Do mercenaries and PMC's suffer from morale problems? Are people less willing to fight, kill, and die for money than they are for their nation?
Do mercenaries and PMC's suffer from morale problems? Are people less willing to fight, kill...
No, not at all. Mercenaries are known for being extremely honorable gentlemen.
It depends on the circumstances you're in.
>PMC is on the side that maintains battlefield dominance and is able to function with low casualties
Morale isn't a problem.
>PMC is on the side that's losing and suffering major casualties during operations.
Morale suddenly becomes a huge problem because these guys don't really have the level of emotional investment (ideology, nation, faith, race, etc.) in the conflict that their regular counterparts do and are in it mainly for the paycheck. In the end, that paycheck ain't worth much if you're not alive to spend it so they have good reason to desert or even switch sides when faced with seemingly impossible odds.
>good reason to desert or even switch sides when faced with seemingly impossible odds.
Wouldn't that just trash the pmcs reputation though?
Just don’t put MERC hires on the same squad as AIM personnel.
The professionals hate working with amateurs and will refuse to extend their contract when you try to renew.
They have some pretty funny dialogue about it tho.
reputation dont mean shit to you if you dead
>muh reputation is more important than 80% casualties
never go full derp, user. Modern PMCs aren't renaissance condottieri fighting on a battlefield without GPMGs or air strikes
half the fun in jagged alliance is putting people who hate each other in the same group and seeing their interactions
the other half is killing
Every mercenary is already so fucked in the head that "morale" doesn't mean shit to them. Those guys are fucking ghouls, as long as they're getting paid and people are dying around them they are happy. I
T. Someone who has had the misfortune of doing aid work in the vicinity of saffer and slav mercenaries.
What makes them like that?
Reputation can be repaired with time. Millions of dollars in life insurance payouts can't be.
Constant exposure to violence and an absence of any value to society outside of the ability to pull a trigger.
Pmcs dont fight wars, they control populations.
Talking to KDF guys and American Marines, everyone else has a family to get back to or a job on ol' pappy's cigarette farm. People who are mostly veterans of their respective nations armed forces who loved war so much they threw away a chance to live a peaceful life as a Serbian auto mechanic have something fundamentally wrong with them.
>serbs
I think that's more to do with serbs and less mercenaries, user; because I've worked with US contractors who didn't have those problems. What were the SA mercs like?
i suffer morale problems from not being a merc or pmc
Didn't interact with them too much. From what I could gather they were old, drunk, and liked shooting animals at inappropriate times. When I did bump into them they were just kind of rude.
Most PMC gigs are static security, which is incredibly boring (98%) of the time.
>something fundamentally wrong with them.
Stupid child, war evolved because war is the ultimate competition. How do you think the White race did so well? War is beautiful. You'll die anyway and be forgotten, but the reason warriors stay at war is the brotherhood and the intensity civilian life can never match.
The Foreign Legion exemplify this. Former SS and Wehrmacht troops fought beside French nationalists to kill Communists and sandnigs.
Go join them and die forgotten in a ditch fighting to keep some diamond mine operating so some cunt bureaucrat can keep his job.
I am a contractor. I have no morale problems because I have no morale. I could care less about anything that happens as long as I get my 500 dollars a day. I literally sat in my hooch and played xbox during an attack because it was my day off and I wasnt being paid so I wasnt going to lift a finger to defend anyone. If you can achieve this level of detachment, then work is easy. Otherwise, yeah, morale is usually bad, because govt employees are some of the dumbest fucking retards on the planet who know fucking nothing about your job but constantly tell you how to do it, and working for them is grating as fuck, so getting "invested" in your work leads to stress and fatigue.
One of the reasons why I declined contractor jobs after I got out.
ah I remember what it's like to be 13
>I literally sat in my hooch and played xbox during an attack because it was my day off and I wasnt being paid so I wasnt going to lift a finger to defend anyone.
BASED
Dunno sounds like one of those cool side quests
>everyone else has a family to get back to or a job on ol' pappy's cigarette farm.
That's not the case for most vets and the certain bullshit of the military is just sometimes more easier to deal with that the uncertainty of the real world.
>People who are mostly veterans of their respective nations armed forces who loved war so much they threw away a chance to live a peaceful life as a Serbian auto mechanic
>Serbia
>Balkans
>Peaceful
Choose one and only one.
I'd rather fight for pay than for this nation of 48%ers
no gore yet? what kind of dutchko pic am I seeing?
They are not front line units, and do not operate under the UCMJ. Usually guarding assets the US cant directly guard because of political reasons. However assuming your laughing to the bank and dont have a SSGT breathing down your fucking neck its pretty cushy. But stress from combat is always a factor and can take a toll on anyone over time
is she ok
>Former SS and Wehrmacht troops fought beside French nationalists
the numbers of which has been massively blown out of proportion purposely by communist propaganda, best estimates put former SS at around 50 and former Wehrmacht weren't in substantial numbers
This pic got me thinking, why would you wear skiing goggles over normal glasses in combat?
Dust can't get in your eyes
>certain bullshit of the military is just sometimes more easier to deal with that the uncertainty of the real world
This, half of my job is inventory work with a legitimately retarded manager and the only thing that keeps me from intentionally pulling an 800 pound cabinet over on top of me is caffeine and the fact that I’m being paid and have life insurance, food and shelter.
fucking based
