What’s your favorite .22 firearm?

Tired of spending all my money on ammo at the range

That new .22lr pistol that kel-tec is coming out with looks cool

22lr is so fucking boring it's unreal. Just shoot 9mm or 223 at the range if you're poor.

Second this. I'm on the fence between buying a .22LR rifle, or a Hi-Point 9mm carbine for the same price. Throwing 400 rounds a month of 5.56 down range is getting costly. But I'm tentative about buying a round that's only good for plinking. Does a .22LR HO round actually do anything damage wise? I'm assuming .22LR can at least be used for hunting small game right?

Personally OP, I've heard good things about the various types of Ruger 10/22. I was eyeing specifically the Takedown model. And apparently if the round isn't a high enough grain, the rifle doesn't cycle properly, or so I'm told. My coworker swears by CCI brand .22LR. their common stuff is 40gr and they make hollowpoints too.

Single shot of any sort. I use a winchester 67 when im REALLY hard up for money and still want to shoot something. Heck i can even do it in my backyard if im feeling really lazy. A 23 inch barrel and cci quiets make it sound like an airgun.

Yeah .22lr hollow points will do damage, so will lead round nose. They're enough to kill a man, albeit probably not quickly unless it's a CNS shot. You can definitely hunt small game with a .22lr

I got a Savage 64f from Walmart for $100, it's semi automatic and lots of fun since ammo costs a mere $0.05 cents per round. Drawback is there are only 10-round mags available for it, that's max capacity. Charge handle and mag release are a bit stubby but they're easily replaced by aftermarkets. Fun little plinker, tends to jam occasionally with cheap ammo if not well maintained.

I also havea 9mm and 556/223, the cheaper of the two are 9mm at 17 cents per round (granted you run brass only) and that's still more than triple the ammo cost of .22. Also, it's fun to mag dump 22's because there's almost no recoil it's like shooting an air rifle.

Attached: S64F.jpg (2000x517, 68K)

Hmm. I'm now definitely considering a semi-auto .22LR rifle. 1000 rounds if 9mm is $175 at the cheapest. Where as for that price I can get CCI 40gr hollow points for $9 per box of 100.

Unironically my walther g22

GSG Stg 44

That's what someone that doesn't have one would say

I'm torn, honestly. Sometimes it's the old Ruger 22/45, sometimes it's the Uberti Cattleman, and sometimes it's the NAA Earl 3".

Honestly? Prolly the Earl. It's so odd/fun to shoot, works as a good deep carry with some 22WMR when I can't stuff my LCR into my asshole (we all have tight days, user). That said, the Ruger is likely the better choice for a range toy.

Ok, so long story short, get pic related and rip off the ugly pic rails (unless you need an optic) and get a can. Enjoy quiet fun pew pews, pretend you are an assassin.

Attached: 3.jpg (475x250, 24K)

Yes and I'm sure you have one yourself and aren't spouting something you saw from youtube by some yokel who used standard velocity ammo in it like a fucking retard

Attached: 20190320_132630.jpg (1040x780, 170K)

Been thinking the same thing, OP. Considering an AR-7 since it might actually be useful to me beyond just practicing/plinking. Anyone have one? How is it?

>22lr is so fucking boring it's unreal. Just shoot 9mm or 223 at the range if you're poor.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

But the older & more experienced I get, the more I appreciate high quality .22LRs. The Beretta 87 Target remains one of my favorite pistols. And I've come to the point where I even contemplate spending as much on a .22LR tactical trainer and glass as I did on my AI AT & Steiner M5Xi 5-25x56...
I'll admit it's a bit decadent, but certainly doesn't fall under the category of "too poor to shoot centerfire".

Attached: Beretta87Target-2.gif (591x374, 24K)

No, pretty much entirely because the mag sucks.

There’s an old boomer saying that goes:
If you don’t like shooting 22lr, you don’t like shooting.

I am really considering a browning buckmark to build a fun .22 range and comp pistol out of. I want to throw a red dot on it, get a threaded barrel and either run a form 1 can or a comp on the end.

the more people I talk to the more people recommend it over the mark IV and the SW22

Works fine for me

>practices dry fire on regular non-22 items to be super cheap
Walther HK MP5 in 22 and a Beretta M9-22. Get range time and trigger practice warm up before moving over to 5.56 and 9mm.

for rifles its my 10/22
for pistols its my ruger bearcat

Isnt this gun a pos?

Hate to say it but I almost wish these were just a little bit lighter. The gsg mp40 on the other hand is a fucking blast.

There are airsoft guns that have better construction, a lot of them.

Find literally any other .22 if it’s one of the new ones you’re looking at.

Every serious enthusiast on here should have at least one fun that shoots .22lr

Pic related is currently my only .22 firearm. It's a nice target shooter, but the mags are shit. they often cause double feeds and it happened at least twice that an unfired cartridge popped out of the mag while cycling and stove piped RIGHT AT THE RIM between the slide and the barrel. Good thing that the force of the slide wasn't enough to set them off.
I haven't shot it for years for exactly that reason.
Before that I had an Hämmerli 280, a NAA Mini Master and a Ruger Mk. III Target with a Volquartsen trigger kit.

I regret selling the Mk. III. If I'll buy a .22 again it'll most probably be a Mk. IV Target or a 22/45.

Attached: Hämmerli Xesse.jpg (800x600, 316K)

My favorite bolt 22 is my CZ.

Attached: 9isRcVZ.jpg (1024x768, 195K)

Hammerli X-Esse have pretty excellent reputations. Have it looked at. Might be easy to fix?

You should own one honestly, they're cheap as fuck. I got a Mossberg 702 for like $110 out the door

Thanks for the input. I know that they were poorly constructed for a while after production moved from Armalite. I had heard though that more recent (e.g. past decade) production at Henry was supposed to be better. Any idea if this is true? Or are the problems inherent to the design?

rem 597 costed 250$ ammo is cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap compared to 25-06/

Get a heritage rough rider for a hundred bucks. No magazines, accurate enough to be a rabbit gun, and a ton of fun to shoot if you don't have a real single action yet

Anyone know if CA allows standard capacity mags on .22LR rifles?

Attached: 2d0.jpg (250x365, 80K)

I have a Brno Model 2 that I love to shoot. I also have a Heritage Rough Rider, but I shoot most of my .22 ammo out of my Brno.

the henry ar-7s are solid guns

Yes, the armalites ones are shit.
But the Henry are well made and work great.

Hello NOGUNZ.

One of my boys was flexing this one on me 22 wmr

Attached: 20037150.jpg (410x410, 15K)

I have a Ruger American in 22lr.
Very accurate and has an adjustable trigger.
It's probably my favorite gun.

lol noguns

(Sip) they don't make 'em like they used to... Effing hilary hole...

Attached: 0112180901.jpg (2560x1280, 1.12M)

No. 10 round limit for mags, but if they are a tube mag then it's exempt.

My favorite is the Mp5 22

Attached: download.jpg (305x165, 5K)

Ruger Charger with Archangle setup, most solid .22 I've owned hands down.

If you can't SBR it or get an arm brace(to never be put up to your shoulder obviously) and don't want the pistol carbine setup, get the full size 10/22 which they also make the kit for.

I own a HK g36 .22 and while it is fun and accurate it is extremely picky about ammo causing FTF issues. Pistols were always meh for me, but the Ruger MK IV and walther p22 are fun, own them both.

Lever action .22 are fun, but you will get called a Fudd.

>tfw I was straight up embarrassing two AR fags on the 100 yard range with my $150 Marlin 795 last weekend, and all for 3 CPR.
They had me well beat on the tacticool front, tho. I don't think I've ever seen that much molle in my life outside of a 5.11 store.

I have an old AMT Lightning 25/22 and it's a fucking blast.

I recently bought a new in the box Henry AR-7 and it fired flawlessly any type of shitty random .22 LR I put into the magazines without cleaning or oiling it first. In fact it worked better than my Ruger 10/22 which seems to be a jam-o-matic either from a shitty ass extractor or the shitty ass rotary magazines.

The most pleasant part of the Henry is it is accurate as shit right out of the box. When you take it down and reassemble it the fucking thing remains accurate. I had an old fudd at the range ask me how the hell i could even see my targets let alone hit them and he gave me a boomer pat on the back and a "thats alright shootin son" when he saw my groups.

Also the bolt is the simplest thing to dissemble and clean I have ever seen.
Seriously you will not be disappointed.
Buy one, they are dirt cheap and worth every penny. It fits into a tiny backpack when it breaks down and it is very light.

Attached: Under-no-pretext-should.jpg (650x391, 93K)

My guess is that the magazine feed lips are way too weak. They are made out of plastic without steel reinforcement, it seems. Maybe one day I'll buy a new mag to see if I just got unlucky that both of my mags are utter shit.
The gun itself had a very sharp edge at the opening of the camber right after the feeding ramp where the rounds often got stuck and then banana'd by the slide. Since i beveled it, it ran fine with everything from low power target ammo up to CCI Stingers.
Maybe I've gotten a total lemon, but it sure changed my opinion about non-swiss-made Hämmerlis.

Mossberg 702 plinkster

the buck has always been a nice pistol out of the box. The mk series pistols follows normal ruger m.o. of being good enough out of box while having good aftermarket support. Now that the IV is now idiot proof in disassembly, all it really needs is a new trigger and it'll be on par with the buckmark.

Colt Woodsman 2nd Series Match Target; shoots laser accurate. Bought it because it was in Kino's Journey.

1959 Model 514 Remington bolt action. She's a tack driver and hell on small game.

>3 CPR

huh?

these posts have unironically sold me on .22s

Honestly, when this clears NFA jail, I know it will put my CZ 427 out of commission for a while.

Start reloading. You can do it to be cheap or you can do it to be fancy, it really is your choice. You will want to get rid of your 22lr once you start reloading because they take up the space of the guns you spend more time with.

>What’s your favorite .22 firearm?

Tossup between a Ruger Mk II 22/45 and a CZ 455.

>Hey hey, fella, welcome to the Tops Hotel and Casino! I'm going to have to ask you to hand over any weapons you might be carrying.

Okay.

Henry Golden Boy

Anyone who says otherwise that’s ever shot one is full of shit. Affordable way to LARP as a cowboy and fun as hell. Turns some heads at the range too (at least where I live)

Cents per round you newfaggot.

It's jews and gun grabbers here from the NZ shooting

i have a gsg its pretty good

>Long gun
Crickett 22lr single shot bolt action
>wheel gat
Heritage arms rough rider
>assault pistol as the blues call it
Iwi uzi in 22lr
>assault rifle as the Democrats call it
Mp15-22
>best shotgun/rifle twofer
Rossi 410/22lr barrels
I um.... I really like 22lr

my TakeDown 10-22 always functioned but the one I bought new was getting around 5-6 MOA from a rest. Regardless of ammo. To Ruger's credit they fixed it up and now she's about a 2 MOA gun. But I would go a different direction now.
Also, I try hard not to be a trigger snob but that's a really bad trigger. And the stock sights are terrible too. So if you figure 300 for the gun, you're probably in another 100 (50 for sights another 50 for a trigger guard), and probably 100 bucks in mags, so 600 for a fun shooter.

Take a hard look at a CZ 455. Powerful lot of quality for the money. If you're just looking for a plinker? Go to your local gunshop and browse the used 22s. Also the action on a henry is really fucking slick.

trigger replacement*

damn where are you getting 9mm cartridges for 17c. i'm paying over $10 for a box of 50. do i just have to buy in bulk?

Federal Champion 115 grain 9mm 100 rounds for $18.97 at Walmart.

I've been training with this shit for years.

Thanks, I'm gonna go for it.

Heritage Rough Rider
Chiappa 1873-22
H&R 999 Sportsman
Uberti/Cimarron - 1873 Cattleman
Ruger Single Six/Bearcat
Pietta 1873 Single Action

Which one and why?

oh man you've never thought to buy ammo online?

Brass can be had for as cheap as 16.7cpr

I don't even remember the name of the company that makes this stock, but with a short barrel it makes for a nice, handy and versatile little 10/22 set-up.

Attached: 20190320_234622.jpg (1919x929, 146K)

i'm drunk, fuck you but thanks

RB Precision Evolution stock I believe.

Yeah, that's it.

what dot/rail?

> Shipping
Just go to Walmart like a normie.

Attached: s-l1000.jpg (576x431, 36K)

Rail came with the gun.

Dot is a Nikon Spur. It's okay, but don't get it if you want to mount it on a centerfire gun. The hole pattern is special snowflake, an absolutely retarded move on Nikon's part.

That had to be fun.
Wish I had been there to join in.
My Ultra Lux would have done it with iron sights.

henry 22 any fun? theres some for sale here...
