With Boston dynamics finally showing competent 4 legged machines how practical would zoids or a smaller version of it be?

>how practical would zoids or a smaller version of it be?
Not practical at all given the size, complexity of design, and massive energy usage to function.
Scaling them down doesn't mitigate these problems nearly enough to be considered cost-effective or combat capable either.

That's unfortunate but makes sense

How do you think I feel as a Gundam fag?

Best internally mounted railgun ever

Oh I loved gundam too but I knew mocha were never going to be efficient

It all really comes down to the question of what mechs can do that jets, armored vehicles, tanks, and ships can't?
Not to mention how putting legs on something makes the chances of catastrophic malfunction and subsequently becoming a sitting duck skyrocket.
Combat mechs never I guess.

Oh fuck off. Talking about the hypothetical practicality of mechs in warfare is perfectly suitable for Jow Forums.

Maybe low gravity warfare is where legs would be better than wheels/tracks

Why not just use mounted thrusters in low-grav?

Tfw you will never pilot a mechanized wolf with twin 88s on its back

Would that be more efficient?

While legged machines have to rely on electromagnetic rotary and gearsets or hydraulics they aren't going to be efficient. Need some direct electric nanotechnology muscles, I'm not holding my breath. ATP is complicated.

Actually, a Boston Dynamics style robot with an automatic mortar might be cool. Especially with near-future target designation. Point, press button, GPS coordinates are sent to robot, press other button to mortar.

I don’t care about practicality, cost or efficiency, I care about instilling terror in my enemies and looking badass while doing so just because I have so much technological capability that fuck it why not.

Thats a plasma gun

Boston Dynamics have proven that their machines can be agile. When they improve the offroad movement of their bots, they'll start strapping weapons to it and start selling it for US.
We've always wanted to give weapons to machines, so it's only a logical step.

Prepare for these guys roaming around.
