartridge on Jow Forums

>even despite those anons that have a constant, insufferable hateboner for all things British

218 bee

more like 9mm and 38 special is overrated

.44 special

What does .44 Special do that 10mm doesn't?

Asking for real.

Nothing really, but that's basically true of most non-mangum handgun rounds.

5.7 for armored targets. 10mm for soft.

7.5x55 Swiss.

300 Blacked
What .308 is to .30-06, at .50BMG proportions.
.45 Super

Attached: 1532239878708.gif (800x468, 682K)

yeah, I guess I read underrated more like underutilized.

6.5x55
with the proper bullet can cleanly kill pretty much any non-African non-dangerous game. also a good long-range precision cartridge.

6.5 scandahoovian

Attached: Image-Swede.jpg (750x562, 39K)

7.65 browning is fucking excellent. Recoil is basically zero from my VZ61, good enough for a point black defensive piece for civvy uses; a keltec p32 is so small and light you can walk around with it tucked into your boxers in your bedroom without it budging.

buy a case of 32acp and you'll be able to shoot more centerfire handguns than any other caliber.

just wish it was cheaper than 9mm. every once in a while I can get close, but usually its >45acp in price.

380 and 40 are just not worth the benefits of the half step away from 9mm.

if you want to go smaller, go 32acp. if you want to go bigger, go 10mm

body armor is better than it was when it was designed. might as well step over to 4.6x30

>4.6x30
objectively and demonstrably worse than 5.7 in every way, forcing HK to abandon it.

Attached: 327-Federal-2-300x285.jpg (300x285, 19K)

.22 Moon Orbital

(Different guy) I would absolutely go with a .32 ACP pistol, but there aren't any new production guns that 1) are good quality 2) will run any and all .32 ACP 3) not crazy expensive

>4 bore.

Go big or go home.

.454 casull

Attached: DSCF0326.jpg (1600x1200, 606K)

Fucking brilliant cartridge. and will take down all scandinavian game.

No shit sherlock.

nothing. Answering for real.

walther ppk

.260 Remington
.17 Hornet
25-06
To name a few

>new production
nope, not in .32 ACP

More energy and more frontal area.

This is unrelated to whether or not it's noticeably better at killing things.

>and will take down all scandinavian game.
So will pretty much every other centerfire rifle cartridge on the planet.

Not from a 100m, which is one of the rquirements of beeing called a big game cartridge.

Phased plasma rifle in the 25 watt range.
Sure it's got less punch, but better rate of fire and far less wear on your power cells.

>9mm is overrated
Good performance, easy to find and cheap as fuck, yet everyone hates on it. Sounds overrated to me.

>all this 32ACP love
Genuinely the best compact carry caliber. The CZ83 needs an update and a comeback in this caliber. Compact easy to carry gun with 15 rounds of extremely low recoil ammunition that is still effective. They just need to give it a decocker and night sights.

I bought a bunch of boxes of these. Box of 50 for just over $8. Haven’t had any failures.

Beretta Cheetah

>plasma
If you want your face burned off. Just stick with a lasgun

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Ruger needs an LCP II in .32 ACP.

internet hating isnt an indicator. like ar15s, they get so much online flak but everybody fucking has one

The biggest game animal in your region is your version of a moose, which averages under 1000lbs. At 100m, a fucking .220 Swift is plenty.

Best rimfire round ever created

Attached: 71338i_ts.jpg (1155x1155, 37K)

Of course, there's always That Fremen who turns on his shield as a joke and gets everyone nuked.

10mm

It should be as popular as .357, and %50 less expensive.

It's quite simply the most versatile pistol round on earth. From bears, to soft armor wearing feds, to dindus, it can kill it all

I wish saami would make a +p specification for it though, something like 44000 psi like the original max pressure loads.

Ew, its 10mm but retarded

Redpill me on .327.
Why was it created?

Ma nigga

The goal is to increase the capacity of a small-frame revolver but still have a "magnum" cartridge. Because of its smaller diameter you can fit more rounds of .327 in a given cylinder size than you can .38 or .357.

Thanks

Look at the ballistics of the two. 4.6 is worse. Why work backwards? Read before you speak

no it isn't, 22 wmr is only going like 1200 fps out of a 5" barrel, 5.7 can be as high as 2500 out of a handgun

Attached: 1544207333603.jpg (1024x904, 80K)

.357 Remington Maximum

AKA 357 supermag. Damn good cartridge. So is the .445 supermag.

a glock 19 with 22 round 32 auto flush mags

.17 Remington.

Why most handgun rounds are not spitzer bullets?

>all dem .32 configurations

I really need to load up some H&r wadcutters

Y-your wrists man

Spitzer bullets main purpose is to reduce drag. That's great for long-range shooting like you might do with a rifle, but it's meaningless for the kind of distances handguns are used for.

Also, the long shape of the spitzer bullet takes up a ton of room. That's a major concern for a hangun where the rounds usually fit inside the grip.

.32 s&w long

Attached: 1551807189139.png (234x200, 77K)

I've got an MR73 in that caliber, it's as accurate as a .22 olympic pistol. Given that it's overbuilt even more than a ruger, I've been tempted to cook up some +P+ ammo for it, I'm sure I could hit .327 mag territory without getting anywhere near close to the proof limit.

Hey don't knock em. Those are fun to shoot.

>5.7 can be as high as 2500 out of a handgun
Whew lad

The .41 Magnum
It can do everything the .44 can and better a lot of the time.

Also the .41AE
Basically .40 S&W before it came out.

Attached: swagnum.jpg (745x419, 134K)

.270 WIN

2500 out of a p90, 1500 from the fiveseven.

I would say 6.5 Grendel. Very good in 12" - 18" barrels.

Attached: 282b205f-8dd2-4061-8728-dde5e4ab4c30_zpsuqnm5t2u.jpg (1024x532, 551K)

That's one of the most popular fudd calibers. If anything, it's overrated.

Came here to post this. Low recoil in light rifles, flat trajectory good terminal effect for 1 shot kills.

How does the 6.5 grendel compare with the 6.8 spc?

Attached: Big Think.jpg (1000x904, 119K)

338-06

7.62x45(dead)
5.45(dying, hopefully coming back?)
32acp
maybe 35 remington and .25-08

10mm btfos soft armor better then 5.7

Is that still made?

Using Federal's ballistic calculator, I picked the highest BC for this set.
6.8 S - 115gr, 0.378 G1 BC 2,470 FPS MV - 500 yards, -80.3" drop, 31.5" drift, 1485 FPS, 563 ft lbs.
6.5 G - 130gr, 0.560 G1 BC, 2,400 FPS MV - 500 yards, -73.4" drop, 20.6" drift, 1711 FPS, 845 ft lbs.
6.5 G - 120gr, 0.421 G1 BC, 2610 FPS MV - 500 yards, -67.2" drop, 25.4" drift, 1675 FPS, 747 ft lbs.

I went for the highest velocity - for closer range, with this set.
6.8 S - 90gr, 0.275 G1 BC, 2,900 FPS MV - 200 yards, -3.5" drop, 4.6" drift, 2335 FPS, 1090 ft lbs.
6.5 G - 90gr, 0.260 G1 BC, 3,000 FPS MV - 200 yards, -3.5" drop, 4.9" drift, 2309 FPS, 1065 ft lbs.

6.5 Grendel has the advantage at range, but apart from that - they're rather identical. The 6.5G was designed as a hunting round, the 6.8 SPC was designed as a military cartridge for more power than the 5.56 at shorter engagements, like

.357 mag is the right answere

Why the hell isn't 7.62x25 a more popular cartridge

Attached: literally mini 30.jpg (1154x1154, 88K)

Because it's not 1993 anymore so you can't get a case of 1000 for $20

6.8 SPC II

Can get some of Bubba's Pissin' Hot Handloads and sling 120 grain pills at 3000 FPS out to 400 yards all damn day.

Because I'm not in Russia.... (early TT-33's are cool guns and I want one without the bitched up aftermarket safety, though)

Ruger's LCP is a goddamn carbon copy of Keltec's P32/P3AT

Keltec gets shit for low quality, and of course id think twice about bringing a RFB to a warzone, but my P32 and Sub2000 are extremely reliable.

If I was a rear eschelon Army delivery boy and was issued a sub2k with 30 round mags to keep in my messenger bag, I'd be satisfied with that.

It isn't cheap anymore, its long AF, .357 sig is a thing.

YESSSSS.

Its the only non-wildcatty automatic cartridge thats more than a half step up from 9mm, without resorting to a 50ae ridiculousness.

7x57 Mauser and its twin the 7mm-08

Attached: 7x57-300x66.jpg (300x66, 5K)

oh god keep going i'm almost there

.32-20

m.youtube.com/watch?v=G0H_5PSNokk

Yes it is. But the LCP II is not. I do want a P32 eventually.

7x57 is not under rated. its literally the best battle cartridge ever thought of

Probably 7.62x25 tok. If you handload it you can produce some gnarly rounds, especially with a cast mold
