Since this is clearly a thread being leveraged to help you pick out a gun, I will simply say this:

Do you have a reliable handgun to use in emergencies?
If yes: Simply buy an impractical gun you’ve been ogling because it doesn’t matter.
If no: buy something reliable. A Colt M1911 is one of the most reliable handguns on the market and it’s literally all you need to protect yourself in an emergency. Or if you prefer a rifle, the Ruger 10/22 is nice too. I don’t personally own one but I know many people who do and they love it. It’s not meant to fight a battle but in an emergency it would be fine and it’s a fun rifle. I think it has the most customization available to any non AR format rifle.
