What is the best shotgun between the maverick 88 security, mossberg 500, and mossberg 590? What are the differences between theM?
Most likely going to get a maverick regardless because theyre cheap, and I love me some hillbilly shotguns, but I know little to nothing about the other two
For hd against dindus, any of the three will do. I've found the extra barrel weight of the 590a1 keeps it more level during shooting and racking. If your going with a pistol grip, get a winchester or Remington.
For an actual combat a semi auto shotgun or rifle would be far superior. A mossberg 930 isnt that much more than a 590. Ive had one in 3.5 inch 12 guage thats been cut to 19 inches for a year or now, and its noticeably softer shooting. Im way faster with it than with my 870.

>maverick 88 Fucking trash, literal embarrassment of a firearm. I'm surprised they're manufactured in Mexico, I would've guessed rural India. What's impressive about them though is how shitty they managed to make their polymer feel. It had to be special designed, it actually feels worse than keltec. >mossberg 500 Solid >mossberg 590 A bit more durable than the 500
Logan Carter
Is that wood supposed to be high quality? Doesn't look it.
Tyler Foster
590A1 Mariner is the only way to go

REMINGTON 870 MOTHERFUCKER

How's life in 2006?

I can't tell the difference in my 88 or 500 other than weight. Both have been 100% reliable and both have their benefits.
Brandon Hall
>remington Fuckoff with this potmetal rusting bullshit
No im not going to try and track down an old one
Cameron Jones
>590 9-shot with heat shield and polymer stock: MSRP: $559 >A wood stock and forend: like 70$ at most
>590 retrograde: MSRP: $902
Imagine being so retarded that you spend $300 so you don't have to put a stock and forend on yourself
>in prison for 6 years >get out yesterday >decide to check out Jow Forums since I haven't had access in a while >see people actually shilling for retrograde >mfw
You should be locked up for being such a goy and actually shilling out to the industry jew for 400 dollar """""""""""""""quality""""""""""""" wood lmao
The 88 is far from trash, it is the go to for best bang for your buck pump. 200 bucks for 7+1 capacity, and it isn't shit quality. I've beat the fuck out of my 88, used it to hunt and successfully killed deer with it, I use it target shooting, and fucking around, it has literally never failed me and it can accept most of the aftermarket shit that a 500/590 can. The 500/590 is higher quality materials in a few areas and has the thumb safety, but workhorse and utility wise the Maverick is solid. Before someone mentions a fucking pardner, they are 50 bucks cheaper, have lower capacity, are a lot more rough around the edges, and somehow kick more than a 12ga shotgun should. Overall I feel like dropping 200 bucks on an 88 security model that isn't the best at anything, but can do anything, isn't a bad deal.
Dominic Carter
it's not a bad deal but a 500 persuader with a folding stock is a more well rounded choice for similar money
Gavin Clark
Regardless of which one you grab, throwing a heat shield, wood stock and forend, maybe some sights and possibly a little shell rack will make any one of those Mossbergs look sexy, I mean you could also always go full tacticool with the >A E S T H E T I C if you're a bit more on the fuddy/operator side.
True, I'm not shitting on the 500 or 590 models by any means, just saying the 88 is the lower tier, but still far from trash if that is OP's option money wise.
Just picked up a Maverick 88 yesterday. Shes a beaut. Love her. Get an M240B you fucking virgin retard
Camden Martin
Get the 500 flex model, it's stupid easy to change parts. I have the flex with a slug barrel, security barrel, and the 28" smooth barrel it came with, I also have an ar stock and pistol grip I can switch with the OEM stock with only a lever. This gun can do whatever the fuck I want it to and was only $300 when I first got it
Alexander Phillips
the 590 without the retarded heat shield is the best one. But Mossbergs kind of suck anyway. Everything they offer in a pump is either basic or a pig in lipstick. They continue to thrive because Remington is dying a slow death.
I see 6 years of ass pounding has made you even gayer than the OP.
Hunter Price
M7 I’m betting an Ontario.
Oliver Hughes
You know what would be fucking amazing? If Ruger ended up buying Remington.

Is that grip swappable?

how many more retards like you are gonna waltz into shotgun threads running your mouth not knowing a plain 590 is NOT a 590A1?

1897 Winchester dudes. It has a bit of a bad reputation but it’s blown more dudes away than any other shotgun in history. Lots of neat tricks to the firearm as well

Welcome back komrade, i’m afraid we didn’t take very well care of Jow Forums in your absence.

>What is the best? subjective
>differences better if you look it up, rather than ask
>I know little to nothing about the other two go to mossberg's site, youtube
Not a pump gun but I own it and it’s hilariously awesome Ithaca mag 10 deerslayer A 10g slug is 766gr I have a mag 10 goose gun too with a 34 inch barrel and a extra full choke. I love both of them
I'd recommend the 590 personally, I've got the 20" with ghost rings and I love her. The 590 comes with a polymer safety and trigger guard, the only difference in the A1 is a thicker barrel for stupid milspec reasons and the aforementioned parts are aluminum, also for stupid milspec reasons. I didn't think the added weight was worth it, also never had any concerns of the plastic parts breaking and I throw her around like a red headed step child. If you're poverty tier just get the Maverick, they aren't as sexy but they're definitely gtg
Anthony Murphy
You are thinking of the 590A1 The 590 is pretty much the 500 with a different magazine tube.
>Ithaca mag 10 I love those. I have the "Roadblocker" version they made for the Texas Highway Patrol back in the 80's.
Is the Deerslayer rifled or does it just have rifle sights on it?
Brody Diaz
Just has sights on it but it’s the same as the roadblocker otherwise I think. It’s so fun to shoot
Nolan Carter
Nice. There's some minor differences between the models. The Roadblockers were all parkerized rather than blued. Some have a rib and some don't. Mine doesn't, it just has a big white bead on the front. The Roadblockers didn't have checkering or the shiny grip cap either. But mechanically they are the same.
If you want something that really packs a whallop make some "waxers" out of 2+oz turkey loads. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Wyatt Howard
I know fuck all about scattergats but that thing looks badass.
Juan Ward
I'm finna bid on a 97 with original finish that isn't in bad shape at all. Is $750 more than you'd pay for a somewhat collectible 32" full choke 2.75" chamber from 1916?
I think they're really cool collector's pieces, or for cowboy action shooting or just fun range blasting....but the problem is that those can't handle modern ammo. So you're either loading your own, or you're buying expensive and hard to find retro ammo. If you understand that and are cool with it, great! But don't go buying one and think you can just drop modern ammo in it.
The modern repros can handle modern ammo of course.
Kevin Robinson
can't believe you have to pay extra to get a mossberg with wood stocks and they call it "retrograde". it's like they're insulting you for buying it
Landon Butler
how big a piece of shit is the stoeger coach gun? I would get one for fun, but I fear that a 400 dollar brazilian SxS has got to be a trainwreck.
Should be able to find one for cheaper. They’re a little finicky so I wouldn’t buy one without handling it or without an inspection period. They “slam fire” which kicks so much ass. They can handle modern Ammo- just not really steal. They’ll cycle plastic stuff just fine. I’ve done it a bunch. And they’ll shoot all the shells out at once from the reciever if you hold two buttons down. Excellent for if you have it loaded in your pickup and Johnny law is pulling you over.
if its good enough for fighting deadites, its good enough for anything else
Nathaniel Rogers
Meh the finish and wood are so nice though. It will probably end up selling for close to $1k if I researched correctly. All I want is that slamfire goodness baby
Ayden Ortiz
I mean 1k is okay and if there’s interest then that’s something. The finish on old Winchester’s is fantastic. I have a bunch. I have a model 71 which is my favorite rifle. A person has to ensure that the 97 operates correctly or else it is a bit of a death trap. They’re kinda funny to work but they’re really slick and just cool looking and the slam fire is the shit. Few defense shotguns compare.
Brody Cook
if its nice you can afford it and you want it just buy it. yeah maybe you find one few hundered bucks less later but then the woods not as nice as what you are looking at
Tyler Roberts
Nice man They used a model capable of 3inch high brass loads. Kill yourself commie.
Gavin Hernandez
Oh I'm toping out at $750, but i would guess it will reach $950ish
looks like a turd my dude. that park finish and comb look like str8 doo doo
Gavin Lee
maverick 88 is a fine home defense weapon but if you are planning on taking it innawoods and pounding the shit out of it I'd go with the 500 or an 870. 88's are s bit cheaply made, nothing wrong with them just not a shotty to beat the hell out of then expect it to preform as a HD weapon, where you have your life on the line.
