Im meeting with an active duty army recruiter tomorrow. What questions should I ask about? Are there benefits and programs most civies dont know about and the army tries to keep it that way?
For reference, Ill have a Bachelors degree by this spring and am looking to go active duty army, 35L counter intel agent with a Ranger contract

Ask about free HRT

That left with Obama.

What if you said "please"?

Use your degree in the civilian sector. Everyone I've ever known that went to the military is now in school and felt like they wasted all of that time. It's obviously different for everyone but why would you join to take orders from someone with half your intelligence? That's how my good friends explain it.

>help me fight for Israel and the corrupt state

How about no. Fuck off faggot.

Ask about OCS, idk if they have specific recruiters for OCS but inquire about it or who you could talk to

why would you go ENLISTED when you already have a degree you idiot

Some people join the military for the training that can be used for the upcoming civil war

>I help the government to participate in a civil war!

Literal nonsense. You can get "training" without serving Israel.

Who? Who’s going to train you?

The hundreds of instructors with combat experience. Military isn't the only source of training.

Do you know how many people like Reed Hendricks offer combat courses? Do you know the wealth or knowledge on the internet alone? You can even go to 2 or 3 gun and get lots of firearm training. You get firearm training plus stay in shape and youre golden. Go take some basic medical and CPR classes too.

Fuck off leftypol

>being against Israel and big government faggotry is leftist

Kill yourself fucking swine bootlicker

>active duty
>enlisted
>peacetime

So this...is the power...of recruits...woah...

>Kill yourself fucking swine bootlicker
no thanks leftypol

>implying you'll be anywhere near as well trained with civilian instructors who claim to be prior service and fucking basic medical courses

you fucking wish, guy

try again autismo

Attached: 1544722514673.jpg (440x493, 24K)

Yes you fucking will. I dont know what you think the average grunt gets but it isnt magical you fucktard. I have seen plenty who can't even shoot for shit and know nothing about guns at all.

You can get the same thing by not being a dumbass

I'm an infantryman, try again faggot.

Ask him if you can go in with a PT profile. It'll make your life easier. Most civies don't know about this.

>muh basic ass grunt training means I'm a super soldier

Get over yourself you fucking self important slave

The difference being you have to pay them while the army dies the same thing while paying you.

Like fuck man thanks to tax dollars be it from your paycheck, your pay, or a product that supports an American business/tarrifs a bit of that cash supports Israel
Welcome to globalism you idiot

The contract is pretty straight forward. The'll try to get into the other MOS' that the army is hurting for and tell you the one you wan't is full. If they do this tell them to go fuck themselves and you won't sign the contract until you get what you want.
> They tried to make me a cook

>
>40919237
can confirm, don't do anything without getting that sweet airborne ranger contract and a bonus. Got a 93 on the asvab and gave up the optino 40 contract and a bonus for a plain ass 11b cause the recruiter said "take whatever you can get"

>hurr just support jews and mic who cares dude

How about no fucker

do not sign 11x under any circumstances
t. suicidal 11b

I dont want to not have a say in my MOS, I will be going in with an e4 rank though

what is it?

You can’t. 35L isn’t for fresh recruits. You need to already have a different MOS first. 35Ls automatically promote to E5 when they finish school too. You’re looking for 35M, but don’t bother without a language added in.

>do not sign 11x under any circumstances

I ship out for 11x OSUT and then airborne school in less than a week. RIP me

Its a personalized physical fitness plan so you don't become injured doing their standardized workouts everyone does. It takes extra work on their part so they don't tell recruits about it

It’s not too late to change your mind.

I know that feel...4 years of my life I'll never get back

Fuck it, I’m gonna make the best out of it. If it totally sucks I only signed a 3 year contract. I’ve ridden out worse jobs for longer

>35L counter intel agent with a Ranger contract

Attached: laughingdoughboys.jpg (428x322, 50K)

remember "one and done" is the best advice anyone gave me

I hope you got a bonus

>I don't want to not
College education these days. You are perfect for the Army.

You didn't read what I wrote. America gives money to Israel yes? Then any tax supports Israel if you're American. Even if you're not if you buy anything imported from, or has any part made by a company in America then it is also supporting Israel.

Posting on THIS WEBSITE supports fucking Israel.

I ain't saying donate to winestine and sheckleburgs dreidel emporium, I'm saying don't fret about two to three degrees of separation of supporting Israel because globalism has made anything less near impossible

I got a 4K bonus. Not much but hey 4 grand is 4 grand.

My reasoning for a short contract was basically “if I hate it I get out quick, if I love it I can re-up and maybe get a cool reassignment or switch to a cool MOS/get a SOF selection slot quick”

>infantry
>bonus

No joke I met a guy with 11b and a 50k bonus once. TX national guard.

Read above, they actually gave me one lol
I just picked through all the options I qualified for and took airborne and the bonus. Not my first rodeo when it comes to filing through the fine print to look for goodies

Please tell me it is at least 3 years and a day. You don’t want to get stuck with 90% on a GI Bill. And you’ll be in airborne school for the summer? What the fuck user. Just tell them you realized it’s a shit contract and ask for something for 3.5 or 4 years with a fat bonus slapped on. Doesn’t matter too much what it is unless it’s intel, finance or medical because you’re just going to be LARPing and painting rocks either way.

I meant big Army

How much?

The cap is 40k unless it’s a reenlistment or reclass.

Yes and I pay absolutely as little as possible you fucking idiot and I dont go above and beyond to enlist and support them. God youre dense

4 grand. Not big but it’s something at least.

I’ll have to look through it again but it’s something like 3 years and 16 weeks 4 days.
I’m not too worried about the GI bill, I hold certs in a skilled trade and also a CDL A so I’m just doing the infantry mostly to see if I like it and also to get the “young guy” shit out of me before I’m too old

Ask him to please slap the stupid out of you and then give you a ride to the nearest votech or community college's registrar.

Why the fuck would you enlist as active infantry with a degree? You’re going to graduate with one of like 8-10 degrees required for being a CID agent, do that.

Cool. You just need 3 years and a day for 100%. Not to be offensive or anything, but if your certs were enough then why join? That’s a real commitment to go into just for fun. It’s really worth considering picking up something with a language code. 35P or 35N/M with language in the contract. You can get 45 credits or an AA just for finishing DLI and an extra $400 a month for not sucking at your language. That blows your bonus out of the water. Get paid to learn and fuck Air Force thots on the weekend. Or Navy if you’re into weird shit. If you fail out and aren’t a fat piece of shit with an attitude problem then they’ll be happy to send you off to infantry or whatever. Just something to think about.

All of your friends now in "school" obviously didn't waste their time because college is fucking free for them now, perks of serving at least 3 years active enlisted and getting honorably discharged is the full post 9-11 GI bill or Montgomery gi bill.

Honestly I chose infantry cause I’m getting up into my late 20s now and I wanted to do old fashioned army man stuff like how I used to imagine as a kid. I’ve got nothing else going on except I’m kind of bored of my trade and want to take a break doing something else before I really settle down and get into it, so this was mostly just a big “YOLO” move on my part. Was it the most intelligent thing I could have done? No, but I’d rather not live my life thinking “what if”

Fair enough then. Good luck

so whats the top picks for RASP? I was going to go 11b but other anons told me that would be retarded

cause I want to do cool army man shit. I can be a cop after wards

11x op40 is the biggest one that needs to be filled but please understand that if you go this route, you will watched much harder during RASP, and life as a new 11B/C without a tab in the regiment is shit until you deploy or go to ranger school. You will be the little bitch boy until then. Lots of people fail out or get RFSed because of that.

T. Someone who has heard things from people who were in the 75th

you can come back and gloat when you've been a seal or marsoc for 4 years

What's with all you faggots trying to become intel or in intel....if you're going to rasp be a fucking man and join as an 11B or 68W. You fucking brainlet.

t. Former Bat fag

Hey buddy is true at all? Just curious.

which is precisely why Im leaning towards intel, Id rather spend time in the army first, try to get the tab and at least have an MOS that could help with employment afterwards

GO AIR FORCE !!!!!!!
best advice I can offer.

because some of us have an IQ higher than 3rd grader and dont want to be jerking off in the motor pool for 4 years
>b..but my recruiter said I would be a bad ass and jump out of planes and shoot big guns like in those commercials
If I had a dollar for every poor bastard that spent their contracts crying in the barracks that this was "lame' and "when can we deploy" I wouldnt have needed my pension. I didnt need it anyway, since I got an intel job, deployed with combat units and got set up in a career right after while GI joe cluster fuck has a pain killer addiction and works at McDonald's

thats my back up plan if I cant go intel or combat arms. Not my first choice but Im still open to it

>have a bachelors degree
>enlist in the army anyway
why tho

butthurt intel fag lmao. Rangers are the ones who actually go on raids, kill people, and constantly deploy.

don't give them any personal info that doesn't relate to the job.

Where the fuck is /meg/?

> equating SEALs and MARSOC

gimme a sec

...

inst intel one of the MOS's the Rangers take?
surely they dont ONLY take from 11b
>armytimes.com/news/your-army/2016/04/18/be-an-army-ranger-now-long-list-of-job-opportunities/

How would actually do that without pissing off the recruiter?
Make some remarks about how you will ask the recruiters of the other branches for their closest equivalent MOS if you don't get what you want?

I’d rather not contemplate suicide as an 11broomstick

At least intel lets you do comfy office shit with the POSSIBILITY of doing badass army man shit in wartime and leave making $100K a week after ETS.

Who cares if you piss off your recruiter, you'll literally never see him again. You owe him nothing.

I never said they don't take intel. I said the Rangers actually go out and do high speed shit. They don't just sit around in the barracks and motor pool for years never deploying like regular infantry.

so why would I not want to go intel and RASP? Worst case scenerio if I dont make the cut Ill get recycled back into intel and Ill have a better MOS then a hoorah infantry alcoholic
>if youre already thinking you wont make it then youre a pussy
shit happens, I know I have what it takes but if I break a bone or some shit I want some security.

Because if you go intel in Ranger regiment, you won't be the guy going out their doing high speed shit. You'll still be in an office on BAF working on a computer.

The Bat has their own cooks, but that doesn't mean they're flying out with the 11Bang bangs to go on raids. Same for intel.

For real though, if you're not willing to do 4 years as a regular grunt, you won't make it in the Bat.

what about 35L or 35M vs other intel analyst jobs? Since theyre supposed to work in the field sometimes as well

With what do all the specialist POGs (like intel) in the ranger regiment actually spent their time with? How different is it from normal army duty?

Im more than willing to do 4-8 years as a grunt, in fact that was my original plan. Then other posters toild me how shit it was, and not just because youre a grunt. Low morale, no transferable skills in the outside world, piss poor training and babysitting 18 year olds. Like most others, I want to sign up and do soldeir shit, even if that means doing grunt bitch work. But from what ive read, peacetime in the infantry means you wont even be doing that. So I looked at intel as a go between

Oh yeah. Let me just drop 10k on some “tactical training”. I can hardly afford an ar. You’ll never get the kind of training the military offers from a couple day classes. Shit being a professionally trained man at arms takes at least 2 years of constant training.

Why Army?

Overall you will do more high speed shit than the same job at a non ranger unit, I knew a cook in an SF unit who was taught how to steal cars and make IEDs and shit. Never got to do that stuff on deployment, but he was learnt how non the less.

For intel, I'd imagine for the most part, they'd actually do their job description. Intel in non Ranger or SF units basically just make powerpoints about how it's dangerous to go to Mexico on leave. Idk which MOS would ever go outside the wire and which ones don't, since I don't know the details of the various intel MOSes.

That said, IMO as Mr. Miyagi said, you can walk on the left side of the road or the right, but in the middle SQUISH. Basically, if your gonna be a POG, I just wouldn't go Airborne or Ranger or anything. And if you do wanna go Ranger, go 11B, 13F, or 68W with option 40.

I'd avoid intel at all cost, see if you can do something like 68W. Get civilian skills and you'll get to do cool shit like try to save pigs lives who's bellie's they just sliced open.

something happened to me years ago before I singed
>20 years old
>hated my construction job and dream of being in the army
>contact a recruiter to ask questions
>meet at his office, hes pretty chill and tells me as long as Im honest, even if it means he doesnt get me to sign, it makes his job easier and he doesnt care if I enlist or not
>set up another appointment once I have a better idea of what I want
>cant meet him again, meet another recruiter
>this guy was a complete and utter prick
>tell him In not sold on anything yet, and I more or less agreed with my boss I would work for the summer until he found new people so I didnt leave him short staffed
>this recruiter tells me im wasting his time, why even come in unless Im ready to go, he has more important things to do
>then he stands literally over me and says "we can get you to take the ASVAB next week, you dont have to sign anything, but you'll at least know your score. Come up, Ill sign you up"
>I try to politely decline because this feels like a scam, I dont want to accidentaly sign up in 24 hours hours, but hes persistent
>"My man, Its just a test, now come on whats your phone number so we can reach you"
>give him my number and then GTFO, avoid his calls for the next week
>the first recruiter calls me and asks what happened, I tell him I was not at all ready for that shit and just wanted to talk
>he laughs, says the black guy is a douche and was mocking the 'scared white kid" that wasnt man enough to go through with it
>he agrees to meet with me when im ready and not to sweat it

ended up going as a combat engineer later that year. The point is, recruiters are basically car salesmen, some are good others are shit. I know how intimidating it can be, but stand your ground. You owe them nothing. If you piss them off it literally doesnt matter

Attached: 1506534533191.png (500x550, 114K)

Navy and Airforce seems to be an overwhelming amount of intel/engineer or trade jobs and not a lot of combat arms and Marines are all grunts. Army seems to have the perfect balance of combat arms and other specialty trades that I can work with

Forgot to add about 68W, if you get sent to a normal combat arms unit, you'll have other medics as your direct supervisors, not infantry, arty, etc. So you'll get to miss most of their bullshit.

see when I say intel, Im not referring to analysts or engineers. I know those guys will be the ones behind a desk 99% of the time, from what ive found, the 35L and M series is the most in the field of all the Intel units
playing devils advocate it seems like my two options are
>go 11b infantry
>hate life but maybe get to do a bit more action then intel but seldom if ever get to deploy and have no transferable skills or a resume
vs
>go intel
>dont get to do as much high speed lo drag ops as combat arms, but it seems like infantry doesnt do that these anyhow
>not the true "solider life" Ive wanted but at least its useful

both have their pros and cons. Im really aiming for an option 40 either way, but if I wash out I think intel is an overall better deal then infantry

Just FYI for other people, you can take the ASVAB and go through medical you won't be under any obligation.

Rule of thumb, if you haven't picked your job yet, you're under absolutely no obligation. Even after you pick your job, you still have time to back out or change jobs. I forget exactly what the point of no return is though.

to get this thread back on track, what are some other general benefits and bonuses I should inquire about as a college graduate looking for active duty army?

Attached: 1547742854094.jpg (448x484, 174K)

I know that now, but at the time it seemed like I was going to end up on the bus that night and it really sucked

were you the same user that was telling us not to join the infantry?
field ops all day erry day, to the detriment of morale
>clean the motor pool
>gunnery
>clean the motor pool
>lol barracks inspection no passes for anyone
>clean the motor pool
>bradley maintenance x 1000
>csm called, the motor pool is filthy
>oh look our base had its 25th suicide this year, I think its because soldiers aren't getting enough pt
>hey we're doing eib testing in a week, lets cram all train ups into that week yes that includes the weekend
>I'm just gonna supervise while you guys do this t. e4
>clean the motor pool

idk theres a bunch of anons now telling everyone infantry sucks. I was kind of looking forward to it

Hi Mike.

Can you be a good NCO if you’re autistic? I tried to give off a fatherly vibe and people called me creepy

If you’re 35L and ranger you’ll be tagging along for combat

this is what I want to know. Im worried that no matter what I will make the wrong choice but ill have to pull the trigger on something

Attached: 1488343262992.jpg (204x193, 8K)

What's worse as a peacetime MOS: 11B or 19K?

I really really need to know
T. Totally didn't sign a 3 year 17 week contract for 19K
