whats a real mauser
K98k
It's funny because outside of Germany Serbia is the second-longest user of Mauser rifles.
Doesn’t mean it’s a real Mauser
The polish still use AKs.. but that doesn’t make a Beryl an AK
>Doesn’t mean it’s a real Mauser
So Mauser that Kosta Milovanovic married Wilhelm Mauser's daughter.
en.wikipedia.org
It is not Mauser 98 spec
Because it came before the Mauser 98. Like a lot of other Mausers.
Still not a real mauser.
Nausea muse be German like an AK must be Russian
>Mausers made by Mauser aren't Mausers
Must be made in Germany
So Walthers Mausers are Mausers but Mausers Mausers aren't Mausers?
so a k98k isn't a mauser either correct?
The K98K was made in germany
Except the ones that weren't. Are those Mausers?
No
The Serbian M1881 rifles were all made by Mauser Werke in Oberndorf am Neckar in Wurttemberg. Serbian Model 1899 rifles were made by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken in Berlin in Prussia, and Österreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft in Steyr, Austria.
Is this swedish mauser a mauser?
So a MP5 is a Mauser because it's made in Germany, but a Mauser isn't a Mauser because it was made by Mauser for Serbia?
It is not. It is a rifle made under a Contract. Not an actual Mauser.
wasrs are a akm that lacks dimples, in every other way they are a copy of a 60's Russian akm, now everything else you listed i couldn't call akms or ak-74s
>aims is a modified akm in 5.45, uses a goofy non standard thick stem 5.45 bolt (why the fuck couldn't Romanians make a fucking 74 to spec, even the tantal uses a russian spec bolt and carrier)
>amd is pretty close to a akm despite it's goofy furniture and barrel length
>yugos are akm based but definitely are their own things
>type 56 based rifles are just a milled ak in a stamped receiver, all specs are same as russian type 3 milled guns, except buttstock uses it's own weird stamped furniture
Anything made by mauser.
An Mp5 is not made by Mauser
Except for Mausers. Those Mausers aren't Mausers because Mauser made them.
the beyrl is pretty much just a modified ak-74 in 5.56 with it's own handguard system, the bolt and bolt carrier are identical to a ak-74 with a slightly smaller bolt face to accommodate 5.56 rather than 5.45, the tantal which is a 5.45 beyrl can use Russian 74 bolts and carriers
>implying
But its German, so it's a Mauser. We've already established Mausers made by Mauser aren't Mausers.
I really want a axis k98k, I live the style and the history of Mausers but I'm a poorfag that went with an aAR instead. Fml
But it was made in Germany
By your retarded logic,
you are saying that K98's with DOT, BNZ, and several other manufacturer codes aren't "real Mausers" because they were made in factories in Austria, Czechoslovakia and a few other occupied countries,
even though they were issued to German troops during WWII.
Only true Mauser ITT:
Love
Not a Mauser. Mausers aren't Mausers because Mauser made them.
H&K was founded by Mauser engineers after WWII, so it's pretty close.
China, Hungary, and Romania actually had licenses from the USSR to produce AKs. Zastavas are unlicensed reverse-engineered copies.
Oh, then it isn't a Mauser. Mauser didn't make Mausers.
true but china only had the license for milled guns not akms, which is why even their stamped guns uses milled specs on things like barrels and bolts+carriers
Oh OK, I gotchu pham.
Let me guess. Only Loewe and DWM made Mausers are Mausers?
there is a bubbaed k98 at a lgs by me, should i buy it? it's only 200$
>the barrel has been cut down and re crowned unfortunately, but maybe i can modify a stock and make a neat little better looking carbine out of it
epbp
Just be aware that trying to de-Bubba a rifle is a money pit; it'll never be worth the money you'll put into finding parts for it. That said, resale value is not all there is to guns so if you enjoy the process and the end result makes you happy then go ahead.
people who spread false hate against Jow Forums aren't real Jow Forumsommandos
With the barrel cut, I wouldn't bother. That becomes a fuck of a lot of work for something that'll never be quite right. You could consider rebarreling it, and then restoring it.
Maybe?
yeah i just want a semi-historical looking rifle that i can mess around innawoods with and maybe shoot a boar with
They are literally Mosins. They're entirely and wholly superior to Mosins, but every single one was built off a foreign Mosin rifle.
This is a falseflag thread btw stop responding
It'll cost you another $300 at minimum, at that price buy a mosin or one of the non expensive mausers.
Jews can't make Mausers.
Can someone tell me what I need to look for when trying to buy a k98k
Anime is dumb
Make sure you check the head spacing first. Bought a bubba Mauser that was in a "scout" config for about 200 from Gander mountain. I decided to get a nogo and field gauge to check the rifle before I shot it. The fucker closed on a field gauge. It took 4 pieces of clear packing tape behind the field gauge before it wouldn't close.
I took the rifle back and told them I wanted my money back because they sold me a grenade. They said they had to send it off to their gunsmiths in Colorado and have it checked by a professional. A week later the gunsmith called me and told me yeah its fucked but also tried to upsell me on rebuilding it for like 300 to 500 bucks on top of the 200 I spent. It was just some Yugo M48. So I went out and bought a Nice Yugo M48 "fake" Mauser
T. assblasted libshit or non white
i'll order a gauge and check, worst case for 200$ i might be able to re barrel it to something goofy
>7.62x54r in a mauser
Same as every other surp really, make sure it hasn't been sporterized, make sure it hasn't been refinished or sanded. If the finish reminds you of a mosin it is a Russian capture, it may also have an x on the receiver, with the nazi marks peened off. Check for matching numbers on the stock and all of the metal pieces. The more matching it is the more you will pay. What is your budget?
>7.62x54r in a mauser
Somebody call?
Best post
Thanks user and I'm not sure on budget yet.
Anytime. German K98s tend to sit on the more expensive side of surps, with non matching non captured examples approaching the $750 range, they've become one of the more expensive bolt action surps despite how many their are
Mauser didn't make a lot of their own guns, Steyr, FN, DWM/Loewe, Zastava, Husqvarna, Carl Gustafstad, Springfield Armoury, Rock Island Armoury, Winchester, Eddystone, etc all made Mauser actions. Are they any less Mausers? Mauser often couldn't even make their own guns, and on occasion other manufacturers made superior Mausers.
Russian spec is not all country's spec. Each nation had it's own little tweaks and that's what makes AKs cool.
I’m going to find you and rape you
I like the berthier-esque wooden shrouding of the magazine extension. I bet the fucking russians would have removed the semi-pistol grip in a production version though, the stupid fucks.
don't forget you have to take the claw off to use the gauge
