AK owners all have small pps

Making a second more permanent version of my binary trigger to mail to the ATF for a legal letter

You forgot to remove two arrows
Wut? Qrd pls

Attached: 1428165220087.jpg (636x1024, 90K)

I posted it in the last thread and brainlets tried to flame me for it being “illegal” so I’m making a better version to send to the Firearms and Ammunition Tech Branch of the ATF for an approval letter so I don’t get v&

This dude fucks hard
Donetsk is the most aesthetic conflict in a long while

Reminder that zenitchads will always be the envy of poors
All zenitchads feel free to post your rails

Attached: A0188AEB-4172-4822-88B1-4E480DDF31B9.jpg (724x724, 124K)

why come it not have a real magazine?

I'm even more lost than ever
Define more permanent? I posted a couple threads ago about a guy who legally patented a removable "binary trigger" (basically the pop can trick but, you know, not a pop can)

It’s like the pop can trick but instead of the brass bracket I used, I’m gonna weld a 1/32 inch piece of metal where the bracket would be

The only gun I'd put Zenit on is a Vityaz tbhfamalam
I just think it fits smol bois better

Attached: 20190325_094315-min.jpg (3024x4032, 2.49M)

You could more than likely get away with having something removable and not permanently affixed. Like just look what this nigger built and the ATF said "sure lol", in goddamn 1997 of all times
youtu.be/eA6QPJyUvGc
I was gonna spout how the worst ATF is gonna say is no, but didnt ATF change their policy last year and started requiring your entire firearm to be sent in for them "to determine if it is legal"?

No I emailed them about it already and they said I’d have to send in a physical sample but they didn’t specify firearms and they implied it was optional. And I might just say fuck it and submit what I have already

Attached: Zenit1.jpg (940x707, 110K)

Submit what you have already, iirc they'll tell you vaguely why it's not legal and will destroy it if so. Then you can make adjustments and gamble again

Alright bet. I’m gonna do it to second trigger group though

Oooh they mad. Too bad wuggy gives us a bad name by association.

>How do you know online tho??
Every listing I've seen will say "US Draco" somewhere in the listing.
Romy Dracos have the model number "HG1916N"
Another dead giveaway is American """Dracos""" will have stuff like a BHO notched safety and non bakelites grip.
Real Dracos also have a 12" barrel while Century abortions have a 10.5" barrel.

Attached: 20190323_152816.jpg (4032x1960, 2.22M)

Is M92 better than the Draco if you wanted a small AK carbine?

Attached: M92.jpg (3774x1518, 490K)

No. It's pretty much a wash but Dracos have a better barrel (chrome-lined and long enough to get full powder-burn) while M92s are slightly beefier.
Dracos use AKM furniture and have AKM sights while M92s use Yugo specific furniture and have a Krink-style sight.
M92s also require more fiddling if you want to use a muzzle device as they come with a nut welded on and no detent, and use 26x1.5LH threaded muzzle devices so your options are very limited, while Dracos just require you to grind off the nut and can use any 14x1LH device.

tl;dr Dracos are more plug+play, have longer barrel life, and have better ballistics+accuracy. But if you want a Krink in 7.62x39 then an M92 is a better option.

Forgot to mention in terms of optics mounting solutions, M92>Draco.
Neither has a siderail, but with a Draco your options are an Attero Bravo, a Master Mount, or a gas tube rail, while M92s have IMO a really great aftermarket solution from Stormwerkz that BTFOs the Draco options.

"M92 vs Draco" conversation is more or less the same as "WASR vs NPAP":
>The Romy option is standardized and thus has a massive aftermarket, as well as a chrome-lined barrel
>The Yugo option is tighter-built and beefier but the barrel isn't chromed and most of the parts are proprietary, so harder to find and expensive.
makes a good point regarding barrel length and ballistics. 12" is basically the ideal barrel length for a 7.62x39 SBR though.

How much does 7.62 gain from 12" over 10.5"? Are there no aftermarket barrel options for the M92?

To this user
#
>I want it to be a pistol so I don't have to store it separately from the ammunition for legal vehicle transport in Pennsylvania.

In PA NFA items don’t apply, if you SBR your AK you CAN keep it in your car loaded. That ruling applies to 16” or greater rifles

It's not a HUGE difference vs something like 5.56 but it's still pretty significant:
A 12" barrel loses ~100fps compared to a 16.5" AKM barrel
A 10.5" barrel loses ~200fps compared to a 16.5" AKM barrel.

>Aftermarket barrel options
You should look into what goes into rebarreling an AK before you consider that as an option. It's a pretty big job.

Anyone ever done any woodworking on their AK?

My handguard and stock are mismatched pieces, and I want to darken my handguard to match better.

Darkening wood is a fucksight easier than lightening it, that's for sure

I have a m72b1 and I want to swap the handguard to something with a rail does anyone know if it is possible to modify an akm or rpk handguard to fit? The only aftermarket I can find are the ronin

can I get a quick run down on the M10 kits atlantic has? seems like it has the same specs as a WASR so it should be gtg right?

Thats what I was hoping to hear. Plus the wood handguards are not original (wood stock plastic handguard is a weird combination but whatever), so they dont have any real value past what I paid for them (150).

Im thinking I just sand off the shellac, stain it again, and apply new shellac.

Its an ok arsenal but really they should be $600. The grip safety is removeable. the fake muzzele device is removeable but the gas block is not threaded and I havent seen any threaded FSB in stock so youll have to make some other krink gasblock work. rear sight in fucked up position and you kinda limited on handguards cause krink+milled.

Yeah, I not mechanically familiar with AKs as it is. I'll do some reading. Is there a go-to reference book on the the platform?

We all love AKs here. We all want this to be a comfy place to shitpost and learn more about AKs. Ribbing other anons is part of the fun, but the non stop shit flinging is getting too tiresome. These threads are not fun, informing, or high quality anymore. Is /akg/ truly dead?
You be the judge
>inb4 it's been this way for years
fuck you let's change it. I believe in /akg/

>It's been this way for years
It really hasn't. MAYBE a year.

What happened was ARs got cheap and AKs got expensive. You can get a completely reliable AR for $300, while the absolute cheapest you can find a reliable AK for these days is ~$650 unless you can find a steal, and that price is going up every day.
Which means every poorfag has an AR and AKs are now expensive status-symbol guns.
It's why we're inundated with /arg/ tripfags and bullshit elitism now, primarily from people who don't even like AKs.

>You can get a completely reliable AR for $300
...what?

Oh fuck off back to your containment thread faggot.

Get both. I have the M92 and will be getting the Draco soon.

that's a good point. never really thought why /arg/-/gq/ turbo spreg larping niggers have been popping up so much. It's all so tiresome

Anyone familiar with this ammo? How is it?

Attached: Barney.png (775x455, 453K)

You ever shoot brown bear or silver bear? Same shit and its some of the better AK ammo out there.

So is it worth .25c a round? Found some at my LGS for 4.99 a box.

Barnaul has been making ammo for the Russian army since... before WW1 I think.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnaul_Cartridge_Plant

That's about what you'd pay for bulk Barnaul ammo online.
Laquered milspec Barnaul is about the best commercially, available stuff out there besides Golden Tiger

I love GT but I've gotten some boxes with multiple duds. I think this has been discussed before, maybe some more learned user can chime in. I believe the duds were generally only manufactured for a certain period of time

Attached: 20180615_190653.jpg (2576x1932, 2M)

Is there any better way to mount a LAM to an AK than zenit? Mlok with a screwed on rail like you would have to do with SLR is never going to be as solid as a single piece pic rail.

Vympel's still the sweet spot re: velocity, accuracy, terminal ballistics, price, and availability.
I've gotten maybe 5 duds total across the 12 cases of the stuff I've bought in the last 5 years. Way better ratio than I've had with Barnaul or Tula. Fuck Tula in particular, real dogshit ammo.

LAM?
>Mlok with a screwed on rail like you would have to do with SLR is never going to be as solid as a single piece pic rail.
Kind of answered your own question, didn't you?

Attached: 20181027_152834.jpg (3491x1143, 2.76M)

>LAM?
Pew pew laser for night time funs

Just wondering, I have seen people bash zenit and say the US rails are better but I haven't seen anything comparable.

Sorry, never heard anyone refer to an IR laser as a LAM. I thought you meant the LAM for the MK23.
>I have seen people bash zenit and say the US rails are better but I haven't seen anything comparable.
Those people are retards or memeing. Once something gets popular enough on Jow Forums then people start shitting on it.

I searched for a while for an acceptable handguard made in the US before getting the Zenit. I even bought a few; none are really better that are easily available. If you need it to hold zero then the B10M is the way to go.

Some days I wish it would die and we’d just have more ak centric OPs on page 1-3 like the old days.
High quality discussion on a particular topic because everyone sees the original post.
I wish generals would die, just lots of gun topics flooding the front page again.

This, generals typically go to shit after awhile and should be put down.

The general died when the AK market died. Kits have all but dried up and there's almost no imports anymore. Can't have a general when there aren't any new guns.

What’s annoying he post cat fur porn in the Groupme

everyone gets mad at my tacti-bubba'd partially converted Saiga sporter.

truth is I was sitting on the saiga and a metric shit ton of 5.45 ammo for like 1 year and when I decided I wanted a "fighting rifle" I could have built out an AR, but I wanted to try something that hasn't been done yet here (an AK with modern American aftermarket) and I didn't want to be a part of ARG's gayness.

I figured someone would appreciate how far AK aftermarket has come in America (AK aftermarket 8 years ago was garbage) but somehow I upset at least 1 person everytime I post

>I've already got some more aftermarket in to mount the light more low profile as well as a better stock and trigger coming in the next few days.
Will post pics this weekend.

Attached: IMG_20190323_221034.jpg (1920x1551, 2.57M)

I actually plan on partially copying yours, liked the way it looks.

>can't have a general if everyone that doesn't have Zenitco furniture on a gucci unobtanium AK gets shit on.
ftfy

/akg/ died when all of the quality regulars left. I used to be able to have good conversations that lasted multiple threads with the regular posters, now they’re either gone or post too sporadically to notice them.
>please come back Chimps and True Black user

Classic niggas have no issue
It's only bulli time when some fag with subpar US shit comes in

Me too user

Attached: 656EADE0-4DB5-435E-BAA2-6E457E573B6D.jpg (4032x3024, 2.14M)

With daddy’s guns and FFL

Now he’s crying in the groupme about newfags

I (tb) still come around and lurk

fuck you faggot go to the groupme

thanks bro. I solved the problem of the pic rails being too close to the muzzle device to mount a flashlight.

I used a IWC Thorntail SBR mount, and mounted it backwards. It pushed the light exactly the right length to keep the light away from the muzzle brake but still keeping it as far forward as possible so there's no front sight splash back.

it also has the unintended positive effect of limiting ny front sling swivel rotation to 180 degrees instead 360 swivel, so now my sling doesn't get twisted up which is awesome.

Attached: IMG_20190326_221300.jpg (1652x1920, 2.08M)

How's the rear sight work?

For the love of god please close the old FCG holes.

Since the thorntail is so low-profile the button on my light is easier to get to so I got rid of my tape switch.

When shooting right handed I can reach the button with my left thumb, when shooting left handed I can reach the button with my right index if I shift my grip.

In addition to being lighter and easier to reach my light, the lower profile mount pulls the light almost completely out of the sight-picture.

>LCS on ultimak
Bust out them gloves, my dude.

Shitty SLR rail

when I'm happy with the functionality of all the components, I may touch up some cosmetics. Aesthetics aren't a huge priority desu

i bought 500 rounds or so from a bloke off GB, clearly he realized he opened a shit case and dumped it. So many fucking duds lmao
i don't see why this general should die. we all have the same hobby and there is much to discuss, fun pics to post. i suppose the toxicity is the problem, but i don't think there's a good answer to that
LOL that's great. you went 100% on it and I love it. it has clear vision to say the least. Are you getting an AKT-EL trigger?

Attached: DSC_0078.jpg (1620x1080, 368K)

thanks for the positivity, even if it's something you'd never try I'm really eager to share everything I've learned from trying to modernize my little Saiga sporter.

I tried out a CMC AK trigger and was impressed, and I ordered the 3lb flat faced trigger pack like 2 weeks later.

I love the classic AK "long and light" trigger pull, but the CMC trigger I tried on someone else's AK felt like I was like clicking a mouse button and I loved it.

aluminum doesn't hold heat like stamped steel and the SLR rifleworks railed tube has extra vents on the bottom to allow cooling.

I've fired 180 rounds in under an hour plinking at the range and it stayed cooler than a traditional wood handguard.

dude if you're enjoying yourself exploring and shooting AKs you're in the right place. keep us posted

Attached: My Shit's Fucked Up.jpg (1000x987, 167K)

I'm really enjoying this project rifle.

I'm working on it slowly, buying parts one by one after researching them extensively and testing everything. I'm extremely pleased with it and I trust it as my bedside rifle.

After I get my CMC trigger and Rifle Dynamics buffer tube adapter, I think I'll be done with it. Only things I could really improve is getting some cosmetic work done, a better optic, and swap the Streamlight for a Surefire.

A KNS adjustable piston would be nice maybe. I wonder how big of a difference it would make in recoil.

It's funny, because the people who deliberately shit up the thread at any mention of Max under the guise as "chemo" unironically and inadvertently shooed away the vast majority of the decent posters that were left

Had the Rifle Dynamics buffer tube adapter. Its a big pain in the ass. The hex screws are fragile as hell and strip easily. Plus the adapter block itself adds some weight to the rear of the rifle. If you're going to go with a US-manufactured buffer tube solution look at Carolina Shooter's buffer tube. It fits into the tang with standard flat-head screws and is a buffer-tube/storage solution. The tube itself has a screw storage compartment area.

The adapter tube just sits right above the tang concealing it and sits flush with the receiver. A much better solution that could be copied easily, but RD be damned not to make extra sales on empty AR-15 tubes.

Attached: CSS-AK-TUBE-2T.jpg (400x300, 47K)

Dang wish I had known. I already ordered the RD so I'm gonna give it a chance first. I ordered buffer tube folding adapter as well, I don't think it would've been compatible with the CSS stock anyways.

No. Not the right length. Buy a Yugo part

Oh if you've got a folding adapter that's a different story. After the nightmare that was removing the RD adapter, I looked at the CSS solution and haven't looked back. Its nice to be able to change my stock when I want to (I have a polish side-folding stock which is nice as hell) instead of having small hex screws that are a bitch to unscrew.

Wirefolders aren't all uncomfortable once you find the sweet spot in your shoulder. If you modify the stock with the AMD65Tech cheek riser they're even nicer. Hell you can buy a stock pad too if you want a better surface for shouldering.

Attached: 89102389.jpg (3595x3456, 3.42M)

I've been trying to track down one of these stocks with intention of 3d printing a cheek rest. just for shits and giggles

Attached: 2F95E2EB-20FE-474C-A785-D6CCDB8AE8D1-1787-000002F7869E0800.jpg (1024x701, 96K)

Attached: 1420461329437.jpg (800x535, 109K)

Anyone have an experience with those like sub $100 'SVD' 'PSL' air gun optics that you can buy off like ebay and shit. I kinda just want a cheap Dragunov looking scope for my build to complete the look. As long as it fit the claw mount and has function id be happy

Barnaul is okay.

What is the difference between a pre-ban Chinese AK and a MAK-90 Sporter? What would pic related be (Chinese NEDI AKs)?

Attached: DSC05868.jpg (1024x768, 206K)

Finally got this fatboy coming in the mail from slavland. I've never had a different muzzle brake other than the 74 style one my 107fr came with so I'm interested to feel the difference. I like how bulbous it is, reminds me of vatnik hammer.

Attached: dtk2_small.jpg (500x281, 76K)

>What is the difference between a pre-ban Chinese AK and a MAK-90 Sporter?
One is preban and the other isn't. Unless the MAK has been de-banned they generally came with a thumbhole stock, no bayo lug, no threaded barrel.
>What would pic related be (Chinese NEDI AKs)?
Never heard of "NEDI" AKs but from that pic, they'd be preban as far as "features" go.

Anybody buy a receiver from Childers recently? I ordered one three weeks ago and haven't heard anything from them other than a single email confirming my purchase. Their availability on the receiver I ordered said 1-3 weeks. How long should I wait before I f r e a k o u t

Attached: photo_2019-03-07_08-59-12.jpg (1104x828, 347K)

Mine took longer than that. Just got it a few weeks ago.

How long did yours take? I want my tiny ak so bad

Dont remember exactly, at least a month though. I also made the mistake of getting an FFL one so that may be why mine took a minute

So did I. I ordered one in the past for my M72, i don't remember how long it took, but i don't remember it taking a particularly long time.

Attached: c6bb7b21-6c28-47a9-a43b-8a5342580f99.jpg (540x720, 42K)

I think we’re mostly still here, but there’s no new purchases on the horizon because the ak market is abysmal.
So not much reason to post.
My gun budget is going to nongun and non ak stuff for the first time in 10 years.
I gave up and just lurk in the off chance somebody brings up something I own so I can share opinions and pics.

Here is a gun pic for you user. Please don’t go. I don’t lurk AKG that often but it can’t get taken over by retards and wuggy
>RIP my PKA
