Giant boob gun lol

god damn it now I can't unsee it

This joke never fails to make me giggle like a bitch every single time. It's almost haunting.

Charge the fucking AT-AT's and plant bombs on the legs, they've only got two blasters per AT-AT, no infantry to defend them, and no air support, so all you need to do is put some guys on speeders and get close.

Mines, let the snow drifts build on the base.Rig it, and bail. That way if they take it, they're going down with it.

>No infantry to defend them
AT-ATs are literally IFVs. Those large bodies are troop carriers. Prepare to get raped by a stormies raining down on you like paras.

AT-ATs have four guns, and the capacity to carry 40 or so troops with room for speeders too. The ones deployed by General Veers on Hoth were also being escorted by dozens of AT-STs as well.

Unironically I would have made the giant ion cannon boob gun able to fire horizontally across the GIANT completely flat killing field that you have to cross to get to the base.

also, just because they aren't depicted well in the movies doesn't mean they are undefended. Even in the movie there was AT-ST's shown walking at the AT-AT's feet giving close support. Also, the guns on the sides of its head, opposed to the main cannons, are shown to be nimble enough to have shot down multiple very fast moving landspeeders.

Really? Youd turn an orbital cannon sideways to shoot around your own base? You gonna let rebel boots fire it too? You know youd wanna use it to blast apart a mountain for fun you think reb boys aren't gonna do the same bullshit and that's why they turned it skywards in the first place?

Tauntaun mounted infantry swing around to the rear of the main Imperial column and hold position while the snowspeeders take out the AT-STs. Hopefully the AT-ATs will continue their advance, and if they do I'll have the mounted troops advance on the AT-ATs and either fire on them with rockets or plant charges on them. Without the AT-STs to function as close support, those AT-ATs are fucked. After that, the boob gun will have all the time in the world to fire on the star destroyers so we can safely make our retreat.

Of course, the Rebels failed to make use of the number of former CIS commanders who offered to join them, so we're stuck with the bullshit we see in Empire.

dont charge the walkers head on with the speeders like retards but actually outflank them and bring them down with the tow cables.
there, the big scary walkers are dead, now you just take down the small scary walkers with the cannons, problem solved.

Mines

Minefields
>also, make the infantry dig another fucking ditch to fall back to.
The empire seemed to have only one approach direction, and didnt seem to orbitally bombard the position thanks to Giant Boob Gun.
A 1000 foot deep minefield would have at least made the terrain unreachable for the stupid as fuck walkers, if not destroying them outright, and severely hampered infantry approach.

If they planted the mines when they set up Echo Base, they'd have been buried in snow drifts by the time of the battle, and once they knew the empire was coming it was better to evac than fight it out, so the manpower that would be used planting mines was better used loading up transports with as much kit as they can.
Also AT-ATs have long ass legs explicitly because mines, though how that helps is a mystery.

I would betray the leftist scum. Get a nice commission in the empire

>Rebels
>leftist
You're thinking of nu-Star Wars zoomer

I thought of the snow drifts, but if goddamn laserguns are possible, I thought that landmine technology had advanced with them.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but didnt the rebels find out about hoth attack before it happened?
I remember something around the Extended universe that the mechs were deployed days before battle, and they had massive casualty rates from the snow terrain alone, and didnt participate in the attack.

Buried nuke equivalents. Oh they have to land and come through this choke pointed area to take down the shields? Enjoy minefields.

Bayonet charge

Use ATGM's to take out the cockpits, and watch them fall. Also use fucking tanks because walkers are shit.

>everyone saying minefields
LMAO you're going to need a very big bomb to blow the walkers feet off. Best bet is still snow speeders or troops jumping from a shuttle, jumping ontop with jet packs.

>Not being a snow trooper
Disgust

Going by the current and old canon the Battle of Hoth lasted a couple hours, with new current canon adding a couple of skirmishes prior to the main force reaching Echo Base with part of the Imperial forces being lost to terrain prior to contact. The old EU had Hoth be some massive, sprawling battle with large clashes between Imperial and Rebel forces happening all over the place.

Why would I be defending something I'm attacking?
>they've only got two blasters per AT-AT
They had around four front facing guns on their heads
>no infantry to defend them
AT-ATs are just troop transports that also happen to be tanks and the Imperials also employed AT-STs along with regular stormtroopers
>and no air support
There was a massive air battle during the Hoth battle.

shoot the AT-AT's forehead with slav HE-FS and watch the fireworks

>Not attacking echo base
Rebel scum.

Hoth could never be defended. The most effective defense would be a better evacuation plan.

If the rebels knew what they were up against, they should have dug tunnels underneath that field. ATATs have to be fucking heavy as shit. Imagine having one step on an unsupported patch of land. Ground caves away and the thing loses balance. Fill those with IEDs and anyone trying to recover personell and equipment is going to have a bad time.

Cables were the most effective way, but shooting the cable was a problem. This is solved by attaching a cable to two speeders.
Cables could also be buried in the snow to attack unaware walkers.

This. Rebel doctrine is literally built around escaping fights. Their main goal when getting starships is making sure they can all go hyperspace individually. The snowspeeders should have been rigged to blow along with the rest of the base, and only their independently FTL capable fighters should have been any significant distance from a transport ship or hangar containing a transport ship.

I would advise my star destroyers to commence an orbital bombardment on the undefended cluster of transport spacecraft at the rear of the base

Tactical Nuclear Weapons

>use tanks
This was actually brought up in EU, with the famed Hell's Hammers regiment's commander claiming his repulsortanks could've cleared Echo Base with no issues and totally destroyed the Rebellion.

Given that in their single defeat they inflicted four times the casualties they themselves suffered on Rebel forces, I believe him since the AT-AT is a glorified fearmonger APC even though I love it to death.

The rebels had enough time to detect the arrival of Death Squadron, activate the planetary shield, and begin evacuation preparations. This is from the film itself, Admiral Ozzel dropped Death Squadron too far from the planet while Vader and Veers wanted the fleet to emerge closer to the planet, within coverage of the shield. Ozzel's fuckup is what gave the Rebels the opportunity to prepare.
these
There was no winning Hoth, the entire engagement was based around buying the transports time to escape.

It was a race against time user, tanks wont do shit if the empire controlled the sky/space and that was an inevitability. The only way the rebels could operate effectively is by being hidden.

Snow Ewoks.

Hell's Hammers was an IMPERIAL unit.

He was saying that if his repulsortanks went in they'd have steamrolled the rebels before they had a chance to retreat.

I may have misinterpreted the post but eh.

Use those guys to dig giant pit traps on the main path to base, just promise to allow them to eat any captured imperials

Attached: image_c3ce73b0.jpg (960x540, 77K)

Their cruisers couldn't maneuver into position, that was the whole point of the giant boob ion cannon.

Attached: 1443460928196.jpg (1600x1200, 333K)

Couldn't move into position to intercept transports not bombard the base. There are multiple positions the SD could have fired from and If spread out the bomb would have hit one max before the landing pads were obliterated.

stop watching bimbo porn

Oh gotcha I've never read the cucked universe but assualting with armor is always good.

Well the objective was to prevent the Rebels from escaping. Any scenario that forced the Rebels to stay on the base only favored the Imperials and their practically unlimited resources. The Rebels had to keep the path to the hyperspace lane open with the cannon to allow the transports to jump out of the system.

The shield and the fire from the anti-orbital cannon provided sufficient cover for the base and it's transports that forced the Imperials to attempt a ground invasion before they lost their targets.

You'd be fucked if we're talking from a lore perspective

Right and a single star destroyer could have been placed elsewhere to obliterate the transports yet to take off. If you are going to encircle them your strikes should deny them the ability to flee in numbers. I know Vader wanted to catch them all but intel should have shown that they would attempt to clear a path for their transports.

As opposed to not doing it and letting enemy armor buttfuck the shield generator? yes

Use astromech droids in unmanned, stripped down x-wings to kamikaze each walker at light speed. That wouldn't have been possible in the old universe but now thanks to that sjw shit rag episode 8 its now canonically possible and makes every single battle before it kind of pointless

Plant bombs near the shield, so when the at-at’s get wishing range of the generator, the bombs are set of. At-at’s can only fight in front of them, so I would set up another trench line perpendicular to the at-at’s path.

You underestimate how badly it fucked every battle. The entire concept of combat is fucked. The X-Wing has no fucking reason to exist if you can hotglue the hyperdrive directly to an astromech and just fling them as superluminal KEPs.

That depends on whether you can hide the mines or not. One of the biggest advantages of the AT-AT's long-legged walker design is that it can simply step over your suspected mines to avoid them completely. Alternatively you'd have to have an immense mine density to provide no path for the AT-AT to weave through.

I always wanted a retcon where we would follow some Empire grunts Band of Brother style, and did not show them as complete military joke and soulless robots.

Kamikaze x-wing fighters into the walkers, at very high speeds. This would easily at a minimum, knock them over.

There was no winning Hoth, but i would have had a suicide squad confirm high level imperial landing commanders with HVT number 1 being vader. Once its confirmed he is planetside in the rebel base detonate a fucking Thermonuclear warhead or drive a large ftl capable ship in the base if you can get a planet cracker and make sure that fucker is dead. That is how you "win" Hoth.

Yet shows some dude just running up to one and taking it out without anyone even trying to stop him.

Yeah, battlefront 2 2005 was the closest to that we got. youtube.com/watch?v=iWOq1Tg-Jdw

This. From what can be seen from the movie all they would have needed to do was not charge the walkers from the front with the speeders, if they just flanked them from the side or behind they could have tied them up easy instead of repeatedly charging them head on for their attack runs and everyone but Based Wedge getting shot down. But of course all the walkers themselves would have to do to counter the towcable technique would be to stop walking youtube.com/watch?v=D0hosYbtLFg

I'd rock down those At At walkers. Look at them, they're already on all fours.

Silly auto correct. Rock is suppose to be Dick. I'm gonna Dick down all those At Ats.

Man CGI has come a long way over the years, but filming studio models will always be superior, most of the time.

I’d hit them at light speed with a ship

They had a big shield generator that prevented that, user.

They could not bombard the base from orbit, deploy TIE's or use any other off-ground assets because of force field generator.
Only when AT-AT destroyed it, the base could be bombarded.
The boob-gun was used only to make sure that the transports can slip past the blockade Star Destroyers.

>not having the X-wings do a bombing run on the AT-AT walkers before leaving with the transport ships
Had the Rebels run out of proton torpedoes, or what?

he said defend, but even then they had a shield generator preventing that hence the walkers.

I too always wanted a rated R star wars movie from the perspective of grunts on the ground, rebel or empire I don't care. Now that Disney owns it that will never happen and the closest you will ever get is the Hoth scene, the opening firefight in New hope, and bits and pieces of rouge one. I did kinda like the scenes in Solo which depicted regular empire mass conscripted soldiers. Not every soldier in the empire was a stormtrooper and in fact they were pretty rare.

Proton Torpedoes? Grab a few X/Y wings and bomb them. Alternatively use speeders to attrit them with cables before they got close enough to the shield generator, drawing them into hidden infantry that could rappel up and use charges on the undercarriage, much like dug in infantry in WWII. See '93 Stalingrad.

Either way Echo Base was situated in a shit area to defend (wide open plain) and rebs massively lacking in long range AT. ts defence was being hidden and covert.

Wasn't Rogue One billed as more grittier, boots on the ground, average Joe take on SW?

I guess the best experiences lie with both Clone Wars cartoons.

Well if you look at the rebel alliance in R1 and compare them to the sjw "resistance" in TLJ they are significantly grittier. They actually look like an insurrectionist militia whereas the resistance looks more like a bunch of Berkeley students at a Bernie Sanders campaign rally.

god damn you i never saw it that way. now its forevermore ruined

It was impossible to defend Hoth because their only target was the giant boob gun and the shield generator and once both were destroyed the was gone from space lasers.

>ONIONS WARS

The Mother of all moats.

There was a bit of that in the Darkhorse EMPIRE comics.

Additionally, I highly suggest you read Timothy Zahn's non-Thrawn works. Allegiance is a great book about a Stormtrooper defecting right after Endor.

There was something in the EU about one of the walkers breaking through the ice into a cave below on one of the paths through the hills from the drop point.

Surrender , use the jedi boy and the "princess" as leverage for good terms for all rebel officers, the men are expendable.

Don't remember seeing any femoids or anything but whites in the Empire my boomer friend.

Attached: just like the simulations.jpg (1280x720, 69K)

why didn't they use y wings and drop bombs on the atat from a high altitude that things head only goes up so high

>some dude
a jedi

A better question is why wasn't an interdictor or two present for this assault? I hope some people got force choked for that fuckup.
