Why did it not buckle in WW2?

Why did it not buckle in WW2?

It was the strongest.

2 words, Lend lease

It buckled plenty, but did not break. It came very close to breaking though, and only pulled through by the slimmest of margins.

>muh meme lease
Wehrmacht was broken and in full retreat by the time it started arriving in any significant numbers (still insignificant compared to domestic production, anyway).

>t:brainlet
Tell me again how the Soviets could have withstood the battle of Moscow with only 60% of its medium and heavy armor. Tell me how the Soviets would have been able to push the nazis back without logistics trucks, trains, aircraft fuel, weapons, raw materials and food. Stalin himself has said both publicly and privately that they could not have stood up to the nazis without allied material aid. So maybe you should listen to your idol tanky.

>khrushchevite bullshit
Discarded.

>stand and fight
>chance of being killed by enemy: 90%
>run
>chance of being killed by Commissar: 100%

Also, Russians didnt give a shit about their people so they could into strategic warfare from the start
>example: T34 with terrible ergonomics
>who cares, we can make 10 per hour per plant

>cant come up with an argument so I'm just gonna act superior and ignore it.
Every fucking time

Because Americans and Brits did the actual fighting that lead to Germany's defeat while the soviets spent the war throwing millions of starving, poorly equipped, poorly trained Ivans to get shot by krauts until they were distracted enough by the western front for the soviets to zerg rush them and rape everything that moves, and they only survived long enough to do that thanks to US and UK help.

because then they wouldve been shot

>allied support through lend-lease
>2 fronts required the Germans to split their forces. Many of the eastern fronts veterans were sent to the west to counter the British and American push.
>they knew that if they didn’t fight they’d likely be killed by the Germans anyways.
>large scale propaganda
>strong national unity
>heavily forced conscription of all men of service age.
>soviet citizen fear of retribution by their own government should they not serve.
To name a few, there are many reasons though.

Would you rather have been a russian infantryman on the eastern front in ww2 or a soldier in ww1?

>also forgot the German luftwaffe by this time was pretty much a joke. The pilots were extremely green and under equipped to face the overwhelming RAF and Army Air Corps. On top of that constant large scale bombings by the allies crippled the German war industry helping the soviets quickly put pace the Germans in terms of production.

WWI
Not every soldier in WWI had to sit in a trench and get shelled the whole time.
Being a Slav infantryman on the eastern front is a guaranteed bad time.

This I think is the second biggest part, had the luftwaffe still been at strength the nazis would have been much less torn up while retreating, in fact they may have been able to hold certain fronts with airpower. The overall answer here though is the allies, lend lease, splitting fronts and destroying capabilities really saved the Soviets from destruction

It did at the beginning of Barbarossa.

Some good points about the eastern front.
It's true the German army and Soviet fought with equal amounts of manpower at times however the Germans were not getting reinforcements while the Soviets never ran out aka logistics dudes.

Another thing is Soviet generals like Zhukov were brilliant leading to victory but Stalin would order pointless counter attacks, all the time which propped up the stereotype that slavs were sub human tards who only won with human waves.

hello, Ivan

Lend lease, the west bombing the shit out of germany

They just kept throwing people at the Germans. They literally zerg rushed KEKEKEKEKE the Germans. The German army was 15 million and spread out across Europe. The Russians, being a bunch of savage slavs who reproduce like the rats and roaches that they are, were able to overwhelm them by sheer numbers.

>The Russians, being a bunch of savage slavs who reproduce like the rats and roaches that they are, were able to overwhelm them by sheer numbers.
Even Hitler admitted they were the stronger nation after the war went in their favour

Well if you throw enough people at something, it'll solve itself.

Hitler made the same mistakes Stalin did before moving into Finland. Arriving at the conclusions that his foe: was not prepared, was technologically inferior to the point it would mean certain victory over them, misread the political situation and thought invading forces would be welcomed with open arms.
While Stalin was shunning ideas of war with Germany, some Soviets generals and admirals had already put their forces on alert before Operation Barbarossa started. Because they realized Germany was building up its forces and pointing them East. It was initiative like that which saved the Soviets even heavy losses in 1941, and saved Leningrad and Moscow from being overrun.

I would argue about the forced conscription part. Sure, conscription is a thing, but volunteers did play a major part in Soviet troop numbers. Children who lied about their age, partisans, who were mostly civilians taking whatever guns they could to fight. For Soviets, this was a fight for survival, a lot like a cornered rat. The Germans did not follow the Geneva Convention and were not obligated to hold themselves back on POWs.
There wasn't much retribution for not serving. While lend-lease did play a big part in the Eastern front, mostly with food and vehicles, it was not a dumb zerg rush either. For most Soviet people, this was literally "Protect your home or die trying"

Because the Nazis ran out of gas.

Spicy Bait m8

what timeline are you from?

Anyone who believes that WWII, specifically the Eastern front wasn't entirely about oil and nothing else needs to shuffle right the fuck on off outta here and smash that unfriend button. The U.S. and Venezuela were the largest producers of oil at the time and the only source of oil for the Germans were from synthetic oil and Romanian oil, neither of which could satisfy Germany's appetite. Once the Brits started blockading oil shipments from the Atlantic, the Germans were starved of oil, their only option was to march South East towards the Maikop and Grozny, and hopefully Baku, as these were the only areas that the Germans could even hope for getting a bit of oil. The Middle East and North Africa were undeveloped and the Germans literally only had months worth of fuel. Operation Barbarossa was not a war of conquest, nor was it a war of occupation...It was a large scale raid into the Soviet Union to get one thing and one thing only, oil. Was it ballsy as fuck? Absolutely, but the Germans had no other options. Through a combination of Hitlers generals being strategic dumbasses, thinking they could win the war by taking Moscow because lol real life war is like playing Civ IV, which would lead to the neglect of Army Group South, i.e. literally the sole reason why the Germans invaded. The Germans would ultimately get halted at Stalingrad. Unable to hold the important flank to protect the oilfields, the Germans had no other option but to fight a war of defense, all the way back to the homeland.

Also, some other shit happened on the Western front but whatever.

well yes but to tl;dr that up the red army had the logistics or ability to throw more people in and the Germans didn't.

order 226 was initiated during stalingrad and even that not commonly used. It was true those that came back across the line of war were some times considered spies depending on the context. But even in the finnish war without such incentives even at heavy losses the red army fought with a similar fervor.

Nearly 90% of Russian uniforms and 60% of Russia's food came from Lend Lease, so without it the Russians would have starved and/or frozen to death.

>Through a combination of Hitlers generals being strategic dumbasses, thinking they could win the war by taking Moscow because lol real life war is like playing Civ IV, which would lead to the neglect of Army Group South
Didn't Hitler push for the capture of trophy cities like Moscow and Stalingrad?

Hitler wanted to go south for the oil while some generals wanted to go north to sack Moscow so army groups got scattered along a wide front.

I don't know what's more satisfying, poltard wehraboo reeing or vatnik reeing. The best part is this thread has both

No, Halder, the guy in charge of the German military, was one of the Generals that made the push for Moscow, and after the war, became apart of the US historical division to "tell the story right". This is where we get all of the "Hitler was an idiot" and "Hitler had no idea what he was doing" from. The whole point of the war was to get the oil in the South, and what said.
>ability to throw more people in and the Germans didn't
While true, the reason why this is true isn't because the Russians had the advantage, but rather. It was because of the stupidity of the German high command that took reinforcements that were being sent to Army Group South, and took them to send them to Army Group Central and Army Group North. In fact, the only Army Group that suffered from shortages during the war was Army Group South for this exact reason. This is a really strong case to be made that the Germans could've actually had held on to Stalingrad against the Russian counter-offensive if the reinforcements that were destined to support them actually went to them. I believe the only Army that ran at troop deficit was the German 6th Army, which was the Army responsible for taking Stalingrad.

>chance of an American posting and being retarded
>1000%

LOL willing to bet you have 0 German blood. How does it feel to know Hitler would have gassed you for being subhuman? Tbh Germans got what they deserved in the rape of berlin, considering they were the aggressors and started genociding slavs for no reason. An eye for an eye wehraboo cuck

And not all Soviet tactics were human waves, yes it happened but the soviets did have some legitimately good generals and were better at logistics than hans was.

More resources + good logistics +huge manpower + fighting on home turf = win. Hitler was just an angry 5'7 manlet who was too dumb to realize this, not to mention slavs have +5 cold resistance lmao

Why do euros pretend they know anything or are important. Your militaries and economies are a joke, take a quick look at the global powers real quick and realize that Americans, russians, and Asians are at the top. Euros are an insignificant state full of pussies who don't bathe. Know your place

>considering they were the aggressors and started genociding slavs for no reason
>Half of the SS Divisions were volunteer units, many from Eastern European countries that hated Communism
