Would they have done as good in combat as they did if Sober would not have been such a dick to them and make them march and run without end?

Was David Schwimmer the real hero in this series?

Yes

I have no idea

They even go so far as to say it in the book and interviews.

It’s not that he was an asshole. It’s that he was and asshole AND incompetent. He was vindictive, couldn’t tread a map, and his punishments teetered on being done just for the fuck of it. He was power hungry and his men could sense it. A good leader does what he thinks is fair, with consistency, and is very capable at his own job.

Sobel was a fucking filthy circumised Jew. That's all.

reminder sobel would have died instead of meehan if it weren't for the mutiny

The lunatics over at /pol are lose again

This, they will never be welcome here

He was a shitty leader in the field but holy fuck he whipped them into shape and into a coherent unit that hated two kinds of people. Nazis and Sobel.

commies out

I honestly can't differentiate between ironic shitposting and sincere retardation anymore

Sobel was well versed in the ways of discipline and instruction, but was useless in any practical field scenario. The combination of his teaching and Winter's leadership is what made Easy company into the hardened fighting force they were.

The idea that Easy Co was this mythic fighting force is over hyped. All the other companies did just fine, Easy just has the benefit of a book about them. If Easy had been commanded by a diff officer nothing would have been diff except maybe for Winters leapfrogging over Sobel to the rank of major.

that's just what the book says it was writen by one guy there was some guy in the book that was bad mouthed it turned out he was a real war hero.

Also Sobel made col something a higher rank then dick

>Also Sobel made col
no, he made Lt Col in the National Guard, Winter jumped over him to Major while Sobel was just a Capt for the remainder of the war.

In the interviews the men of easy company said that Sobel's retardation made them bond and work harder in their shared suffering, and being that close-knit with each other probably helped them survive some of the hardest parts of the war.

So, maybe they would have and maybe they wouldn't- but the men themselves seem to think Sobel helped them in the long run. Also, they indirectly saved his life when they mutinied and got sobel transferred- otherwise he'd have been on the plane that got shot down during D Day

>Germans couldn't kill him
>Koreans couldn't kill him
>VA could

Was officer fragging a thing in WW2 or did it start in Vietnam?

I remember watching BoB and there's this later episode where they get a new 2Lt butterbar who gets told to fuck off by literally everyone until he convinces one corporal to swap places with him.

When Winters and his buttbuddy were just butterbars no one told them to fuck off for being Sobel's lackeys. When Speirs was a butterbar no one also gave him shit for shooting POWs. If Sobel weren't that much of a douchebag the other sergeants wouldn't have mutinied.

Even when they got an incompetent CO when Winters became a Major he never got told to fuck off by SNCOs and NCOs.

Dyke was definitely told to fuck off since Lipton basically assumed command of Easy while in the Bois Jacques

People kept their distance from Jones because the war was basically over to them at this point and they thought a green butterbar fresh from West Point would be gung-ho about charging into combat and pointlessly getting men killed

based and redpilled

to be fair there was social pressure to have seen action against the natzees or japs

even the new privates who showed up earlier than the new lt were complaining they didn't even get to shoot their guns towards jerry

imagine being a ww2 vet who didn't really see action

I wish I knew what the OP was trying to say

Nope, only the VA could kill Ross

>To the winner go the spoils

Underated

>Unit in combat for several hours
>Sobel orders his men to eat to preserve energy
>everybody fighting thinks it's a stupid idea to eat in a firefight, but Sobel will murder them for disobeying orders
>a lone German soldier rushes the DFP as Sobel notices
>raises his rifle and yells "WE WERE ON A BREAK"

He couldn't even kill himself, you think he could kill Germans?

Not necessarily.

Sobel contributed to the units readiness. Particularly their physical fitness.

It was all Winters tho on the execution and proper employment of his company. The individual soldier thanks Sobel for getting them physically fit for combat duty, but it was Winters who drew up the plan for the Brecourt Manor Assault which is still talked about at West Point to this day. Sobel could yell at people but couldn't lead a bug out of a goats ass. A leader needs to be in the shit, assessing shit real time and coming up with strong, viable options in a moments notice. Something Winters was capable of but not Sobel.

tl;dr = I think Easy Company would have performed just as well whether or not Sobel was their training commander. It was all Winters.

No one here said that. The question was was Sobel effective? Stop being a retard, autistic faggot you brainlet.

unrelated, but i know that pic is from something memey. Sauce?

WW2, 82nd Airborne

There was some autist who would take pictures of himself in different poses and paste them all into a WWII scene. There was also some weird prisoner/humiliation fetish slant to it too. I don't have any of them saved though.

jawdude. a fucking madman

Would you be able to spell "grammar" if you weren't taught how in schooling?

probably, yes.

Nice

The ww2 vet i talked to arrived relatively late, he said they were all mostly angry about that mass execution and wanted payback.

he went to korea dick face he got a higher rank then dick in the end

> He worked as an accountant before being recalled to active duty during the Korean War
doesn't say anything of him actually deploying to korea tho. and he didn't get a single medal connected to the war in korea, no campaign star, no korean president blabla citation award, nothing. i doubt he's ever actually been there. winters was also recalled into active duty during korea but never had to leave the us, he became a training officer. i guess sobel did something similar.

btw it's funny how he looks exactly like the kind of dick he's portrayed as in the series

i was relatively young when friends was still fresh on tv, so i never bothered to watch it. my first time really seeing david schwimmer was band of brothers. should i go back and watch friends as some sort of sobel reborn thing?

>should i go back and watch friends as some sort of sobel reborn thing?
ask /tv/. Friends was a 90's zeitgeist kind of thing and a zoomer may not really get the humor. also, the first season or two the characters haden't quit jelled into what people like to remember them as.
>funny how he looks exactly like the kind of dick he's portrayed as in the series
I'm sure that had nothing to do with why they cast David Schwimmer in the roll temporarily allowing him to escape his type casting of comedic rolls only. It was more a case of one unlikable jew being played by another unlikable jew

i don't know, last time i watched friends was almost 20 years ago. why the fuck you even ask me

i just want to know sobel eventually had a happy ending

he died at the hands of the VA

>Was David Schwimmer the real hero in this series?

Basically yes.

BoB had a shit load of weird cameos and bit parts for recognizable celebrities. Jimmy Fallon, Simon Pegg, Michael Fassenbender, Tom Hardy. Ron Livingston wasn't a bit part, but it was still weird seeing him a year removed from Office Space.

i think he was an ass burger or had a mild foarm of autism so he ended up being bullied by dick

don't forget emma stone when she gets raped

and tom hanks has a bit part where he shouts something it's really small and people will mis it

found it

kek

sadly I don't think his actual cameo is on Youtube

underrated

IIRC They even invited him to the reunions.

Can we all agree that Spiers is based?

Imagine having a fetish so specific you have to create your own porn for it. Truly a man of the ages.

Discord trannies are lose

generally, yes. but shooting POWs is still not cool.

Kill yourselves.

no, you fucking kill yourself. before any of you fucking sick pieces of shit decides to "accelerate" some more. you deserve the fucking bullet and your board is nothing but a fucking pest.

Attached: webb.gif (500x268, 1024K)

samefag

nope. fucking kill yourself or stop being a Jow Forumstard

Attached: fu.jpg (1092x276, 36K)

>YOU DIDN'T PUT ENOUGH SLASHES IN, IM TELLING MOM

>didnt see combat
>HURR COULDNT KILL HIM
Atilla the Hun couldn't kill me, it would seem.

you must be one tough SOB, based

He's asking if sobel being a dick was a blessing disguise

brainlet doesn’t even understand what he’s responding to

you should also kill yourself

you’ve already told me to kill myself. Me calling you and the other guy samefags was more of a comment on how you both negatively impact the board. You’re both fags of the same variety.
Now please, go buy guns.

Only if you kill yourself

everyone wants to be a paratrooper with no logistics until it's time to do paratrooper shit.

well both the series and everything you can read about the actual incident suggests it really wasn't necessary

>even the new privates who showed up earlier than the new lt were complaining they didn't even get to shoot their guns towards jerry

You pretty much described every single recruit in all history of warfare. Everyone is eager and pumped up to see action, until they start seeing real action.
