This entire movie was fucking stupid as shit, designed to stack more good guy/bad guy feels to Americans' incredibly exploitable childlike understanding of WW2. They would have zeroed in on the sniper after the 3rd shot and started suppressing. It wasn't that far away. Rifles also weren't that accurate back then. Sniper guy just had a scope on a regular rifle, not a sniper rifle. If snipers were that good back then, everyone would be snipers. Instead of landing immediately on the beaches, they would have had snipers shoot everyone in the pillboxes from the boats.
