Picked up a Romanian G on a Nodak on the cheap that some cuckleberry pulled the optics rail off of, and slapped into some shitty Tapco mall ninja furniture. Currently trying to get it back into shape.
Snagged this sexy Bake Dong for it in a trade and I'm not sure where to go next. I have a red bakelite grip on it that I need to swap with an orange one, but im at a loss for stock options. Right now it's got that shitty Tapco side folding stock and I hate it. Suggestions, Anonallamas?
And yes, I know the bake dongs are for 74s not 47s but the mags still clear, even if they're a bit clumsy and I like the way it looks.

Oh yeah, for the price and M+M's QC being much better than Century's its worth it. Its a very versatile barebones rifle too; throw some wood on it with a wirefolder and you've got a Romy paratrooper or if you want to make some half-assed AK-105 mad get some Zenit and gucci the fuck outta the rifle. Possibilities are endless at that price point.
So yes, its a good buy. The only take back is the receiver is dimpleless, so you'll always be recognized as a Romanian poorfag. But who gives a shit anyway? If they're hating, they're not shooting.

No, because they haven’t been on the market for that long. That being said, Cugir has had a record for not being as consistent as Izhmash and Molot. WASRs were known as “What A Shitty Rifle” for a reason seven or eight years ago. I’m not talking about the work Century does on them either. Although Cugir’s quality control has apparently improved over time, I would always thoroughly inspect a WASR for things like crushed rivets before buying one.

WASR Paratroopers have an AIMR length gas tube, that's the difference between them and the RH10/M10, not the furniture.

WASRs brought in between '03 and ~'09 were truly dogshit rifles (one of my guns is an unmolested single-stack thumbhole '04 WASR and it fucking sucks). Nearly all anti-WASR sentiment comes from those guns. But Cugir stepped up QC and Century stopped hogging out magwells with fucking dremels and bought CNC mills.
The gun community runs on fuddlore and is slow to forgive though. By the time Sandy Hook happened (the era you're talking about) people were panic buying any and every AK they could, and as a result realizing that WASRs maybe weren't so bad anymore.
By 2015 BobSled was putting out videos singing the WASR's praises and in reality that's when people started admitting they were good rifles.
As someone who owns a 2004 WASR and a 2018 WASR the difference is night and day.

Originally I was going to strip all the fucked up paint off and try to cold blue the whole thing, but now I’m starting to wonder if I would regret stripping the paint, since it’s not something I could undo. It’s not “original” to the factory or anything but it is original in the sense that it’s what was on there when the Israelis captured it. So I’ve actually been wondering how hard it would be to match it on the receiver and leave the rest of the gun as it is.
Before I do anything I am going to try and silver solder a faux third pin, and also there’s a cover plate on the bottom of the receiver that needs to be repaired because one of the previous owners of the kit ripped it off. I did a weaponmark etch kit last night.

Previous owner cut a little notch in the front stub so he could get behind the plate to hammer it out, until he finally gave up and just ripped it out, as evidenced by the fact the plate is bent and the grooves it’s supposed to slide into on the front stub are messed up. One of the things I had turbo do was repair the little notch that was cut.
