Hmm. Maybe I'll look into buying a 10mm handgun for bears. The walk from my garage to my house is about 30 yards or so (I have a bigger garage). One night I had a big fucking bear just staring at me from off to the side, less than 20 feet away. The fucker was right up on me before I even knew it. Keeping something like a Glock 29 on me would probably be a lot easier than toting a .50 Beowulf AR back and forth between house and garage.
Like I said last thread I was drinking a bit when I was looking at the rifle.

I want to get recce 18 for my first ar, but i wasn't sure which scope or sights would be adequate.
I live in hilly foresty area, so there wouldn't be much sense in getting anything high powered, which i would not really be used to anyway. People have suggested getting eotech with vortex magnifier, but i was curious to know about your experience and perhaps if you can give me some advice. Knockoffs & Chinese bipods are trash tier, I decided to find that out first hand. Harris with a QD is still a reliable bipod, but it's outdated. KAC is more expensive. Elite Iron is Scaranon grade enthusiast tier expensive but cool. Magpul came out with a new one, might try that and let us know how it is.

This, actually. Generally I prefer USGI center Industries/colt/okay over pmags, but both the Okay Surefeed E2s and regular mags are badass. The regular ones even have magpul followers. They fit well and lock in nice in all of my lowers. I'll be buying more of these to stack for the happening.
In my opinion ar mag quality tier is:

Has anyone here heard of DEZ Arms? They are about 30 minutes from me and the owner says that they make their own receivers, handguards, and barrels. Talking to the owner in their shop he definitely has a high opinion of their stuff but I can't find shit about them otherwise.

They attempt to fix an issue inherent to AR mags (flimsy thin ass magazines that are prone to bend/tweak out and cause malfunctions) by adding material to the outside of the mag. Lock up on these mags varies greatly in different lowers, they are definitely on the "tight " side, so your povertyshit psa/anderson might be ok with them, but your BCM/Colt/DD etc may or may not like them. You shouldn't have to beat on the bottom of the mag to seat, even on a closed bolt, especially with 28 cartridges in it
