It’s known commonly as a bore Chungus. Due to the 120mm gun on that tank I would say it is a fairly Big Chungus.

Brass blower. It stores pressure from the fired shot to push gasses back towards the casing to prevent it from getting stuck in the bore. It was a problem with older tanks because trying to manually eject a cartridge that had expanded that much was difficult, especially if there is debris present. What's worse is that by design, heat from the barrel always travels back to the receiver since its mass acts like a heatsink, which means fired brass, having the higher thermal expansion coefficient (CTE), only gets stuck worse until the whole thing cools down. Modern tanks are so much more mechanically efficient that they don't necessarily need assistance from the brass blower to eject spent casings, but the thinking is similar to that of an AR's forward assist; you can force it to work properly no matter what.
