Those just watch stuff, far as I can tell anyway. I guess they might carry some ecm shit, but those are observation and combat support planes primarily. They provide information to other pilots and ground units. Nothing is more valuable than information, if you know where the bad guys are and they don't know where you are, you win.

I'm that paki that's been posting here for the past month or so. We effectively used EW elements against the IAF last month and their air defences. They could do the same for us too I reckon.
We had a SAAB 2000 Erieye AEW in the air providing the picture, we had a major strike package (highly upgraded but old Mirages) with escort aircraft (JF-17s), as well as F-16s within our airspace flying at high altitude ready to drill AMRAAMs into the skulls of any aircraft that gave chase to the strike package.
The EW elements I can't fully disclose, but since in some places it's been talked about. We had No. 24 Sqn of the Pakistan Air Force 'Blinders' in the air, DA-20F AIDEWS. Probably some F-16s with Uncle Sam's AN/ALQ-211s, and possibly some equipment embedded in the strike package.
The Indian air defeces are actuall very solid, and once their upgrades are complete (full IADS), they'll be deadly.
But given the EW support we had in the air, those air defences were rendered useless. Indian interceptors, one Mig-21 and at least one other were shot down. Their much touted Su-30MKI, which is no doubt a fine aircraft, was expecting to engage the PAF with BVR volleys, and they probably suffered at the hands of EW elements and had BVR volleys against them instead.
In Cope India exercises, their MKIs engaged at longe range with BVR volleys, and Mig-21Bis would close in and kill. Due to EW support and superior numbers in the air, the MKIs were on the backfoot, and one Mig didn't even know what was going on until it was shot.
Not exactly, it can be effectively empoyed against nations with advanced technology too, as well as poorfags with decent Russian systems. What use is a growler against the Taliban? None at all. What use is it against a country with an actual standing army and some Russian S-300PMU2 ? Much more useful.

You're completely right. That's what should be done. In the past, we were mostly to blame for instigating conflicts, our bad. But for the last 10-15 years the mood as has changed in Pakistan, and unfortunately it seems to be going the wrong way in India.
Pretty much everyone, from the people, to the elected government, the whole of our national assembley and even the army want peace with India. We reached out to them multiple times, but they've elected a nationalist called Modi, and he doesn't want to even talk with Pakistan, and it seems being harsh on Pakistan wins him votes.
This February conflict started with a terror attack in India, we offered co-operation, instead we got millitary aggression. Modi timed it up ahead of May elections. He did it to solidify his win. I want peace, and so do most Pakistanis. I can't speak for what's going on India, but their politics and media are actually concerning to see.
As for Kashmir, it really is nice. Come and see our mountainous North

I think this is mostly internal. I don't think anyone, from the US to Russia to China, wants to see us at war. Before it was us in Pakistan that destroyed trust and behaved stupidly, mostly due to dictatorships with no sense.
Now Indains are going through some weird identity related hangups, and their nationalistic politics have become popular. And I believe there's a sense of invincibility among Indians, they feel that they're somthing the equivalent of a superpower and we're no better than Iraq in terms of capability. Their millitary knows better than that, but their public, media and politicians are bollywood dreamers. It's what leads to this lions led by sheep scenario, Indian millitary is forced by politicians to stupidly instigate a conflict, and then due to underestimating us, they get caught with their pants down, all while looking like the aggressor.
I hope that we in Pakistan can continue internally and externally to promote, dialogue, peace and development. And wait for sense to prevail in India, although as I said, the direction they are going and the general public rhetoric is concerning. Even this reality check for their armed forces, didn't permeate through to their politics or people, due to their media and internal propaganda.
The worst part is, if Indians feel invincible and end up instigating a large enough conflict. Pakistan can't fight back as effectively and somewhere along the line there's a nuclear threshold. Indians think we're bluffing on the nukes. But it's no bluff, beyond a certain point we're not just threatening to use nukes, we will be obliged to, it won't even be a choice.

I dunno all the ins and outs, but there was this place in Afghanistan we would sometimes patrol called something like Watengatu or something (we always called it “wanna-Taco”)
We couldn’t go there unless we had CAS (Kiowas) with us and notified the electronic warfare officer at the fob when we were almost there.
When we called the EWO, he would have what I assume to be an AWACS shut down every cellphone and jam every normal radio device (like regular civilian walkietalkies, cordless phones, etc) in the entire town while we were there because they would IED ISAF anytime we came there.
