Its called respect, notice communists have none and make fun of dead nazi soldiers, you don't see the other side doing it

Because your army does what our government says.

Its called a successful propaganda campaign to make people shame anyone who is openly anti war.

>T. Retard who enlisted

How much you get paid to divide and conquer here? cocksucker

>>T. Retard who enlisted

Can't, self mutilation disqualifies me

Thank you for your service

This. Odd, Yanks don't wonder how the Pentagon supports pro-military movies both through instruction and equipment, while 'respectfully requesting' small adjustments to whatever they don't like in the script. They're also literally paying big sporting events, for example, for patriotic events. Millions, even if it was something as straightforward and quick as a flypast.

Not to even mention Operation Mockingbird, Operation Earnest Voice, COINTELPRO, and whatever that fucking Powell Memorandum has lead to.

Lemme guess - you’re also one of those atheists who goes on a five-minute rant about Richard Dawkins any time someone says “Bless you” after you sneeze, aren’t you?

Someone who was trying to be nice to you made an offhand comment. Take the compliment and move on with life, you aspie ‘tard.

It doesn't mean anything. It's just like saying 'bless you' when someone sneezes. Or calling the customer 'Sir'. Trained Pavlovian response.

They’re just trying to be nice. Stop being such an autist and maybe you’ll make a friend.

This.

what country was it? surely you too served for israel

It’s MA’AM!

This will blow your mind. Here in Norway we don't even have words like that. We haven't had equivalent words for Sir, Ma'am, Mr or Mrs in spoken use for generations. And I don't remember the last time anyone used the sneeze response. A typical meeting starts with "Hi" and is responded to with "Hi". We answer a phone call with "Yes?" (Or "Hello" since we usually see who is calling.) The only Norwegian Pavlovian response I can think of right now is "Have a nice day" followed by "You as well."

Thank you for your service.

This, depending on the answer, might be unironicly correct.

Well the taxpayers fund the military, and also ARE the stock for the all-volunteer force.
It is prudent of the Pentagon to pour upon the public population this positive propaganda.

Imagine if a couple of hippies were sucked through a time machine just as they were about to assault with dogshit and blood buckets a couple of Vietnam veterans who had not had the chance to hide their uniforms yet. And instead ran into a couple of current serving ones instead. The hippies would not have been beaten the shit out of by the soldiers, but by any nearby onlookers. Who says the world hasn't improved with time?

>Move on with your life
What do you mean "Uh... 'k" means? It mean a momentary awkwardness, not full on sperging out. The spergs here would seem to be you, for not recognising the inherent awkwardness of the situation.

> just as they were about to assault with dogshit and blood buckets a couple of Vietnam veterans
There are no verifiable records of this ever actually happening. Even being spat at it in real life seems to have been vanishingly rare.
In this, as in so many things, the boomers seemed to have been mostly telling lies.

>notice communists have none
yup, that's why they still run that victory parade, 70+ year after the great war has ended and celebrate the day of the army.

My Captain told me to say “thank you for your taxes”

You'd say the same thing to an Al Qaeda or VC vet?

You don't get it. He is saying they don't respect soldiers, they respect their tribe.

So what do you call an acquaintance? Do you really just use their first name?

different cultures, mang
when in Rome, act like the Romans do, lest you get crucified

They probably aren't immigrating to the US

Yeah. "Hi (name)". Pet names are rare. Using last name only is the military vocal standard but outside that it's extremely uncommon even on formal occasions. Even your boss will address you using your first name and you will use his. When you don't simply say 'you'. Under some circumstances a handshake is okay. Hugging actually happens between friends now but it's something that only started the last decade or so.

lol the only good nazi is a dead one you bootlicking cunt

>friends hug
Wow that's fucked up.

Do you use the French republican method of addressing by using citizen and citizeness?

Maybe they're there on business or vacation?

I don't know a single guy that likes getting thanked, they are always painfully awkward experiences. I just don't bring it up, spares the situation.

Attached: 100_0031.jpg (2848x2134, 1.07M)

No. We don't have any words for that any more. We may use last names or a title when refering to someone else, but not with the guy we are speaking with.

I don't think there is any conscious reason for this. It's just how our language has developed. It was more formal once, but I am guesstimating that things loosened up a lot during the 60s. Up to then there was a continuous battle between modern Norwegian, 'New' Norwegian and hundreds of dialects. Then TV became a thing and set a standard for what modern formalities are like. We still have a lot of dialects but most of us switch over to 'book' language in company, and the 'New' Norwegian has gradually become more and more like the 'book' one. Fuck knows what this place will sound like a couple of generations from now.

>big guy with a buzz cut
>first house
>doing reno
>use relative's home depot account so he gets credit
>end up getting military discount
>thank you for your service [relative]
>Ahm... yeah, sure
>repeat 20x
>now recognized and thanked on regular basis

Wat do? I've had a taste of the good life now, dont wanna go back to paying 5% more for sandpaper and drill bits like the dicksucking civilian I am.

Their assumption is not your fault, just go with it.

>communists don’t respect dead soldiers
Lmao, limp dicked westerners would have a fit if somebody built a Soviet tier monument to fallen soldiers. Old school commies (not faggot rainbow capitalism liberals) were mega chads.

Bullshit no pacifists are shamed in America but they should be. War is a terrible necessity and as such it should be discussed based on need.

America hasn’t fought a necessary war since WW2.

Why’d you tell them about it stupid?

Uh....k

Arguably WWII wasnt a "necessary" war for the United States. We would still be an an uncontested superpower today if all of Europe was speaking German, China speaking Japanese, and North Africa speaking Italian today.

WWII was fought with the specific intent of preventing the Russians from taking all of Germany and to create the UN.

Our last "necessary" war was the US Civil War.

Fair enough, but I was thinking even in terms of being the good guys, and intervening in a way that actually produced a better outcome. You could maybe make this argument for Korea too, but that’s more complicated when you get into the history leading up to the partition of the country.

a thread died for this.
also military members in the US are welfare queens for the most part and do not require thanks

Ideological necessity is still necessity user.

By that logic all wars are “necessary” as long as some retard cooks up an ideological reason for it.

The Germans of WW2 had regional ambitions while the Russians thought global and British pulled us in to keep the continent divided (and because Churchill was on the payroll of communist fronts twice).

We weren't the good guys. We teamed up with the greater evil against the lesser evil and profited from the destruction.

>Russians thought global and British pulled us in to keep the continent divided
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism_in_One_Country
Russia was concerned with its own ass leading up to WW2. The Cold War pushed both to have a global presence out of mutual and self-reinforcing paranoia.

I needs to be believed by the population but yes.

fuck, we should bring that back

I mean that’s more or less what the Soviets did with comrade, not doubt directly emulating the Jacobins.

>you don't see the other side doing it

Lets not get crazy now.
