/MSG/- Military Surplus General

Found a refinished military rolling block in 7mm for $650. There was an "SM" mark beside 7mm. Does anyone know what that means? Haven't bought it yet.

Is $475 a decent price for a type 99 toyo koygo series 30 with intact mum and numbers matching? No bipod or dust cover. It's very clean overall

I'd guess Spanish Mauser, but don't know for sure.

There's a SM mark after the caliber on my Swedish Mauser but I forgot what it's for

not really weapons related, but a question on british army no.2 dress boots

anyone got any before? they come highly recommended for a good, cheap, quality boot for day to day wear and id like to buy a pair of official issue ones, but i cant find any. cant even find good photos of it.

It's not amazing. How's the stock? The barrel? But a matching Arisaka isn't a common find anymore.

See

Any ideas on how to fix the scratches in the finish on my Mosin? None of it is war damage. It's all been done by idiots handling it in the states.

That's what I believe it stands for. My model 1896 Rolling Block has the same markings if we are talking about the same thing.

what's the average price for a m1910 mexican mauser in pristine condition? guy is pricing for around 800 bucks.

Stock and barrel are in great shape. Thanks for the input

Offer a little lower then.

How long ago was this?

>Found a refinished military rolling block in 7mm

God damn it living my dream.

I've restored a number of them.
They are stupidly fun to shoot.
Most of my work involves milling new front sights to allow the rear sight to work with modern ammo (to an extent).

As a whole, they are absurdly well made, and simply a joy to work on.

>tfw getting the extractor stuck under the fucking barrel while installing the front roller.

fucking countless hours trying to get that thing unstuck

Recommend some hipster milsurp I can reload for. I'm tired of the usual bolt guns.

martini henry.

Cool your jets and just start from scratch.
Really, I've never done that, but I'm a bit slow on the Remmys.

>Cool your jets and just start from scratch.

that's the issue though if the extractor gets stuck under the barrel you can't remove the front roller. It's because I didn't know about that 1 screw that keeps the extractor from slipping under the barrel and I kept it removed while installing that front roller.

Mannlichers.

Just got a Canadian Snider with the little hammer stop. Pretty cool

Sell yourself to disgusting older women.

You can, it takes a decent hit though. An 8 Oz machinists cross peen made in 1936 did it for me.

>My wallet is going to really be hurting in a few weeks. Help me, bros.
Beyond self-defense and a hobby, firearms are a good investment. I've never lost money on any of my gun purchases. Just don't buy junk, and take care of your investment, and you can think of your firearm buys as money in a savings account.

got outbid, $480 now. meh. on to the next
can i remove the white shit from pic related without harming finish

is $350 a fair price for a c 52? it's only coming with one mag and nothing else, but it's very clean.

user, I'm drooling right now. I've been wanting a Type 30 real bad for a while now. How much did that cost you? And how do I check for matching numbers on one of those?

Mum intact or not, you stole that Type 99 for $250. Worst case you could flip it for 3 times what you paid for it to fund a handgun, but I'd hold into it.

What do German Mausers typically go for?
Vz24? FR8?

Three times is a bit of a stretch even for an arisaka like that with the cover and bipod. Theres just not much demand for them it seems whenever I'm at the shows. Probably since ammo is stupidly expensive

German Mauser $400-$3000+
Vz-24 $300-$2000+
FR-8 $300-$450
You gotta be more specific on the first two

help me out here o' knowledgeable user and triphomosexuals. is that white shit desireable? I hate it, how do i remove it?
I'm on the hunt for a t99 matching w/ mum, monopod, and maybe a dusty boi. I'll pay well, my wife is Japanese and it would mean a lot to her mom who's family was in interment camps. Where should I look, what forums? I;m putting out feelers on gunboards.com, but it feels like 46aarp

shitty pics in return
was this refinished?

Attached: 20180903_142202.jpg (2576x1932, 1.4M)

My gf would kill me over that.
I certainly think it was a steal and plan on keeping it though it's not all perfect. Mum was ground, the monopod looks like a repro and the dust cover is mismatched. But it's a series 4 Nagoya with matching bolt, original AA wings, original dust cover (though mismatched), and original sling. Now I just need a bayonet for it.
The white stuff is either crayon or some kind of paint that sellers put on the markings to highlight them. It comes out, just not sure with what. As for type 99s, you can find what you're looking on Gunbroker, though those will be pricey. Otherwise, look at auction sites or local auction house/pawn stores/LGSs to find one. Gunshows might be good too considering most people don't reload and can't find ammo for it so some old guy might offload it for cheap. Good luck on your hunt, user.

Attached: Type 99 Ground Mum.jpg (4032x1960, 1.92M)

it's a school rifle so double circle on the mum and a stamp on the stock and rack number (meiji middle school academy is what it translates to). Paid 600 for it with no cleaning rod. sling is a repro from ww2 supply, has 1st army group in kanji. You need to shoot the heavier 160gr projectiles, mine doesn't stabilize the 140r type 38 cartridge.

gun shows, I payed 350 for the type 99, 300 for the duffel cut type 38, 400 for the type I, 600 for the type 30, and a type 44 for 650. all with mums. got the type 38 school rifle for 350 at a cabelas actually.

I'm watching one and waiting for the guy to lower his price. If it has the stacked cannonballs stamped on the mum, what does that mean? And what parts are numbered on a Type 30? Yours looks beautiful and I really want a hook safety for myself.

fugg man. very nice

thank you for the link user. should I ask about if mid or early war production? also I'm pretty interested in the long rifle model. i appreciate it

Attached: 20180828_200158.jpg (2576x1932, 1.47M)

You can find out roughly when it was produced by the markings on the receiver and looking up the manufacturer and series. As for long rifles, they are super rare considering that only 38,000 were produced before the short rifle was standardized on with 30,000 produced at Toyo Kogyo under Kokura supervision and 8,000 produced by Nagoya. You're going to end up paying a lot if you find one online but in LGSs, pawn shops, and gun shows, they are often mistaken for Type 38s and priced accordingly so they sometimes turn into deals. I really want a matching Nagoya long rifle to go with my short rifle.

stacked cannon balls on mum means it was released from military service. receiver, bolt handle, cocking piece, just about everything is serialized.

i'll have to ask that armlist guy for a pic of the receiver. thanks user. I have a source for checking dom

last question. is a last ditch long rifle t99 series 35 toyo koygo worth it?

I mean if the price is right, I don't have a last ditch type 99 and I don't plan on getting on anytime soon. I still need a type38 carbine and a type 2

Attached: type 44 white bg.jpg (1800x587, 152K)

Long rifles are definitely not last ditch rifles considering that they were produced from 1940-1941. They just tend to be missing a lot of the accessories. Any details on what it has and what is the price?

35th series toyo kogyo

Attached: t99.jpg (489x178, 14K)

Were those numbers matched to the serial number or to an assembly number? What's a good price for one these days?

Aye.

At what point is it acceptable to restore vintage guns and to what extent? Whenever someone asks if they should reblue, the answer is almost always no but there are exceptions that people are okay with like the C96s that spent time in China

K98k, matching or non.
Other kar98 variants
Swedish Mauser
Late WWII Mauser (wondering if stamped parts make it more or less valuable)

A local store was selling an original m1 grand ammo strap for $65.00.

I only have muasers though, so I feel as thought my clips holding 5 8mm rounds wont fit in the m1grand ammo pouches. The m1gra d had a small upper insert clip design unlike opposed the mauser' s cheap clips you slide the rounds into without the clip itself.

Can I utilize this for a mauser?

>fuck me

No pics yet, first time I put money down on a rifle to put a hold on it (didn't have enough cash on me. The town didn't have a branch of my bank, two FFL's in the same store and that dealer was at a show with his card machine). Hell I just got a type 22 off him last Friday.

But it is.

If the product is in the store, just take a Mauser clip with ammo on it with you and see if it fits.
Most stores like that are fine with you trying that as they dont want to deal with the return process.

Are you an Ausie or something? Also posting guns with stabbies

Attached: 1891 Carcano stabby.jpg (3000x746, 667K)

I’m at an auction with a Savage no 4 mk 1 in pretty good condition, what would be a good price to give for it?

$350 max if you try to jew, $425 if you want to be fair.

If it like the pic and how described its a M1923 cartridge belt. The M1 Garand wasn't adopted till the 30's. The belt was designed to hold 100rds of stripper clipped 30-06 for the M1903 rifle. It was kept in service since it could also hold Garand ammo in enblock. If your ammo didn't fit I would be surprised.

For non poo fair market is $425 matching and good condition. Lowering as the condition lowers.

How much did you pay? I payed $200 for mine in good condition but its missing all the goodies including the mum.
