What is your ideal/ dream rifle? Cost not an issue

So what would your ideal/ dream rifle be?

Me:
>McMillan TAC .338
>34mm Sphur Rings

Tier 1 Optics, one of the following
>Schmidt and Bender PMII 5-25x56
>Tangent Theta
>IOR Valdada
>Nightforce BEAST
>Steiner Military
>Premier Reticle
>TacomHQ

I find the .338LM to be my all around favorite caliber. You can conduct HTI ops if need be, or hunt most animals with it, or take out soft targets if need be. I'm also a fan of its ballistic capability. For this setup, including anyone of the optics listed above along with the THQ the overall price tag would easily teeter on 10k+ which is why it's my dream rifle.

What is your dream rifle?

K98k byf44 is all I need to remove shitskins, bolsheviks and (((them))).

Good choice. Classic, reliable too.

Haha, I shot one of these in the Corps and youll never even get to hold one, haha.

Whats the caliber and zero for that dope card?

Just slap a scope on some m16 and youll have something equally useless as that pos

>Haha, I shot one
Haha I was assigned one in the Army on two deployments.

Haha, nice, haha.

It was.
Nothing makes life more boring than combat deployments.
>I'm dead inside and everything is unfulfilling and monotonous.
>ok

>Titanium defiance action or just an ARC Mausingfield
>26" heavier contour proof research carbon wrapped barrel 1:8 twist
>side ported brake
>mcmillan Edge A3 stock (lighter)
>7rm
>195 grain berger elite or 180 grain eldm
>some kind of atlas without the QD so lower profile
>some kind of 30-34mm tube high dollar christmas tree reticle with between 3 and 5 power on the low side and 18 to 25 power on the high side. Preferably in MOA instead of mil. Or just a Hensoldt ZF 3.5-26x56 to flex and force myself to use mil.
My gun is going to be much lighter than yours with similar range.
What bullet choice you want?

I own my dream rifle. Feels good man

your bolt is on the wrong side.

what caliber and do you handload?

My dream gun is an original Colt Model 1851 Navy, but my dream rifle would either be a mint condition Thai Type 91 Arisaka or a Kentucky rifle made around the Revolutionary War period.

>ideal/ dream rifle
lethal
never runs out of ammo
never stops working

sadly such a gun has not been made

The bolt is on the good side :^) chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. I have a dillon press, but i buy and shoot factory Hornady 140 ELD until Prime unfucks themselves. I don't have time to handload.
>not pictured: TBAC ultra 9, currently 8 months into its prison sentence.

Your choice in cartridge, action, and optics is very 2011

You deserve to be shamed for buying factory and being wrong handed but it's a nice rifle. I hope you at least keep your brass.
Have you gotten to varmint with it yet?

I can agree with this user. Try again OP, build it.

Oh sweet summer child, You don't know of the left handed shooter advantage do you? It involves the physics of rifling twist direction, torque, and shooter position. Lots of top guys are getting their barrels rifled by Bartlein in left handed twists to get the same advantage i get from being left handed shooting right hand twist rifled barrels (ie, all modern barrels).

As for varmint shooting, ground squirrels are not worth the cost of 6.5 creed ammo. I flip ground squirrels them with 22lr

Excellent setup. For me, I know the 308 drop pretty well, I was trained essentially with 308 ammo, M118 to be exact. But I love the .338LM , it would be my all around cartridge. I would reload the ammo myself, so no $3-4 per bullet issues for me. It's the rifle itself that is costly. I already got the SB PMii with a LRF4 reticle, no Christmas tree lol.

34mm tubes or larger are gtg. The IOR has those, the Schmidts, Thetas.. The rings for 34mm all seem o be $150 or more, unless you want walmart rings holding that 3k+ scope in place.

Meant for

Dammit.. (Breathing heavily with jealousy)

What would be very (2019) then? I can't keep up with the market, they come out with something new it seems every two months or less. I'm all ears though.

Start saving up. Thin your herd to the essential three: 1 rifle, 1 pistol 1 shotgun. Watch for second hand sales on gunbroker and SH. Time and patience in a culture of instant gratification are true virtues.

FG42 in .308

>taking memes this seriously
>not exploding anything that moves at every oppurtunity with your expensive toy
>"paper punching is more important than blood enchanting rifles"
Stop being big gay and apply the rifle. Animals at random ranges moving back and forth are a challenge to better yourself and a bonding experience with your rifle.

>you're not enjoying your things the way I want
You can pay for my ammo and give me access to some land, and i'll shoot at whatever vermin you want. Also, what makes you assume i only shoot paper?

Correct.
Moving targets prepare you for the real life situations.
It drives me crazy seeing people who claim to be very good shots go to a range, stand or lay in one place, as they shoot at a target that is also standing still. That is nice for chronographing, zeroing, and load development. But for literal real world application it sucks big hairy donkey dick

Shuffs MMG ultra shorty .308 modified to take AR-10 mags instead of M14 style mags.

I don't take 700 yard shots at moving elk or antelope. What "real world application" are you meming? Coyotes? Are you implying i should be training to shoot moving people at range?

He knows. Another gripe I have is not practicing primarily on the first round hit but instead flinging bullets (sighters) until theyre on target and claiming ____ yards is easy since they can keep ringing steel from the same spot after the sighters.
I meant only for helpful bullying. I have to remind myself that not everyone has access.
What state or country are you in? Some have large amounts of public land to practice on and it's a great test of equipment and skill driving somewhere new, hiking in a distance, and being able to land a round on the first shot.
If all else fails, try hard to make friends with a farmer. Theyd love the work you could do with the rifle.

>I don't take 700 yard shots at moving elk or antelope
Well that would be a bit reckless at that distance.
>What "real world application" are you meming?
Id assume he means the same as I in that they might move after ranging them before you can line up a shot or that theyre hidden and you have to start planning shots at various ranges for when they step out, and having to account for changing ranges inbetween your range card while under the influence of adrenaline. It's such an awesome rush to connect after that and builds confidence.
>Are you implying i should be training to shoot moving people at range?
Come on now m8

Wow, how utterly pedestrian

Not that guy but I dont know the direction 2019 will take. Gradient twists, warner tool bullets, and generally custom builds come to mind. Optics, I dont know.
Nothing wrong with 338LM, the craze died down a while back and Ive heard of less people going that direction but it's still a great and effective cartridge though Im not sure what bullets people use in them right now. 338 Norma is pretty neat and offers magazine space for even longer bullets but doesnt have LM's speed. Of course that means longer barrel life and less compensating for lands as you shoot. I have seen more interest in the classic long action magnums but in many different calibers.
Nothing wrong with your choices, I think theyd do everything you want, just not unique enough for some people is my guess.

just a fal

I don't wish to have anything beyond the 2-3k price point, and I'll have them in my lifetime. Anything more I'd be scared to actually use, and I don't want a safe queen. My dream guns include a variety of service rifles with quality optics. I suppose I could and will likely spend more on a distance stretching rifle, but that's not what I'm currently into.
Among the guns I'd consider dream tier are:
AK74M clone dressed up like in the Metro games
MP5 clone with wood furniture
Artillery Luger
Steyr AUG
I already have gotten two of my dream guns, the vz-58 and a quality G3 clone. The only thing that could make these better is FA, but it's not something I'll ever legally achieve or even want to.
Least achievable is a MG42 or MG3, and that would probably crown my list of dream guns.
Yes, I'm a poorfag

It looks like a mess of mustard and potato hues but is somehow aesthetic to me. Maybe because I have an idea of how much it cost. The lines are nice too.

Now comment on the other three.

20mm upscaled M1 garand and anzio ironworks 20mm rifle

Nice.

Dream raifu is an M200 in .408. A McMillan or MDR in .338 would be nice too. I’m good as far as optics go but an IOR would be cool.

If cost isn't an issue any one of those 20mm bolt actions would be legit.

Dammit.. Rubbing it in now huh? Lol

What glass are you running if you don't mind me asking?

This.

Yeah pretty much rifle porn to me at this point teehee!

Speaking of, does this dream include ammo? Because I know what mine is if so.
