What do you all use to defend your home...

What do you all use to defend your home? I live in an apartment with people to my right and above and I cant fucking decide what the best choice might be. There might NOT be a best choice considering the walls are cheapo drywall little better than cardboard. I have a mossman 500 with some highbrass #4 birdshot at the moment and I desperately hope it wont punch through 2-3 layers of drywall and kill a neighbor but can still oneshot someone 10-15 feet away

Try buckshot to punch some serious arteries.

That would depend a lot on the layout. "To the right" doesn't help me a lot. Not trying to be catty, that wasn't meant to sound shitty. I'm assuming you mean like in pic related. It would really depend on how your doors and hallways are situated.

#4 buck or smaller would probably be OK. A shockwave with a brace is super compact and lowers the velocity just a touch. I would stay away from bird shot, even at very close range it has issues. Definitely avoid pistols and rifles though. Maybe super light 5.7 would work too, assuming you don't miss.

I live in an apartment as well.
I have a P365 on my nightstand, a mossman 500 next to the nightstand, 2 ARs next to that, another shotgun next to those, a glock 17 and a glock 22 next to that, a 1911 next to those, and a desert eagle next to that.
Next to the deagle I have a .308 pistol and an AK pistol.

Every one of them is loaded with a round in the chamber, shotguns are cruiser ready.
If someone breaks into my place, it's gonna get loud.

Planned setup for next month
>Remmy 870 HD wood
>ryovak "Indestructible" flashlight mounted between mag tube and barrel
>rifle sights
>side saddle of 000 buck
>buttstock shell carrier of slugs
Thots? I need something long lasting and effective while I save up for a mk23 and all the add ons I have planned for that
Current setup
>Litterally just my CC pistol and a flashlight

Attached: received_753635518018386.jpg (960x540, 47K)

depends on what I played with last. my AR is always locked and loaded by my bed but that thing is heavy as fuck and not really a good apartment defense. Honestly though, it's 90% of the time my glock 19 gen 5 just because I know it will always work, and that the night sights are bright af

Sounds pretty good to me. The 870 is my favorite shotgun even though new ones can be sketchy. My main HD gun is a USP with an extendo and TLR1s.

Never got why people would have multiple guns out if you live alone, i can see a pistol for that late night knock at your door and a long gun if you know someones inside already.

Unless you’re machamp. Lol

20 inch M16a4 clone. Not totally clone correct because I have a Surefire M600 and a Aimpoint PRO on it.

I have a VP9 with night sights, but I don't have a light for that. Feels like I should get one, but I don't want to.

>implying I live alone
All but two of the guns I listed are in an open safe 4' from my bed, I was just being dramatic since they all live in the same metal box together. I close the safe when I'm not home (unless my wife stays home), it stays open otherwise.

Carbine rifle, 10-14" barrel using 5.56 NATO ammo with brass casing for reliability. Get M-LOK handguard and put a flashlight on it. All you need.

My legs. NJ citizens have a duty to flee before meeting their assailant with only equal force.

PTR-91, Bayonet, Malaysian L2A2

Fuck the neighbors

I use a Draco "pistol" with a 40 round magazine. Also have a Px4 loaded and ready. These are probably not the best for you with your shitty apartment walls and worries of over penetration.

>oneshot someone
Do not rely on one shot. If they get one they get several, especially with bird shot. Just because it's a shotgun doesn't mean it's going to instantly drop them even with slugs. This is apparently a common thing with shotguns, people shoot once expecting the guy to be dead as fuck even when it's cheap 2 3/4" birdshot from wal-mart. As much as some people act like it's about as effective as shooting them with an airsoft gun it's absolutely not. Birdshot can and will fuck shit up if you're close enough, like in a typical apartment. It's certainly not ideal as there are MUCH better shells out there but it can work. You should get your hands on some buckshot and a couple slugs just in case. If you're worried load bird in the chamber and half the tube, other half buck, then slugs in a side saddle where you can pop'em in if you need.

If you don't want any over penetration risk period melee is also a solid option if the ranges are short enough in your apartment. A short spear or a sword can still be brutal in close quarters even if the home invader's got his glawk fowtee in his waistband. Just make sure to go and learn how to actually use what you pick and practice with a dummy in your apartment so you know how to get the bad guy and not fuck yourself over. If you have short enough space to get the drop on an intruder and before they can properly react it can still work just fine even if it's a thousand year old sword design. If you can still react appropriately with a guy slashing and stabbing you with a sword or other nasty thing then you're a tougher man than most or a liar. Guns are still going to be the better choice in just about every scenario but this is an option.

9mm Beretta loaded with 147gr hollowpoints. Don't want to shoot my neighbor due to too much penetration.

That’s about the safest option in your situation. Is it the best thing to defend your home with? Probably not, but if a major concern is over penetration, then high brass birdshot is about as god as it gets.

maybe consider smaller #4 or #1 buckshot loads since overpenetration seems to be a notable concern of yours

sounds fine imo

I've got a Winchester 1300 loaded up with #4 in the corner but by my bed I keep my Glock 19 17+1, and a 30 rnd mag by it. I'd probably grab the Glock the shotgun is just there for whatever. Also an AR near shotgun I wouldn't use

I wanted entry/exits on dead hogs with 77gr tmk tho :s

Lol ohhhhh wasn’t sure what you wanted. sorry user I don’t have any pictures to share didn’t think about it at the time, it was the first time hunting and my first kill/kills. I can say that at about 80 yards the TMK was fragmenting out of a 14.5” and fucked up the two hogs I shot.

get a baseball bat

Even though I live in a concrete cube apartment, the walls are thick, I am afraid for the family straight across the door, because I would give chase guns blazing.
A 22.lr pistol might be the safest option´to ensure neighbour safety. And from what I've read, perpetrators usually flee at the slightest hint of armed resistance.
desu, a blank pistol might do the job, but I'd rather have them panic about removing that small ball of lead in the lung, rather than giving just a spook

Why would you pick an unreliable Ammo
In a life/ death situation Just to try and mitigate the off chance your bullet leaves your home, enters your neighbors at just the right spot to hit them.

I have been in a fight a couple of times.
What I learned from myself is that I go blind with red, but I fully function, and hear white noise until the fight is over.
If I had a firearm in those situations, especially when my home and wife are on the line, its best to minimize the collateral.
>I know it sounds fucking corny, but that is how it is

I like this. I really love this new push for short barrels on things that don’t require NFA paperwork. Don’t get me wrong, actual stocks are nicer but who doesn’t love choices. I need a 12gauge in my life and I’m leaning toward a short barrel

Attached: 13D4FA96-AE07-476B-9509-496D002F7FC7.jpg (3024x4032, 2.26M)

You should minimize the collateral by not getting your shit pushed in after your 22lr doesn’t go off and doesn’t eject properly

Thoughts on the Mossberg 500 retrograde?

I have the same setup with a 18.5 barrel. I’m ordering a bayonet on Monday. Just custom built my cap.

Id rather give $100 to Sb tactical than $200 to the ATF

>What do you all use to defend your home?
An AR
>I have a mossman 500 with some highbrass #4 birdshot at the moment
Dumb choice.

***PROTIP***
>you can pre-plan your home to prepare against potential overpenetration, a gunfight in your living space is a home game
>bookcases with shit loaded in them in areas that are likely to be around an attacker’s route of approach

***PROTIP***
It also behooves you to be proficient with your firearms usage. Shooting stupid fast looks cool on instagram but have a very strict standard of accuracy and know where to hit someone
>high center chest, 5 to 8 inch circles at the range for practice
>cranial vault, 3x5 index card or 2 inch circles for practice

Using a .223 AR15 and understanding your holdovers is a fantastic HD weapon. They provide great lethality while being the least dangerous in terms of overpenetration and the obvious one; using an AR at typical home engagement distances is literal babbymode easy.

00 buckshot 12 gauge and a .40 pistol. I'm in the woods so whatever. The odds of you missing an entire round of buckshot at 15 feet, having it sail through only drywall on its way through two apartments, and then hitting a person 40 feet away, two feet off the ground, lying vertically, are not high. You also probably have a firewall to your right. Worst case just blame the dead guy.

I can understand that but I like guns for reasons other then straight functionality so sometimes I prefer being able to
Put a real stock on it. For my Draco it was nice having a brace on it but I really wanted the classic look so I SBRd it

Attached: B5E26205-7972-443B-8501-7C4F77F6FD6D.jpg (3024x4032, 3.05M)

I was seriously looking into an sbs. My chief concern was the rigidity of the brace. Gotta say, not a let down.

Same here for actual use my SB brace worked well with my AK. I wanted a dong and a wire folding stock though so I bit the bullet. I should g et the AK back from two Rivers arms soon so I’ll see if it was worth it.
I was considering getting a rustington V3 birds head and switching it for a brace instead just for shits and giggles.
How well do SBSs work for things like
Hunting?

MD has the same shit law. Its fucking stupid.

Isnt it just a basic mossberg 500 with wood furniture?

Attached: shrs.jpg (500x506, 65K)

Yes and No

It's a 590 with a thicker barrel, actual sights, heat shield, steel trigger assembly, bayonet lug, and walnut furniture.

That grip is so light for a good couple minutes I thought it wasn't there at and was real fucking confused.

fucking based magazine defense, roll that shit up and go all Jason Bourne on them

>walls are glorified cardboard
You got ripped off, retard. I live in a second world shithole and appartment walls are concrete or brick.

I recognize that range!

>you dont need it for sportshooting
>implying night shooting competitions are not a thing

Nice LARP nogunz
You play Call of Duty?

Yeah, it's a work in progress! No finish yet. Once I get that wood corncob stripped, I'll finish them both to match.

Good eye, guy.

I am in and out of my house so often, than I am usually just strapped when I am at home. So MP 2.0 compact. If its bed time, I got handgun on night stand with a tlr 1 on it. AR 15 next to bed. Also keep a lever action in .44 next to the bed too, because of black bear and cougars.

Between every apartment? I fucking doubt it.

lmao did you make this user?

But that's fucking dumb. If you come home and someone is already inside, you just armed your opposition. Not to mention all your shit will probably just get stolen when you aren't home.

its an A1 with wood and a heat-shield

Attached: gun.jpg (2272x1704, 951K)

I can only wish, but in my shithole you're more likely to get a bigger sentence that the robber if you try defending yourself with a gun.

Attached: 20190323_123103-2268x3024.jpg (2268x3024, 955K)

If I'm not home, all the guns go inside except my CC.
Safe is bolted to apartment floor and wall. I'm not too worried about it.
I dont live in a terrible neighborhood and no one knows I have guns.

Where do you live? I live in GA and I want to go hot hunting for the first time.

>home and wife are on the line
>I'll just use an unreliable and weak firearm instead of choosing a wiser ammo choice or just training

#4 Buck is excellent for what you want. It's still powerful enough at close range, but won't over penetrate too bad.

Also, you shouldn't chase them out the door "guns blazing", that's a great way to kill your neighbors on accident, and then get indicted for murder.

300 meme with a 10.5" barrel and a can.

gross.

WASR with 9 magazines in a sadf chest rig next to the bed and if that fails me I've got the new army that gets shot and reloaded every week. My mossy 500 stays locked up for now as well as the Glock 20, but they get rotated out.
