There is a difference between chicken out and dodging someone that can not change course fast enough anymore. The russian plane would not have been able to not crash into the F-15, if the F-15 would have ignored him.

The flanker series is a potent air superiority fighter (specifically modernized versions), but I suspect this thread is for celebrating the F-15 and any mention of the flanker will be met with disdain. You know, technically the flanker has a perfect combat record too. What is it? 2-0 or something against a couple of MiG-29s? We never got to see it shine. However, the initial version of the Su-27 would have been outmatched by the F-15 by simple virtue of the fact that it lacked ARH missiles and the ability to engage multiple targets in TWS mode (it had tws, just not the capability to engage more than target). This is a serious shortcoming. Its only advantage over the F-15 was the integrated IRST and the R-27T and ET missiles that gave it a far greater IR range over sidewinders or R-73s.

Depends which variants you are comparing. The new F-15s are better than the new flankers (I think the Su-35 still doesn't have an AESA radar). But there are flankers in service right now with various countries that are superior to the F-15Cs that are still flying.

Aircraft, especially when you build a lot of them, are going to be in various states of modernization. A basic F-15C built in the 80s without any upgrades is going to be inferior to an Su-35 as well as some of the latter export Su-30s.
