There’s something to be said for factory rifles, but even Izhmash wasn’t perfect. I own factory Saigas and Veprs along with ones rebuilt by Definitive Arms, and the ones touched by DA are improved in a number of ways. They’re not just snake-oil salesmen or selling marked-up tacticool abortions riding on name recognition like some custom shops.
Vepr FMs are like $1600 now. They’re worth the price to me, but if OP wants a more traditional AKM instead of something too thicc to be a lightweight carbine, he should consider the DA rifle.

It is going by the description in , and both the DA rifles I own (Saiga 7.62x39 and Vepr 223 with slings in pic related) were recrowned since one is a 14.5” pin and weld, and the other was rethreaded to 1/2x28 for standard AR muzzle devices. Both also have polished Tapco G2 triggers instead of just the factory Tapco G2.

FWIW I have a DAKM-4150N (bought it before they came out with the OFC rifles) and it is super straight and a great rifle. Wish I could find a OFC online to add it to the collection. My lgs only has century's cast junk heaps. I'd get it if I were you.

I shoot the Saiga 7.62x39 more since it's lighter and the ammo is cheaper. I'll probably have more fun with the Vepr 223 once those 1-6x FFP scopes from Primary Arms come back in stock.

Forgot to mention that they installed the AR magwell on the Vepr, which seems more than worth it considering a few 5.56 AK mags probably cost as much as it would be to just do the magwell conversion itself.

For $1750 I'd be more inclined to scrape up something like a PLO or Izhmash kit and have a reputable builder like gunplumber or POHF Firearms build it out, desu.

Ahkchually! The DA guns are made from (11) FB Radom weapons plant part kits. The WBP rifles are only made by themselves in the CITY of Radom, Poland. Not the (11) FB Radom plant. They tried to sneak that in their description by saying Radom and hoping no one bothered to realize the two aren't connected.

Well the Polish ones anyway, they have some Romanian and East German rifles too last I checked.

WBP is located in Rogów and have never made claims of being from the famous Fabryka Broni ((11)) plant. Now recently there were some claims they were using parts from FB Radom, at least their barrels.
