Does anyone make a decent quality waisted gladius with a modern handle for around 100 or so dollars?

You should unironically go for a machete instead. Cheaper, easier to find, combat-proven.

any machete recommendations?

Harbor freight.

I already have some machete's, I'm a farmer. I'm looking for a gladius which is good for both stabbing and slashing.

You can't thrust a machete, you've got it swing it around.

this.

Also implying gladius isn't battle proven, pick up a history book user.

Get the coldsteel gladiolus. It's like 40 bucks, will probably be dull when you get it, it surprising takes abuse.

Not waisted, but I wonder if these are any good.

I actually have the coldsteel version of that already. that's cool, but it's not really a sword, It's made from sheet metal. A real sword would cut through that if you clanged them together.

A real sword is made from a chunk, or multiple chunks of metal, rolled and folded and forged.

hm.... thank you for your knowledge and input

Yes, the Cold Steel "Dindu Demolisher" Gladius Machete.

>updated for modern warfare
>a sword

top fucking kek

Not OP, but I guess one of these is going onto my SHTF chest rig soontm.

decent quality
modern handle
around $100

Pick one.

you can have something for $100. it might have a modern handle, but it wont be decent quality.

you can pick a modern handle, but it might not be $100, and it wont be decent quality.

or you can pick decent quality, but it wont be $100, and it probably wont have a modern handle.

again that's not a sword, it's sheet metal.

modern handles are actually cheaper than the historically accurate ones.

Your post is pointless, you don't provide any link or examples of any of the swords you're referring to.

he did answered OPs question and the answer to the question is "no"

Attached: 1462163028352.jpg (1144x1024, 367K)

Yet provided no examples to back up his answer. Also he was incorrect in saying that modern handles cost more, they don't. Carved wooden handles are much more expensive.

cringy zombie bullshit aside, hows this?

>zombiegoboom.com/store/p215/ZGB_Wasteland_Survival_Gladius__.html
Blade looks like it's too wide, might have really shit balancing.

Kinda would get rid of the entire point of a gladius too, an agile short sword.

user, one the worlds best sword manufacturers, Albion, makes their blades out of CNC cut sheet-metal.

>zombiegoboom.com/store/p215/ZGB_Wasteland_Survival_Gladius__.html

Plus it's another sheet metal job. Not a proper forged blade.

>Albion

They use sheet as raw material, but they roll and forge the blades.

When i saw sheet metal blade you can easily see that it's just a flat piece of sheet that's cut and sharpened.

Just looking at albion swords you can see they have shape, thickness, dimensions, blood drains, etc....

Bump

If you come to my shop and shovel coke and feed the forge as I work, I will unironically forge one out of 5160 spring steel.

...No, it fucking wouldn't.

>shovel coke
cocaine is your fuel?

Yeah but then how can I play Spartacus in my backyard

shame shields like that are so spendy
I was hoping to find a cold steel scutum of some sort

Holy fuck, this store has some awesome stuff, and it's priced super low. D2 is a bitch to sharpen, but it's hard to fuck up the heat treat on, so I'm not sure how it could be not good.

I have the Cold Steel gladius. It's very durable. My roommate and I got really drunk one time and hacked a dead limb off a tree with it. It didn't warp or anything.

I have the Cold Steel one, The steel is pretty good and it cuts well. It even has a decent sheath. The problem is that the grip is too long. I have large hands and it's still too long. The original gladius had a much shorter grip that locked the hand in between the pommel and guard, making it more solid in the hand and less fatiguing. It looks like the United Cutlery model is even worse in this respect.

"Perfect for recreational idiocy." 5/5

That was my concern as well, but I must say it's hard to beat for the price. Have you found anything more fitting?

>combat-proven
Where and when? In Africa?

Not OP, but what's your shop called and do you have any examples of your work you can show?

That's cringy zombie bullshit
