correct me if i'm wrong but...
>7.62x54r
>20 feet
show me the bullet or it didn't happen
x39 maybe
any knuckle draggers with personal experience?
youtu.be
why does no one call the army out on their bullshit?
U.S. Enhanced Combat Helmet stops 7.62x54 at 20 feet?

My PASGT vest and helmet protected me from having the shit cut out of me from broken glass after a missile landed on top of the building next to mine and shattered all the windows.
t. Gulf War vet
Well the round that struck sgt McQueen was fired from a Dragunov. So you might just be dumb
The bullet probably hit the helmet at just the right angle it tumbled in just the right way so that it didn’t penetrate
This doesn’t mean that it’s rated for 7.62
Weird shit happens sometimes with projectiles, as picture here with a Lada bouncing a 152mm shell.
Are you retarded
>tfw no helmet trophy to mount to the wall
>what is a glancing blow
Yeah, I don't believe it "stopped" it in any meaningful sense; maybe deflected it a little, or maybe just got shredded by a bullet that would've just missed his head regardless.
He forgot to duck.
>russians STILL don't have magnetic fuzes
The absolute state of non-American electrical engineering
The ECH is level 3, not 3a. It's made of UHMWPE - the military opted for more protection instead of less weight when replacing the ACH's kevlar.
Steel core will punch PE, but I wouldn't be surprised if it stopped plain 7.62.
rolled a 20 on a saving thrown vs being shot in the head
Who is this man's gunny?
>The 7.62x54mmR round from the truck-mounted machine gun struck the back of McQueen’s helmet, shredding some of the materials but not penetrating the shell.
>opened fire with a Russian PK machine gun while another aimed to take out as many soldiers as possible with his AK-47.
>Though the helmet withstood the impact of a machine gun round at a distance of about 20 feet
what am i missing here faggots?
at range maybe it would stop it.
on video it can't stop a 30-30

>McQueen felt what he could later only describe as a horse kick to the back of his head and he fell flat to the ground, landing on his face.
doesn't seem to be a glancing blow
this has happened several times in the past 18 years of this war. its remarkable, its a miracle, its happened already, its not bullshit just because your shit slav moist nugget round gets btfo by decent armor.
>Steven McQueen
mfw
>opened fire with a Russian PK machine gun
>distance of about 20 feet
>150-180 grain fmj
>2800fps
>knocked him flat down on his face, not a glancing hit
is it really that hard to infer he got shot with the AK instead of the PK and the army is bullshiting the efficacy of their armor
>pkm is fired from low angle
>helmet is tilted up
>it causes a bounce as the side of the projecticle impacts instead of the tip
>probably wouldnt have even hit him if he had no helmet on
just admit it
truck-mounted machine gun
>not a low angle
looks like a bullseye to me
>it causes a bounce as the side of the projecticle impacts instead of the tip
who gives a fuck, the bullet stopped and the guy lived. mission complete
>lying to the troops will continue until moral improves
mission complete
Impressive.
With this most recent achievement, fate has in a single stroke, marked the decline of China and spelled a new era of wondrous prosperity and peaceful global dominance for the American eagle, which promises to firmly stand in sharp contrast to the historically bloody ascent of eastern powers and the cruel subjugation it brought to the humbler nations of the world. With the blessings of American quantum direct-current electricity, quantum aircraft carriers and quantum enhanced railguns will be the instruments with which America affirms its noble stewardship of 21st century world politics and offers the western world a different option; an humanist alternative to the depredations of Chinese leadership and the opportunity for a more equitable and dignified multilateralism.
Very handsome husband he has
>SFAB
Some durkadurkastani we’ve armed did this, right?
Women date up and men date down. See it all the time.
Solid 7/10 dudes taking 5/10 women.
>POO LEASE THAT MOOSTASH
It's not bullshit, it's rated for 7.62 x51 M80 ball
I could see it being feasible if It hit the upper 1/2 of time helmet creating a glancing shot and the helmet wasn't on tight so it shifted and the helmet accelerating really fast knocked him on his face. Him also falling forward absorbed some of the impact. So basically at an angle and him and the helmet moving absorbed the force
V50 only means it's stops 50 percent of projectiles that it's rated for
>what am i missing here faggots?
actual knowledge
It was an ECH helmet, not a PASGT helmet shown in the video, you imbeciles
Thank you captain Einstein. No shit. What did it do? Yes, it stopped it.
And it looks damn close to having penetrated if it was a slightly squarer angle.
So?
This was obviously a case of 50% it did.
I'm saying the v50 test to those not familiar with the army's testing standards means to pass you only have to stop 50 percent of the rated projectiles without spalling. You don't have to be a dick
At 2460 fps, yeah. Which is what, 100 or 150 yards downrange?
A fucking LADA the nullifies a tank shell. Will wonders never cease.
same imbecile
anyone able to find a test we can see?
great if it works
that pk is making 30-06 ballistics at zero range
dote.osd.mil
is this a parody of the chinks?
You're retarded if you have to ask.
It happens somtimes the bewlit follows and rides the helmet, de lamination from the picture would back that up, you never fucking know, weirder shit has happened
It takes a special kind of stupid to join the SFAB. Join SFAB if you want to eventually be murdered by some coward in a green on blue attck.
This reminds me of how the OPFOR at JRTC wear boonie hats with no MILES halo, so they have this move where they charge gun emplacements with their head down to keep a hit from registering.
Eh, it's not THAT dangerous, and it's the only way a lot of guys these days are going to put something on their right sleeve.
>t. former "SFAT" advisor
>7.62x54r
>2400fps
more like 148 grains at 2800fps
So true. I rarely see the reverse, but when I do, it makes me feel like shit being single
Looks like an off angle. Also, how heavy is the helmet?
Stalinium is non-magnetic
It's a fake figure, unless their shooting underloaded 7.62x51 it's not going 2400fps, 7.62 nato is 2600-2700fps
>I can't into reply chain
Yeah, that's exactly my point.
I was responding to the faggot who claims helmets are good for M80 ball, when they're only rated for it at 2-300fps below muzzle velocity. Which covers the most common cases, sure, but it's completely irrelevant to the 2700fps or so from a PK 20 feet away.
Looks like it just hit it at just the right angle OP, nothing more nothing less.
i think the helmets is 2.5 pounds
does this look off angle?
i'd love to find video of the ballistics tests
>We didn't even scratch them!
Looks like too much damage for 7.62x39, helmet have been stopping that somewhat decently for some time with much less
Stranger shit has happened, there was also that guy who stopped a round with his forehead and lived.
This guy inherited a name like Steve McQueen?
>The absolute state of non-American electrical engineering
Reminder that Ameriniggers sill don't have autoloaders in tanks. They're like 50 years behind! They have to use slave labor to load guns.
Pathetic engineering.
Is no mistake. Lada is of being made with superior Russian steel, much stronger than western steel which crumple into ball if even seeing wall or tank shell.
man is the most advanced machine on the earth, any "autoloader" is behind the capabilities of a man
My dog is smarter than that """loader""". I'd rather have a machine load things PERFECTLY every single time than to rely on some Dindu who can't even conjugate.
>If only you knew how bad things really are
Yikes sweetie. Dogs and autoloaders can't break track.
War and machines don't mix dumbass. Enjoy your autoloading manlet tank after one EMP blast.

>1-28 Infantry
Hey that's my old unit, Black Lions! We also had a guy get shot in his ACH in Baghdad and live, the round looped around the inside of the helmet after impact, basically deflected it. It's a crapshoot but it happens.
Was he a scrawny 56%er? I met one with the appropriate scar to match your story.
>tank loader
the job for that brainlet who scored a 32 on his ASVAB, take shell, put in gun= your carrier.
There's a whole world of difference between it did stop the bullet and it can reliably do that in combat
Russia is a poor third world country. Why would you expect them to add such an obscene luxury to their weapons?
Party pooper.
>there are people on Jow Forums right now who don't at least have an old pasgt to protect their dome
career.
I want a UHMWPE helmet with titanium outer plates. Level IV head protection when?
not discounting the helmet's work at all, but I am really wondering if the MG shooting was so clapped out it was key holing the ammo. The impact and distribution of energy looks like a blunt impact compared to other helmets.
either way it saved the dude's life.
>call them out on their bullshit
I've seen someone getting shot in the head by a 7.62x39 from approx 600ft. Bullet got stuck in the bone of the eye orbit, he only lost his eye. I see no reason why the army should be lying in this case.
>only describe as a horse kick to the back of his head
That doesn’t sound like fun.
Her face says
"Oh shit i've fucked half the men here"
Tfw autoader breaks cause made in china to save cost
Reminder that American niggers are smarter and more competent than Russian white bois
Probably just a glance shot. Probably saved his head though. ECH helmets are funny like that.
>why does no one call army out
Because it happens and you’re a fucking knuckle dragger?
No he was a big dude actually.
Lmao you stupid
Different helmet you dingus
ECH is 3.33 pounds for size large.
no
yes
goddammit no one is disputing he got shot in the head
stopping a 7.62x54r fmj point blank long barrel bullseye is fucking extraordinary
i would like to see evidence contrary... video
stopping 7.62x39 is believable
considering they were attacked with an ak as well. im suggesting they're using battlefield ambiguity to stretch the truth about what cartridge the helmet stopped.
very plausible explanation
It could be a one-off incident that no one expected. Which is why it would be news worthy to begin with.
If the helmets were EXPECTED to do that, there wouldn't be a news story here.
i'll settle for keyhole theory
>implying the news spectacle and trophy ceremony wouldn't be happening if it was a different caliber
>the bootlicking mental gymnastics in this thread
is a little objectivity and skepticism so difficult? it's in everyone's self interest
>your stupid because the military wouldn't lie
>support the troops = support MIC corruption and propaganda
>i like guns = i like war
>ect ect
