Whats the shortest barrel I should go with for a .300 BLK sbr?

So I bought an AR, put about half a mag through and now it won't shoot anymore. I examined the chamber, can't see any soot or gunk in it (that's what the guys at the range suggested). It does look like the slide isn't getting all the way home, I tried the forward assist, I've tried racking the charging handle, nothing seems to be getting it to go home. Any ideas?

I'm torn between the Kahles and the Leupold Mk6 1-6x. How's your scope treated you?

TLs are 'OK' if they are not too large, tall. If they are huge they will FU your optic in a moment of panic or dynamic shit, like when your rifle hits the edge of a door jamb....

Post mags.

I regret not getting an upper. Those were such a good deal. Oh well maybe Ill get an lmt on a different sale.

Rip bump stocks.

Attached: 1548311094605.png (1018x464, 302K)

The problem I have with the Kahles is that it isn't 5.56 specific like the Leupold's reticle is. Learning holdovers is important sure, but it's nice to have a cheat sheet right in the optic.

That’s quality shitty ammo

Tippy top of the morning to ya lads.

Attached: 1553345053833.png (193x200, 37K)

I've never been a fan of any sort of ballistic reticles/subtensions. Very rarely accurate for me, especially at distances you're really focusing on dope/holds. Too much variance in ammo and velocities out there. Makes sense on a combat optic like the ACOG where you're more concerned about being minute of man as quickly as possible. My worthless .02 anyway.

Attached: 654g6ewr4g6erg4e.jpg (1884x1154, 670K)

At least we still have our Fostech Echos & Franklin Binary Triggers. Lets see how long those last before they're banned.

Attached: 1549087034134.jpg (750x713, 147K)

They better not fuck with binary triggers.
I'm in MO so I'm really hoping that something happens with SB 367. I'll die happy, if it goes through.

I'm thinking of picking up a Fostech Echo, just to hold onto. As gimmicky and impractical as they are, I think there still a good investment to have seeing that pull-release triggers will certainly be banned at some point.

Are red dots bad if I have astigmatism?
Any recommendations? I need two optics.

Not a bad idea. They are a blast to shoot every now and then.

Where do y’all place your VFG? Mine is a bit further forward. Idk why I did this.

It’s stuck now anyways because the hex screw is stripped and I can’t unstrip it.

I’ll have to cut the vfg to turn the mlok thingy

>36 yard zero
I'm unique and a extra special boy.

I'm lost. What kind of torque wrench do I need for the castle nut and ar-15 tool?

Attached: 20190326_085404.jpg (4032x1960, 2.92M)

You don't need a torque wrench for the castle nut. Just use an armorer's wrench and crank it tight.

Attached: 1.jpg (400x400, 10K)

You need a drive head side that's the same as the cutout in your AR armorer's tool. 1/2" drive should be good. If your armorer's wrench has a different-sized hole, you can always get an adapter.

What you have pictured though are all ratchets that offer no torque settings. A Kobalt torque wrench would be your typical clicky ratchet with a twisting handle to adjust torque. Basically you set the torque you need based on the markings on the handle, lock it to that torque value, then tighten your fastener slowly--so you don't blast beyond the required torque value--until the wrench clicks.

Torque wrench is gonna set you back some coin, but it's an extremely useful tool that any DIY'er should have.

Forward is good
You can use bits to back out stripped heads

How is it even justifiable for any of you sick incels fucks to own a weapon of murder??

Why doesn’t anyone paint their rifle in a M81 color palette?

I'm operating on a limited budget, is it something I can do without?

How likely is it that my local gun store will have all the specialty tools (like an armorer's wrench, an AR vise block, etc) necessary to build an AR.

Im to scared to paint my rifle or I would most likely do something like M81.

Cabelas has them, so I'd say the likelihood of you finding the tools at a gun store are pretty good.

If they do itll be over priced. Buy from ebay.

Do I really need a vise block? Can't I just struggle to install the magazine catch and then use an actual magazine as a block?

I would say no, other will disagree, but the last thing you want is to have your barrel nut loosen up. Go to autozone or harbor freight and get a cheapie if your really that hard up for cash (you can also get a used one off ebay too, I got a bigass matco torque wrench for a pretty good deal)

>and then use an actual magazine as a block?
Are you just building a lower? If so then yes but youll damage said mag most likely. I only used the block for the castle nut. The rest I installed just holding the lower. Which IMO seemed to be the easiest way to build a lower.

My $20 harbor freight torque wrench works real nice. It also has a lifetime warranty.

You will need something to hold the upper reciever when you torque down the barrel. I personally use a knockoff of the Geissele reaction rod that brownells sells, but I've also used the plastic clamshell type of vice bkock with no problem.

The reaction rod (or spline rod or whatever the fuck you call it) is really nice.

Yup, I'm ordering

palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-m4-carbine-length-5-56-nato-1-7-nitride-rifle-kit.html

So as far as I know, once the lower is built, I'll be able to just snap on the upper. Am I correct in thinking this? The only thing that I'll be changing on the upper is the handguards for now.

>Am I correct in thinking this?
Yes PSA uppers are already built

I mean its good for thumb over bore and all that (basically using the VFG as a handstop), but its tiring as hell.

Attached: kek.jpg (1199x814, 284K)

Technically yes because the spec for barrel nut torque is kind of wide. As long as you keep it under 80 ftlbs you are fine, you could but you might look into "beam" style torque wrench that just has a bar that points to the level of torque. Not as sophisticated but can probably be had for $20ish.

send that cocksucker to russia, it will be taken care of.

>he still does a 50 yard zero
I bet you only have m193 for ammo too

I’ve only ever fired a Colt ar-9 but liked it. I am otherwise clueless with ARs but want to buy one. Should I buy one of the used M&P 15X trade-ins from sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore for like $550? How much do you have to spend to get a ‘decent’ rifle that you’d hang on to for a long time?

Giddy did m81 colors. Doing actual m81 pattern would look p fruity.

Attached: 65sd4g6w8r4g5w68rg4ew6rg84eg.jpg (1478x1554, 885K)

If your in america, you can rent half inch torque wrenches from an autoparts store, most let you do it for "free", you put down the money that they say the tool is worth, when you bring it back they refund you your money back

Was thinking about copping the Colt M4. Any thoughts or other options I should take a look at for a quality first buy?

Does anyone know what model surefire this is? I """found""" it at my last unit.

Attached: 20190326_111723.jpg (4032x1960, 1.7M)

>I """found""" it at my last unit.
Why even bring this up?

Why not?

I have one, eats steelcase and brass reliably, no complaints but its a bit pricey

That’s what I’m talking about. The “OD green” camo paint floating around out there is more like “crushed 57 stone green”. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an actual green/brown/black/tan paint job and it would be aesthetic as fuck.

bent gas tube, loose gas key?

I use a 36 yard zero because I live in open terrain

Brownell's Coyote is the new FDE

Depends on price but you could do far, far worse

Giddy's looked pretty good I thought

It happened after a failure to eject I think, I had to pull extremely hard on the charging handle to eject it (actually the guy in the stall next to me got it to go, I was worried about pulling that hard to be honest). Upon chambering the next round all I hear is a soft ping when I pull the trigger

Take upper off lower half. Hold at about 30 degree angle to the floor, barrel down. With your free hand, unlatch the charging handle and pull the bolt carrier group back so the chamber is open. While holding the BCG as far back as it will go against the charging handle, slide the CH forward and closed, so you're now holding the BCG back against gravity with the CH latched in place. Now release the BCG and the correct behavior is it should drop forward and close the chamber completely under its own weight. What result do you get?

w-what's an upper

What's a good starter optic for around $300?

I'm used to M68 CCOs and Acogs from my time in the military, so I'd like something similar to either one of those.

Used aimpoint pro

Burris AR-332 is a decent budget prism scope for less than $200
