VT or Citadel for millitary route

I know I might get some flack for this, and some people might say neither, but I need to choose. My off year is almost over, and my deposits are due in about a month. I was accepted into both The Virgina Tech Corps Of Cadets and The Citadel, and money is not an issue.

Hoping Jow Forums could provide some input.

Listen to me:
Your commissioning source will. not. matter.
Anyone who says otherwise is simply drinking the kool-aid.

Google "black power salute citadel".
Then realize if you go to either one the same problems overlap.

West Point matters. If you can't get in just do ROTC, that's what I ended up doing after I'd been enlisted.

DO NOT GO TO THE CITADEL OR VMI, THEY ARE THE GAYEST PLACE IN THE US MILITARY AND YOU WILL BE HAZED/SEXUALLY ASSAULTED

Fair. West point is distinct, but everything else is the same. Vmi/citadel is just tryhard faggotry. Fuck, you might as well just do normal school and get an ocs slot after a normal college experience.
OP, why not west point?

Go to normal college and do ROTC or graduate and do OCS. VT Corps and Citadel are both kind of gay and tryhardish. The Citadel is a cooler name though

I got merchant marine but they didn’t have the majors I wanted, also too small. Also VMI was never in the question. I’m talking about VTs corps of cadets

No Texas A&M Corps? That'd be coolest

I was accepted there but I’d have to spend the first year at Corpus Cristi

Unless you’re from South Carolina AND are legitimately gay DO NOT GO TO THE CITADEL.

And unless you’re REALLY into the gay parts of the military I would do as other anons have suggested and just do an ROTC program at a regular civilian college so you can experience a somewhat normal college life.

This is your future if you go to a SMA

You have to be a fucking retard to subject yourself to this, no other part of the military does idiotic shit like this

The Senior Military Colleges are incredibly stupid, on the other hand they get slightly better branch options than standard ROTC programs.

VT is half and half, it’s that fine. Or should I just go to my state school and do rotc.

It looks pretty great if you're into homosexual orgies.

>West Point matters
It matters only if you're a fucking piece of shit communist or muslim.

Are those jackets supposed to be star trek knockoffs or eastern european secret police?

Yes

I love the immense butthurt surrounding this guy, up to and including the pic of him flipping the bird to the front gate of ft drum after he got escorted off post.

It’s the lifestyle/experience. You go to one of the senior military colleges you’ll get the cadet life. Imagine being in a fraternity only everything is 100 times gayer. If you’re a weirdo you might enjoy it eventually. If you’re normal you will soon want nothing more than to graduate, commission, and get to your first post.

ROTC will allow you a somewhat more normal college experience while learning some of the basic military shit you need to know.

Your final option is OCS after college which unless you’re dead set on being in the military and making it a career isn’t a bad option. You get to live a normal college life and then when you graduate you can decide if you want to pursue a military career and getting a commission or getting a civilian job.

Citadel, VT is for faggots.

>DO NOT GO TO THE CITADEL OR VMI, THEY ARE THE GAYEST PLACE IN THE US MILITARY AND YOU WILL BE HAZED/SEXUALLY ASSAULTED
Frigg off, VMI may have been gay as fuck but the friends made and connections in the civilian world make it more than worth it. For my autistic ass it was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. There is more to going to the Citadel or VMI then the 4 years of bullshit, hazing, and dealing with more bullshit.

That image makes my inner nerd scream

Citadel washout here. You will need to have some very serious humility about yourself before you even get there. If you decide to go to such a place, you humility will help you to stand the harassment, which will keep you from quitting and having to live with the shame. You really want to spare yourself of that.

In my experience, the A&M Corps was great

You’ll have way more fun at Tech buddy

Citadel grads make absolutely atrocious commanders.

Source; boot fucking LT’s who come from there have been the biggest retards. I still have to pull them aside and remind them that despite their “prestigious school”, they’re a bitch and killing morale of the unit.
>t. Crusty snco who watches you dipshits like a hawk.

Thank fuck ROTC cadre at VMI still does this. But yes, many dickweeds are produced by SMCs who deserve to be shit on.

>you dipshits
Medically disqualified from commissioning friendo :^)

Yeah but I’d have to miss my first year there.

Ayy, there’s a good chance I’m going VT Corps of Cadets for AFROTC year! Nice to know there could be a Jow Forumsommando there.

next year*

I graduated from the citadel in 2017 and am currently an active duty Army Officer. Sadly, I cant recommend you attend The Citadel. From a military perspective I don’t think you gain any real advantages by attending the Citadel aside from a guaranteed combat arms slot, if that’s what you’re into. You don’t get any high speed training or anything that will set you above your peers from regular ROTC and OCS.

The thing I gained most from the citadel was the personal growth and mental toughness of overcoming the hazing and abuse of knob year, and the comeraderie I gained with my classmates because of that shared experience. I still talk to my 5 closest classmates every day. However that experience really no longer exists at the school, as the administration and commandant have bowed to public pressure from washout parents and liberal media to water down the experience and make the citadel something anyone willing to pay the outrageous tuition can make it through. Hazing is nonexistent at the school now and upper class cadets live in terror as even an un-proven accusation of hazing or misconduct can get an upperclassman punished or expelled.

By encouraging snitching and placing the rules above your company and classmates, both the challenge of knob year and the comeraderie built within your class have been eradicated.

So now all that remains of the citadel is a sub-par, over-priced college where you pay to wear gay uniforms, march in weekly parades, have formations eat up 80 minutes of your day and bi-monthly room inspections steal away your saturdays while gaining nothing that will make you better prepared for officership than someone who did rotc at a normal university.

>muh comradarie
I hear this shit all the time. What are you guys a bunch of tards? I've had close connections with people growing up and the same best friend for 25 years. Who the fuck needs to walk an elephant to bond with someone?

No West Point no care
t. your future top

did you see his interview with RT? He states he was taken aback by how aggressive the military was. He's the same as that weeaboo who joined the military and was disillusioned by the warrior knucklehead culture the infantry was.

What in the absolute fuck were they expecting?

I'm this guy , quit from the class of 2015. I attended that "college success institute" the June before going in. We were told at one point by the ombudsmen that "the Citadel ship is going that way (left) and if you don't like it you should get off now"

In light of what you've just said, I wonder if it's worse to be an ashamed failure or a true son of the traditional Citadel that has had to suffer with seeing his beloved institution so ruined. I expect I'll find out when I go back to visit and try to make peace with the past.
