Any markings that show a date? Left side of the receiver for potential model number. Caliber?

Mauser's were exported all over the world and used by almost everybody. Need a bunch more details then what you have given.

Somehow thought i posted this already

You should call him Franz. Franz Mauser.

Is there a 3 letter code on the receiver?

Persian contract, sold to Egypt after the 6 day war. Hard to find info on, receivers were scrubbed of original arsenal marks.

Second this. It appears to be a scrubbed m98/29.

I would agree except it doesnt seem to have the indent in the wood by the reciever the persian ones have, also the sight is not in arabic

Its from the Weimar Republica era

You are right that stock does look wrong. Arsenal repair maybe? It is missing a handguard/proper handguard. You can see a difference in the receiver wear in this photo Hey OP, can I get a picture of the front sight in focus?

Yep. That's a mauser

yep, that's a Mauser

Could be a chopped up polish wz. 29

>front sight with ears
>300m rear sight with single button on elevator
>98 action
>receiver ring has integral handguard retention lip

Polish Wz.29 short rifle that has been scrubbed of markings, probably for Spanish Republican use. Stock however is from a Turkish M38.

that is def not a turkish stock

>stock chopped
damn

its missing the bayonet lug and the front band, doesnt really look chopped to me

Yes it is. Polish stock would have the lower band held on with a cross-bolt through the stock and barrel band itself. Would also have the sling swivel further toward the buttplate, a different disassembly bushing, grasping grooves in the stock forearm, and a scallop above the triggerguard for the bolt handle's ball.

Judging by the front sight and the furniture I'm going to guess it's a Belgian 1935 model.

Belgian M35 doesn't have a milled lip at the front of the receiver ring to hold the rear of the handguard. Rear sight also has the single left-side button on the slider and a leaf graduated 300-2000m, just like the Kar.98a. The Poles copied the Kar.98a and kept the same rear sight with the Wz.29.
