In the event of a ban on certain types of firearms, then prices of ALL firearms will increase drastically. Buy what you want now, and stockpile whatever you can. Guns and ammo are relatively cheap at the moment, but prices will skyrocket during the bans (or ban attempts) and forthcoming panic buying sprees. I'm not going to specify what country, city or year this happened but... I witnessed some rather unethical behavior on repeat occasions on the part of the federal secret police and their local law enforcement toadies in my community. I made the mistake of telling my mother (a very simple and naïve person and also a former government informant) about it. She had the mental health authorities accompanied by police enter my home, arrest me and escort me to a locked psych ward. I couldn't lock my apartment door on my way out because I was in handcuffs. So I called the police from the psych ward and explained the situation (REALLY, REALLY BAD MOVE) and told them they were responsible for protecting the contents of my apartment. Meanwhile, my landlord (a close relative of a cop) burglarized my apartment and ransacked my belongings. He among other things located my life savings in the form of about $10,000 worth of guns and antique swords, plus an old applesauce jar full of plaster of paris (a white powder) in a box with some art supplies which he assumed must be cocaine. When the cops arrived, he tipped them off about the haul he found in my apartment. They went to a judge and got a search and seizure order issued and looted it all. They then let my landlord and his family come in and loot whatever they wanted afterwards. Finally, after being held for 8 days on my mother's orders I was released from the hospital. The doctors said there was nothing wrong with me. One of the nurses even said that it's my mother who should be in a psych ward. I called the cops to get my things back but they said I needed a letter from a psychiatrist for the guns. By this point though I had had my fill of quak profession that is psychiatry and the cops were harassing me so bad for several years afterwards that I didn't want to deal with them to get the swords back.
And that is how I lost my life savings to confiscation.
