Does anybody use the 20 round pmags? I have 2 AKs and they have never malfunctioned until I used the 20 rounders. Took two apart and compared the springs to a 10rd pmag. It appears the spring is the same length for their 20 as their 10 rounder. Also when you push down on the 30 and 10 you feel a lot more resistance than the 20. Could the spring length be the reason the 20 rd pmags are less reliable?

It was some Soviet surplus wood from soviet stocks I think it came from? I got it super cheap because it was in absolutely terrible condition. Made for a good refinish job

Can you get pistol AK recievers? Or does it not matter? Not SBRing, would be using a brace.

A build is a good call. No such thing as a "pistol" receiver. You can use a fixed stock rear trunnion, or even a side folder rear trunnion, install an AR buffer tube adapter, the run something like the SBA4 or SBA3 brace.

There are also some neat ways to get Tailhook braces going.

They seem good, but they don't have a very long track record yet. If you buy one, I would replace the trigger right away, because Rob Ski's videos have shown that the trigger it comes with can cause mushrooming on the rear of the bolt carrier.

Wow, the dracos are just shy of 12". I always thought they were shorter for some reason. Hmmm I'll have to consider this. I was kind of hoping for 5.56, but I could probably live with 7.62x39.

Watched A Sniper's War earlier and watching Oleg's Choice now, both on Prime. Pretty egregious propaganda but at the same time there are lots of sexy AKs in there.

Another option is a Zastava M85. Shorter than you're looking for but in the right caliber

Why not a dovetail mount for mounting optics? Muzzle climb out of a 5.45 AK is negligible. Also, taking power tools and sandpaper to some wood =/= gunsmithing.
