Worst Air Force Jobs

is there a role worse then being an AWACS pilot?

Attached: shit.png (1351x635, 452K)

RNLAF currently has a job offer for flight attendant.

Don't get much worse than that.

>"Excuse me, Private Stewardess, I want another rum and coke."
I can imagine this being pretty bad

whats the difference between a civilian flight attendant and a military one?

>Relatively easy job
>Extra pay
>Travel
>No later life stress/injuries
>All the free quals and courses you can get in the military

People don't end up places like that by accident

E6 Mercury pilot for the Navy

>implying any kind job where you actually get to fly is a "worst" Air Force job

I'm pretty sure the absolute worst job in the Air Force is, like the other branches, being a cook. Aside from that, I imagine both security forces and maintenance suck hard.

I heard that the Combat Arms part of Security Forces is cool if you're into guns

USAF flight attendants look so happy

Maybe if you like guarding gates for 12 hours a day as your entire deployment.

I've also seen security forces write someone a ticket for jogging with headphones in at BAF. So basically you get to shitpost irl lol

The worst job in the AF? I vote fuels, or the guys who suck out the toilets on heavies.

.....What merit is there behind joining an air force to be anything but a pilot?

Its like going on a porn set just to be a fluffer.

>that cuckold who liked planes but can't fly them

Fixing another man's plane is like washing/freshening a woman just to let another man fuck her. Truly a cuckold's life.

Why join the Army if you can't be a tier 1 opr8or? Why join the Navy if you can't be the captain?

Yeah, I'm crying all the way to the bank as an A&P

In all honesty, why? What's the merit in being second best (or worse)? Go for something worth pursuing, everyone else can do the bogus work.

Aircraft maintenance can be a pretty lucrative field in the civilian world, especially considering that you don't need a college education. You can easily make six figures working for a major airline, and many senior guys make 200k or more. It's also one of the most aged trade worforces so there is a lot of demand for new bodies as the old guys retire. The average age of an A+P mechaninc is close to 50.

Can confirm that. I'm the youngest guy at my job by 20 years and I'm 25

Loader on a gunship.

Stop hooning it over my house faggot and spit on the guy who drives the Lancer too.

Looks pretty bad.

Special missions aviation looks cool - On paper.

My brother was CATM for 20 years. He loved it.

Indian MiG-21 pilot
Guaranteed spine compressions or a fiery death

Not everyone wants to be a pilot, but they want to work around aircraft.

I'm too tall to fly in the military, on top of having bad eyes, but I love the aircraft and I like working on them. Aviation Maintenance is a great field to be in and pays very well.

Effectively none. You wear a uniform. That’s it.

t. Flown many times on Navy liaison aircraft

Jesus, this. Aside from the fantasy of being part of a nuclear exchange, being TACAMO must be boring as shit.

Apart from politicians and high ranking officers and passengers that fuck you around are in a world of hurt once you land.

But you leave with a shitload of flight hours so you can easily get a job with the airlines.

And on the civilian side, the most lucrative jobs are more interesting than flying.

Keeping a $100+ million dollar airliner airworthy is more fun and engaging than flying it. Flying for a major airline earns enormous dollars, but most pilots want out well before mandatory retirement. You have 747 captains giving up $250K a year to fly propeller planes in Alaska for $50K a year, just because life cruising on autopilot has become just that.

That’s true, but so did every guy who got out the same FY you did with twin-turbine experience.

It’s a great step in life, don’t get me wrong. It’s just not fulfilling. There’s a reason the retention for pilots is awful in the military outside of fighter/attack

You make the mistake of thinking those positions are the best

It’s probably not a fixed billet, and he and the gunner switch off every now and then.

R-right? I hope.

>fly propeller planes in Alaska for $50K a year

This doesn't sound right. Cost of living in Alaska is so high they gotta be making more than that.

Aerial gunners for the AC-130's are just loaders unfortunately. An officer sits near the front of the plane with all the gun controls

>flight attendant
>bad job

Actually pretty chill from what I've seen, and they were E-6's.

>Serves a purchased meal

Americans have to buy food on their own flights?

not true at all, 1A9X1 do shoot and load

At least in Fuels you can smell like glorious JP-8 on a semi permanent basis.

>finally be a Chairforce officer
>SORRY SIR YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO EVEN FLY HELICOPTERS
>BUT HEY SIR ITS BACK TO THE MISSILE SILO IN BUMFUCK FLYOVER NOWHERE
>HEY NEW GUY, FLIP TO PAGE 300 FOR THIS PROCEDURE
>be stuck underground for days until your replacement shows up

Depends on the flight

The AWACS pilots I know seem to enjoy it. The mission is pretty easy, there's a nav to do all the mission planning, and the community is laid back. There is also potential to be stationed out of Alaska or Germany, unlike the JSTARS where the only assignment is Macon, GA. Sure the flights are boring, but no more so than any other heavy that spends 95% of their time cruising (C-5, KC-135, KC-10, etc).

The job that really sucks is being one of the penguins in the back. Hours of staring at a piece of shit terminal from the 70s trying to control later gen aircraft that have way better sensors than you do. Then after you get back to base, you get to spend an hour being shaken around trying not to puke as the pilots work on their touch and go's. Every one that I know is a burned out alcoholic counting down the days left in their contract.

Seems kinda comfy being on an AWACS.

>Sit a hundred miles behind the front lines
>Have a comfy chair and a neat radar screen
>Bitch at officers that there's shit to shoot down
>sip your hot coco and wonder when the cookies that are being baked in the galley will be done.

>Every one that I know is a burned out alcoholic counting down the days left in their contract.
You haven't met any 1A3s worth a shit then, because all the good ones move to bigger and better platforms/things

I only know 13Bs so I have a pretty limited picture of what goes on back there. They probably have a lower tolerance for the career field after they spent 4 years getting a commission and got sold on a job that sounded way cooler than it turned out to be.

>Be Indian
>Or be the pilot of some Soviet/Russian flying shit
I dunno which one is the worse... apart from being both at the same time

I was an AT, can easily make 100+k in a year, no A&P. The only problem is my job is always riding on governmet contracts. Luckily I was able to get on with a program that's pretty much just starting out, so I should be good to go for a while.

It's pretty fucking nice, not gonna lie

one of those flew over our place in the late 80's and everyone's garage door opened at the same time!

>is there a role worse then being an AWACS pilot?

>t. non pilot confirmed.

Flying is flying. The worst jobs in the Air Force are the ones not involving flying or coordinating command and flight operations, .i.e, anything else removed from flight ops altogether.

force multiplier so priority target in any shooting war with a well equipped opponent
Russian missiles specifically designed to kill AWACS, very likely the Chinese will have a similar system

MC-12 is dead bro. No escape.

Stupid video game player faggot #1
>Bonuses
>Flight pay (free money)
>Mandatory crew rest/time off
>Nice relaxed deployments (more free money for hostile fire pay ie. flying 50,000 feet above sand niggers with AKMs)

Relaxed as fuck

>Pilot
>worse job
Dumb video game player faggot #2. The Navy has over 100 jobs worse than anything pilot

This is true, although Security Forces has Combat Arms, which is just playing with guns and teaching people how to shoot 24/7. They seem to love life. Pretty solid escape for Air Force MPs.

Accurate

Stupid Video Game player Faggot #3
>Bonuses (60K for Airmen after taxes)

I’m so glad I’m finally out.
