I'm 300 lbs and wish to enlist. What do?

Lose 120 pounds.

Enlist in a diet.

Which one actually works. This isn't a meme I've never actually done one.

Are you serious or not?

Dead serious, I'm obese and want to put my skills to good use serving my country. However I don't know the first steps to losing weight and keeping it off

Just signed a “try one” contract for the Army reserve as a 37f, I’m an E5 11b rn, how bad did I fuck up

>>>fit, read the sticky.

Count calories, eat 200grams carbs, 150 grams protein, rest in fat. If you weigh out rice you can get exactly 200grams per day, same with ground beef. Lift weights 4 times a week, cardio 3 times per week. Walk daily.

Thanks user

If you live near a walmart, they literally sell 1LB packs of ground beef. Got Ground sirlion, its 90% lean. 1 pack its like 90grams protein and 800ish calories. You can eat 1 per day and take 2-3 scoops of protein. Plus the rice. Its real simple.

You the fucker on rp that just asked about that like 2 days ago? The one that was asking the sa,e question but switching reserve with guard?

>visit recruiters office
>5 sergeants sitting around doing nothing
>all 5 of them literally jump out of their chairs when I say I'm interested in joining
>later on the phone rings and the recruiter talking to me literally lunges at it on the first ring
this is just fuckin sad

Army?

exercise daily and cut calories to 1000-2000 the average guy burns 2600 or so doing nothing so even without exercise cutting will help you lose weight 2lb or so a week

Some days you get so bored doing work is actually appealing.

Since everyone on here seems to know about ranger regiment, what’s it like to be a medic there? do they get to do the same stuff as the 11Bs just with the knowledge and experience that SOCM brings? I love medical knowledge but want to operate

A reply mentioned that you won’t be first in the stack, but do you still go out on target and hit the objective rather than being stuck in a support position or cordon?

if you're a platoon medic you'll tag along with the PSG on every mission. He's usually close to the action, but obviously he's not trying to bust down doors. Remember you're the most valuable person in the plt

yea

I was 230 and went down to 170 in 5 months via Fasting and dry fasting.

im skinny as fug but my heart rate is really high. they took an EKG at meps and told me to get my heart rate taken somewhere else. how do I lower it?

Stop eating processed food. Eat as much meat and vegetables as you want. Walk more. That's about all it takes. I guarantee the reason you overeat is because you crave all the nasty chemicals they put in processed food, and not because you're actually hungry. Gotta change your lifestyle. Pretty soon you'll feel so good you want to start lifting. Your body is full of poison and toxins right now and your brain thinks your want them but your body doesn't.

Lower stress

I would say pop a benzo before meps but they test for that. I have the same problem. My resting heart rate is around 60 but any time I get around medical equipment it's damn near 100.

well I already got drug tested so maybe they won't do it again

how rare is it to get a spot at rasp or airborne school in ait or basic

also i cant get one in my contract ( or so ive been told ) due to a medical waiver for 1 screw in my leg due to a fracture 6 years ago

What about company senior medic?

for me, it's beta blockers

it's rare. a recruiter will breeze by one day and offer slots to half a dozen people, you might completely miss them. try to get a blind eye or waiver for your waiver because it's much easier to get the option 40/option 4 up front.

Then you're back at the CCP or with the 1sg ready to receive casualties, do prelim triage and prep them for evac

what do you mean? a waiver for my waiver? wot

I'm already a year into college, is it worth going into reserves at this point? I want free college gibs

Basically he’s saying try to enlist without needing a medical waiver- ie, don’t tell anybody shit about the screw in your leg or that you broke a bone. If you get caught, stick to your guns and say you had forgotten about that- but as long you can do the physical part (duck walk etc) without issues you should be okay and slip through. I don’t think they x Ray you at MEPS anyway

Only if you want something related to your degree.

Can I go in for nursing if I'm doing the coursework?

Yes. That's Army MOS 68C.

I am studying computer science and was thinking about 17c

its to late for that ive been waiting for the ahrdware waiver its already in the system

>Total training time is 62 weeks, roughly 14 months.
>get my BSN in 15 months.
Yeah nevermind I'll wait.

>have a college degree
>always wanted to be an airborne ranger in the 75th
>everyone tells me to go in as an officer
>find out you cant pick your MOS as an officer
>also find out RASP 2 is a thing

should I go for it? Whats the difference between RASP 1 and RASP 2? I dont want to be some butter bar and would like to have friends and camaraderie in the unit. What makes a good officer in your experience?

Attached: winters.jpg (1280x720, 37K)

What do you want to do with a compsci degree?

any intel guys here? Im thinking about going in as a counter intel officer but in previous threads I found out how boring other intel MOS's are. Can I get a quick breakdown on the different kinds of intel. This would be for army, but im curious to see if its any different for the Marines

Attached: 1494780888308.jpg (593x462, 64K)

I don't actually know, working in security is on my list however since it's really in demand and I want to be a hacker

>what makes a good officer
Not being an officer

Sounds like 17C is for you.

>Not being an officer
Wrong. Being prior enlisted is the correct answer.
I Had a recon gunny go O for shits and giggles. Man was God's gift to the Marine Corps.

Well rip looks like you’re gonna have to drop a packet for RASP/airborne at your unit or get super lucky and get a slot during OSUT I suppose.

Just bust out your PT, memorize all the creeds and general orders, and git gud at land nav and such. If you’re enough of a stud you’ll have a higher chance of getting a shot at those schools/selections. Good luck user

thanks for the advice hopefully things will work out

By the way, 68W airborne slots are filled up. No more for a while. Opt. 40 involves a ton of waiting so you'll have a better chance by maxing PT and grades in AIT. The last kid to take airborne did it yesterday and ships this month.

Calming down helps, so do potassium supplements. But honestly you just need to eat light 48 hours prior, drink plenty of water, and come in so bored out of your mind that all you want to do is get out.

How much is Basic Military Training like what they show in Hollywood?

>gods gift to the marines
So he was a massive crayon ?

I'm surprised a recruiter hasn't shown up to mepcom in a drunken rage

if you join the marines you have to let the DI blow a load on your face before you can graduate

Do the amount of training days per month vary between states in the national guard or is there a federal standard?

Should I join the army or the air force?,

I'm leaning towards air force due to QoL but I feel like the army would get me in a lot quicker. I'm in an uncomfortable life situation and would like to join ASAP if my romantic relationship becomes any worse. I don't really mind what job I get. Would joining with an open general contract with the AF get me in in less than a month?

He tasted good as well

no matter the branch dont go in with an open contract, id wager the army could get you in quicker and the air force isnt worth the wait. take a good hard look at all the army careers as well as airforce and find something that you really want. if you truly dont care something in logistics or the signal corps may be up your alley, just research the mos you might be interested in and go from there, wikipedia has a list of all the careers for every branch

Attached: IMG_6547.jpg (2448x3264, 1.37M)

No lol I hate RallyPoint, I’d thats what you mean by rp

Don't listen to retards (including recruiters, who aren't retards but who don't give a shit about you) telling you to GO PRIOR ENLISTED MUSTANG OOH-RAH.

The only real tradeoff is picking your MOS. If you enlist so that you can be a MUSTANG LIEUTENANT in the future, then you are stupid and deserve all the bad things that will happen to you.

>Whats the difference between RASP 1 and RASP 2?

RASP 2 is shorter, and used to select leaders rather than to weed out kids who can't hack it as grunts in the Regiment. It's shorter because anyone they will even look at can easily meet the "weed out" criteria of RASP 1.

>I dont want to be some butter bar

You'll be a be a second lieutenant for 18 months, most of which will be spent in training before you reach your first unit.

>would like to have friends and camaraderie in the unit

When you're a lieutenant, these are the other junior officers in your company/battalion.

>What makes a good officer in your experience?

It's not that hard, a large majority of lieutenants who meet commissioning standards are competent.

Marines you basically sign into the field for the mos iirc. You don't get your actual job until after schooling. So you would sign up for the intelligence job and then they would split you guys up at the end of the A school and tell you what systems you're trained in.

Army has the widest selection of Intel

35L is basically the king of intel from what I've heard, they also double as actual law enforcement officers like CID
35M is the bitch boy of these guys, they usually have to learn a language
35F is the analysis, they present info for the rest of the non intel people in powerpoints and shit. Their important function is analyzing all the other intelligence, compiling it into easy to understand shit and then putting it out. They're a bit looked down to in the intel community since they're not actually collecting information
35N is sigint, these guys are a 2nd contender for best intel, they deal with numbers and radios.
35S is another form of sigint iirc, they aren't as cool and don't get the cooler opportunities
35P is translator shit I believe, don't do translator shit because 1) you'll fail the school 2)gay
35Q is the same shit I think? I don't know I'm not in the army

How common is it for guys to get rasp slots in 68w AIT? Or airborne, then volunteer for rasp at airborne? Also will need a medical waiver so I wouldn’t qualify for option 40 off the bat

What’s the difference between PSG and 1SG? Where is one in relation to the other during a raid. It seems like there’s very little action time for a 68W in regiment since in 2-3 years they’ll go from platoon medic to company senior medic

Rare. Opt. 40 is rare for 68W because those guys are guaranteed to wash out. Combat medics have an unusually high washout rate. In AIT it's still rare and they'll really offer it to anyone who is top 10% on a first come first serve basis.

>want to join the military
>tfw have zero sense of comradery/dont really care for it
I'm not gonna make it huh

Attached: IMG_20181206_115022.jpg (1242x1221, 133K)

You'll survive but everyone will hate you. Same in civilian. If you can't get along and have fun as a group once in a while then it's going to be rough for you no matter where you go.

How do you find a USAF recruiter that actually gives a shit? Every one I've talked to said basically "yeah you need an open aptitude or you're SoL" From what I've read that's BS, but how do I actually find one that isn't bsing me?

It's not so much that it's just I dont like being close with anybody which I feel is probably a huge part of being deployed with your squad mates
I have a good amount of friends that I hang with regularly and have great times with, but I hardly ever open up to them about even the tiniest things. Hell even my parents probably couldnt tell you thing first personal thing about me

How do people become drill sergeants/instructors?

I bought the dlab study guide off of amazon and it says the rules in the study guide are the exact same on the actual exam, does anyone know if this is true?

Not a problem. Do your job and you'l make friends and if you never open up to anyone, that's ok for a man, but it sucks compared to having some good friends.

>What’s the difference between PSG and 1SG?

Platoon level vs company level.

You'll be fine so long as you don't say no to everything. Have some fun with them, but keep your distance when they decide to be extra stupid. There are many like that in the armed forces and guys just accept that they're like that and it's not going to change.

On top of what the other guys said, make sure you get plenty of sleep every night and go to bed hydrated.

>want to join the military
>mostly because I hate my job and don't want to go through the whole interview thing again

>>mostly because I hate my job and don't want to go through the whole interview thing again
kek yeah i hate that shit. still gotta do meps stuff though

What's the travel life like in the Navy? What's it like hitting up ports and stuff?

Basically i'm debating between NavAir or Air Force, and I hear the Air Force will give a comfier life supposedly but I could stay in the same place for years, which to a young buck who lived in the same city for 23 years, that isn't appealing. FYI I plan on doing OCS and joining as an officer. I have a bachelors in mechanical engineering. Essentially the main attraction for the Navy is being on a Carrier and travelling the world.

Anyone else get pain in their left nut when they run? I think I have a varicocele. I want to go infantry so I think I’ll need to get the surgery because I can’t imagine going through basic and doing PT with this, even though it’s a very mild dull pain.

How does a pre-op trans get through MEPS? Any issues?

Attached: 1547664242982.png (868x693, 375K)

Lol just wear shit that supports your nuts retard

Ports, fun. Aircraft carriers and ports? Not fun.

Go air force. Carriers suck ass. If you want to see the world as a naval officer, be a smart cookie and go as a SWO on a normal sized vessel that isn't preoccupied with months long shows of force and bombing countries for nine months at a time.

I assume you want to be a pilot. If you're okay with the only land you see for six to eight months at a time being from the air on a nightmarish flight schedule, join the navy.

stop posting

That can go either way. One of the biggest pieces of shit I ever worked for was a mustang.

Got relieved for adultery and fraternization, so I wasn't too mad in the end. I hate it when those fucks actually skate through.

>I assume you want to be a pilot
sure but i'll most likely fail, so I was thinking more Aviation Maintenance Officer. I think i'd still prefer a carrier over bum fuck dekota or oklahoma for 4 years

Just keep in mind carriers spend ridiculous amounts of time underway. If that's what you want to do, there's nothing wrong with it, but the port calls are going to be noticeably fewer than other vessels. You'll either be underway or at home port. Smaller vessels fit into more ports and aren't thousand foot targets. Carrier groups are essential to modern war fighting, and tend to find themselves in important roles more frequently.

Being a part of history is many things, but fun ain't one of them.

Do you get to use your own type of underwear during schools and basic? Do they issue tighty whiteys? My nuts are pretty saggy so that may be the issue

I'm seriously considering going USAF Loadmaster and just chilling for 20-30 years and making E-9. Maybe cross train in other aircrew stuff along the way.

>roommate at MEPS hotel is a high school kid
>video chatting with his GF in hotel room
>while I’m drying off from a shower, hear her tell him she’s straight up going to bang another dude while he’s gone
>hear him sputter out “w-well I’m not gonna fuckin take you to prom!”

Rip. Jody got this kid early

Why do milniggers have shit taste in women

asthma wavier (air force) is going to be approved in the next few days lads, then it's jobs
what a process it fucking was trying to join. my first recruiter fucked over me and a couple of other applicants by lying to us about papers and various things, which wasted literally like close to 10 months. then the crazy wait times for getting all my medical stuff approved which took even longer thanks to laser eye surgery.
kind of nervous about the jobs part though, dream job and first thing on my list will be airborne intelligence. after that would be the rest of the intelligence jobs and ending with the 3d series. What is the aptitude listing part about? I'm kind of confused on that. I won't sign if it's not a job I want

Attached: photo172.jpgw584.jpg (584x438, 166K)

I need some advice Im already enlisted in the marines and I leave for boot this summer. Right now im thinking either infanty or some sort of translator. I got an 87 on the asvab. Even my recruiter thinks im stupid for trying to go infanty

Who /atMEPS/ here

Also any advice on taking the DLAB

>wanting to be a crayon eater
alright, translating is an autistic job and boring one just go infantry recruiters are scum(90% of them anyway) never listen to them if they heavily push something because it generally regards their quota

>marines
Regardless of what you end up doing you're retarded

Ask a guy who was part of the first 22 week infantry OSUT cycle anything. PS: If you join right now your shit is probably gonna be 22 weeks too.

Listen to fucking everything. You have only one chance to listen to what it is being said to you.

Memorization is key.

shut up boot

Depends. Could be your ready year. Could be an FRU unit. Could be a validation year with a JRTC rotation. All plays into it.

And the days per month varies by unit. Some tack more UTAs onto one month to get a month off (hunting seasons or vacation times for families etc)
