Start by getting a rifle that's not made by 2A traitors.

I'm going to use their product to be pro 2A, they can @ me if they'd like

Nylon and copper would be better in preserving the finish underneath, right?

thinners, sandpaper (1000 grit should do), or sandblasting.

t. automotive painter

Ah I remember you. Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) will work well but it's tough stuff. I suggested goof-off. Probably your easiest, safest, least-toxic option

Lol wtf is with this dude and his RRA?
Ive seen like 4 threads about this exact rifle in the past week.
Also I fucking TOLD YEW BOY!
DONT TAKE THE PAINT OFF!
REEEEEEEEEE!

Spoken like a true nigger.
Huff more remover darkie

the finish is gonna look like shit no matter what you do take it down to bare metal

Red Brakleen

you do not need to sand a fucking anodized aluminum receiver to get paint off it. Trust me

you say that like sanding with a 1000 grit pad is difficult or extreme.

Plus sanding will key the surface for the new paint.

Keep it out of the interior of the reciever, where there may be a teflon-type finish you don't want to strip

Yeah I've been working around the seams and pins

I live in Georgia, I'm not going to be a fucking tard with a tan rifle in georgia, I already bought a cheap rock river, I dont need the burden of a shit color

Take it all apart and soak in a lidded bucket of acetone, let it soak for 5 minutes and scrub. Do this a few times until it's all off.

Citristrip. Baste it on, let it sit, run hot water on it.

Unironically this.

Yeah, if you're planning to repaint it. Otherwise, you're removing the anodizing. For aluminum, it doesn't much matter--surface oxidation prevents it from going deeper.

OP--start experimenting with paint-removing chemicals or do your research on the most common paints--like duracote or oil-base spray paint.

The other option is to use a stronger chemical. Look for something with NMP (N-mythyl 2-pyrrillodone) or ETA (ehtanolamine) in it. For the love of god don't breath in the fumes from that shit, though. Its bad news.

Won't significantly attack the coating under the paint, though. But will melt most polymers.

I was about to mention this

What happened to drowning your gun in Acetone OP?

I've been passed out from the fumes of paint thinner, it's all good

RIP in peace your brain cells. How'd the gun turn out?

This is all I got so far, trynna figure out the best way to completly strip the receivers without tools

This is funny because I'm about to paint mine.
Just paint over it w/ AlumahydeII

paint remover

Over an hour and almost passing out has proved to be painfully too slow

I'm about to just let it sit in paint remover, how much should be disassembled before doing this

I cleaned up some KAC handguards using this shit. Worked well but it takes some work to get every nook clean

Attached: 10KA.jpg (350x350, 42K)

i had pretty good success with brake cleaner/carb cleaner and a brush

I recommend using a toothbrush and rubber gloves after the treatment user

Holy shit

Thats fine like that.

Anything is better than black. Just reprint it if you’re that much of an autist

I personally find od furniture and black receivers as a pretty alright aesthetic for a Georgia ar

Also fellas i was too hyped on how fast carb cleaner worked that i forgot gloves and now my knuckle burns

I fucking lost the c clamp for the dust cover rod

Also I'm driving while high off of fumes for a fucking burrito, kiss my ass

Stop shitting up the board with your retarded project.

Stop shitting up my thread with stupid comments and pray I fucking crash

Biodegradable paint stripper that's safe for pipes. Wet rags with it. Drape it over 1 section at a time. Leave it. Rinse it.

Just cork the barrel before you dunk it user.

i would try simple green first. just let it soak for 24 hours or so then wipe it down.

nice dad jeans

alumahyde 2 probably won't properly bond to whatever that is. you're recommended to blast whatever you're painting with 120 grit aluminum oxide before spraying.

acetone

literally just blast it off. it's going to look like shit when the paint is gone and you're going to have to blast it to repaint it anyway.

The only tool you need is a set of vice grips and a small nail

Holy fuck I need to stop, I'm deadass hearing shit

I once used MEK to kill a raccoon.
The bastard was tearing up our hangar every night. I looked around and couldn't find anything I could use as a trap, so I soaked some donuts in MEK and threw them in the trash.
Never had raccoon problems again.

Used acetone-free nail polish remover to take some milspec aervoe stuff off once. Worked pretty well but took a bit of time.

>I live in Georgia, I'm not going to be a fucking tard with a tan rifle in georgia
>Georgia
>tard
>georgia
It's a old meme but it checks out.
So paint it a another color?

seriously man, just go buy some citristrip paint stripper. You will save yourself tons of time and grief

That's just the skinwalkers. Solvents are known to attract them.

MEK melts plastic. I use it to make a glue to make my own housings for electronics I build.

hello. its again.

Buy some fucking sandpaper for fuck sake.

Key up the rifle and make it smooth with some 1000 grit or maybe 1500 tops. then paint it black or whatever you want.

You will never get it back to black with chemicals alone.

The paint is bound to the anodised surface. there is no way to remove it without taking a layer of oxidisation too.

I mean what the fuck do i know, i just paint shit every day.

Sandblasting using a bead blaster? It'll take off the paint and the first layer of metal on the gun. You could end up fucking up the integrity of the rifle as well as fading the serial number/make model info.
t. Bead blasted steel inserts for blowout preventers for two years

When we would have to reblast adhesive paint off the steel it would take the outer layer of steel off as well as the paint.

MEK is perfect for removing paint. Don't know where you'd get it. The shop I used to work for would get 55 gallon drums of the stuff.

>It'll take off the paint

Yes that's the point.

and the first layer of metal on the gun. You could end up fucking up the integrity of the rifle as well as fading the serial number/make model info.

What the fuck are you talking about? Unless you have some stupidly powerful machine you are never going do any of that. I literally laughed out loud at the structural integrity bit.

Before we paint an alloy wheel it's put in the booth and sandblasted to remove all the previous paint, the metal is totally fine apart from some marks from the process - marks that are always fine enough to be filled with paint or powder coating depending on method.

You're blasting a piece of metal that is millimeters thick versus blasting a massive hunk of steel used for automobiles. Did you think about that?

>Paint over it.

Attached: 354deaa3770912621bb816da070346ab.jpg (258x245, 12K)

i don't think you have any idea what you're talking about.

Sandblasting with any kind of media short of metal will never remove metal.

I'm actually kinda digging this ashy look, I may also keep the bottom part of the handgaurd tan as well as the stock

Yeah this actually slaps, when I get more goof off I'll definitely finish before painting the furniture OD, but right now this doesnt look too bad for looking like shit
