RAND did a study on this, they found that (as of like 2016 but it hasn't changed much) Russia, with the assets it has in place and could easily move to that region, could attain complete ground superiority against the forces in the Baltics with little to no notice. Vastly more capable air assets would be flown in by NATO, and those would the linchpin of the entire NATO response, but in terms of ground troops there simply aren't enough heavy armor units in that area to stop whatever Russia can throw at them. They would drive straight into Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. By the time the first non-paratrooper units arrived in Eastern Europe Russia would be executing non-Russian-sympathizer politicians for treason and holding "referendums" on becoming part of Russia.
Russia wouldn't be able to gain complete air superiority, nor would it be able to put up a decent barrier against counterattacks, but the idea is that it can use it's own SAM network and it's nuclear arsenal to pressure NATO into just giving up those countries. Obviously this would be prefaced by several years of subversion/spying/assassinations before it happened so ideally the response of NATO wouldn't be the immediate autistic freakout you imagine if Russia got it's way.
It's an incredibly risky idea but that doesn't mean it's impossible or that it couldn't be made a lot more safe with a few years of preparation.

Belarus is basically a Russian satellite state, and the Baltic states can't put up a fight on their own. Estonia and Latvia will fall during a Russian invasion in a few days, and maybe the Memel area can be be saved if NATO has lightspeed reaction, assuming they can hold off the Ivans.

The problem of broad alliances is that countries still act out of naked self-interest. If they can avoid a fight, they will avoid it no matter what the article says. There has been examples in the past of other alliance where a share of members just renegaded on their obligations. Let's be honest, some nations joint military alliance because they don't want to pay for a big army.

russia has no greater friend in the world than belarus actually, it's more than likely belarus will become a russian state in the future. it's totally different in ukraine, they have an own identity and language, even though it's both very close to russian. their russian minority is agitable for russia if they want to stir trouble in ukraine like they do atm, it's nothing like belarus

There are two mistakes in your statement. Russians are competent and Baltics can`t hold out on their own, their entire doctrine revolves around running into woods and waiting until cavalry arrives.
