What do you think? www.nytimes.com/2019/02/20/world/europe/germany-defense-spending-european-army.html
>LOHHEIDE, Germany — On a former Cold War base, German and Dutch soldiers, serving together in one tank battalion, stood to attention one recent morning and shouted their battle cry in both languages. >“We fight —,” their commander bellowed. >“— for Germany!” the battalion replied in unison. >“We fight —,” the commander shouted. >“— for the Netherlands!” his soldiers yelled back. >They are not shouting “for Europe.” Not yet. >But the battalion — Europe’s first made up of soldiers from two countries — is an important baby step toward deeper European military cooperation. First floated after World War II, the idea of a European army is as old as the European Union itself, but has yet to become a reality.
It's a fucking joke. Entirely different systems trying to work in unison with minimal budget, under a corrupt, anti-native, globalist government.
Nathan Nguyen
A good first step. I think the basis of a European army will be formed by Germany, the lowlands and France.
Leo Thompson
USA needs to whoop their ass again
Ayden Reed
Anyone who thinks this is a good idea is a Union-cuck who needs to die
William Myers
Most people (or at least those distrustful of the EU and governments in general) think it's a step up to an illegitimate federalization attempt; something whereby it becomes possible to mobilize armed forces from other “districts” to stop any uprisings when they might occur, see also hits the nail on the head.
The entire story as written up also sounds like a typical spook/mockingbird story, they leave out key events and motivators that led to the Dutch and German cooperation. The Dutch tanks division were scrapped because they were no longer useful and then there’s talk about manpower shortages in the Bundeswehr as well, we all know these were political decisions on some level or another (Dutch thought tanks would cost to much in the present era, but found out they were a joke without them; Germans have endlessly vilified the armed forces to such an extent that nobody want to join or and its core values have become watered down versions). This is simply a badly written, ill researched and malevolently naïve promotion article.
Nolan Flores
Nah, we should just let them kill each other this time.
Jackson Cooper
I can imagine the bloated mess with 2 entirely different HR departments for the same unit, that for obvious political reasons will never ever get deployed.
Europe has come close to total unification before multiple times through politics, generally due to people east of the Rhine.
Most likely you may see smaller militaries fall under German defacto control simply due to the fact it's easier and cheaper that way and the smaller countries then get the advantage of Germany having to support them.
The most likely outcome is to see an increase in German defence tech being the winner of contracts with other countries. Despite it usually being over-engineered garbage.
Jaxson Lee
How does that Saudi cock taste?
Jack Gonzalez
It's actually the French that are pushing for it atm
Jason Jenkins
Plenty of times when France was the defacto ruler of western europe
Landon Brown
The French will swing back and forth and are only pushing for more power in the EU to check the Germans.
Both countries have large defence manufacturing sectors, are the centres of most of Europe's languages and cultures, have roughly equal military strengths minus nuclear capabilities and tend to be the ones who fight the other when Poland starts a war in Europe.
Cameron Morris
The most likely outcome is even more companies merging into multinational giants. This is already happening all over EU.
Chase Walker
>when Poland starts a war in Europe
What?
Juan Ross
poland has a habit of starting shit they can't finish.
Adrian Cooper
Poland as a country has been the cause of nearly all wars in Europe for the last 200 years. Either they're rebelling, being the prize, being invaded or invading someone else.
If you want to shatter the peace of you Europe, you call the plumber.
Jordan Cook
Most multi-nationals are that already, they're barely linked with their nationalities anymore.
Austin Parker
This is complete bullshit.
Aaron Hernandez
It's not. Look up the multiple partitions of Poland as well as the wars of the Napoleonic Era.
Wyatt Williams
>On a former Cold War base eh, aren't all bases built before the 90s cold war bases?
Easton Wilson
Probably refers to bases that were actively used by NATO armies during the cold war.
Aaron Jackson
how the shit is it polands fault that they get invaded? They sit between russia and germany, Its the fucking invasion superhighway. Not much they can do about that.
Charles Lopez
Are you retard? Why the lowlands and not Italy? Is the third military force of Europe and quite on par with Germany, even superior in some specialities.
Aiden Rivera
Probably because those countries already have some degree of integration with eachother.
Aaron Thompson
Are you suggesting cucked western militaries don't have HR departments? The aussies litterly employ gender diversity officers to sit in on mission briefs to ensure commanders have considered feminist view points in their plans.
Jack Ward
And still they would rek your shitty vladnik army
Brandon Watson
No they don't. They have token officer positions because they higher up are politicians in uniform.
Mason Cruz
>Dutch thought tanks would cost to much in the present era, but found out they were a joke without them We're a joke with em too.
Jacob Jenkins
Did I say it's their fault? I'm just saying they're the reason for the majority of European conflicts.
Noah Adams
>Probably because those countries already have some degree of integration with eachother. same as Italy as far as I know. Some degree of uniformity is already there, mainly due to NATO and same weapons systems. France and Italy develops ship together (FREMM program). Germany and Italy used to develop produce and fly PANAVIA TORNADO. Just two random examples.
>Figures released to senate estimates showed that although there are fewer females they are more likely to be deemed suitable for promotion over their male colleagues. In most cases they were also promoted quicker than their male counterparts.
Benjamin Allen
>Regional Entity >Globalist Lmao.
Owen Peterson
> >Trusting Angela Merkel with a EU army You can’t even trust her with the euro zone
Hunter Jones
Yeah, but France and Belgium as well as the Netherlands and Germany have integrated formations. An entire Dutch brigade is part of a German armored division.
David James
Because the current Italian government is retarded. It didn't join the FCAS program for examples
Eli Gutierrez
10 out of 50,000 is token. So is 138 people who literally have just been told, "The civilian stakeholders are a component we should consider when conducting bombing"
Much like how you can't destroy everything in your path like a Mongol horde as a soldier, blowing up key infrastructure when you're trying to win hearts and minds isn't the best option.
Nathan Gutierrez
An army that big would instantly have a lot of power in the world and who do you think would lead that army? France and Germany. I'm not comfortable giving that much power to two already powerful nations as you wouldn't use an army that large for "defending" europe it would soley be an offensive army. My best guess is that in the last few decades the various powerful european gov's made up fake enemies and threats so that they could justify building a big army which they would then use like the U.S.A. has used their army for years namely securing economic gains in smaller less developed countries. I feel like we have been purposefully led to this point of fear so we would embrace a european army by people with interior motives.
Tl;dr Germany and France want their own version of the neo colonialist U.S. Army
Jaxon Baker
Righto Angus, shouldn't you be busy making sure units aren't using politically incorrect mottos or mascots?
Alexander Lewis
But the EU has really no interests in the middle east. My bet is it would be used at most as a peace keeping force in North Africa to prevent immigration. The European public opinion wouldn't approve of an American-like global policy
Matthew Collins
Eat my arse dickhead, the officer corps is already filled with chromosome hoarding chinless wonders. You telling some cuckhold RAAFies are going to change anything?
This shit's just fucking a big political circle jerk for the higher ups, but you wouldn't know shit about actually serving I'm guessing.
Josiah Smith
You mean apart from overthrowing Gaddafi the starting the immigration crisis in the first place.
Nolan Russell
>prevent immigration
Oliver Cooper
>implying in not currently serving
Jose Wright
>But the EU has really no interests in the middle east Not true. The EU is not energy independent and relies on middle-eastern oil.
Xavier Bailey
>implying you aren't a mouth breathing pog
Carson Peterson
"peace keeping"
The U.S. also only invades backwater shitholes when they have to secure muh freedom so the EU would do exactly the same but I agree with the with the immigration part. I think Germany is already doing that.
Alexander Ward
How's those infantry gender quotas going ;)
Christian Taylor
Nah, it's Russian gas that we need.
Noah Jones
Libya isn't in the middle east Given that the EU gave several billion euros to Turkey to close their borders to immigrants and tolerates dictators in North Africa I guess it must be quite an high priority True, but with Nordstream it will be more reliant on the gas from Russia. Also it's moving away from fossil fuels in general True, but you can't sell that so easily to an European market
Jordan Richardson
>True, but you can't sell that so easily to an European market
If you can sell it to americans you can sell it to americanized europeans
Josiah Morgan
>reddit spacing
Jace Sullivan
Oil and gas are used for different things. For the foreseeable future the economy is going to run on petroleum and that comes from the middle east in Europe's (and Asia's) case.
Jeremiah Price
They all were at some point...
Oliver Anderson
There's about half a platoon worth of OR's and Officers in both divisions combined.
Much like Cav and other redundant corps they're getting phased out because they can't maintain the standard.
Levi Anderson
You said that poland starts the war, therefore being at fault for it. Not that they were the reason for the war. So yes you did say that it was their fault.
Alexander Cox
Cry more and go unclog a toilet Boleslaw.
Samuel Hall
Why the fuck would we need an army to ensure peace in north africa? Just make sure a dictator will continue to sell us oil and then fuck the rest? The only reason there is a immigration crisis is because no one has the balls to shoot down the boats or force them back to the shore they came from.
Matthew Butler
I had no part in the discussion, just pointed out your error. Stop bitching and throwing names because you got caught. Own it and get on with your life.
Lucas Reed
In my opinion to keep those dictators dependant on us. Otherwise they could just blackmail you and let immigrants go through if they don't get what they want
Jordan Price
To turn those dictators into glorified vassal states.
Carson Garcia
Force projection
Christian Rogers
>continues to cry
Jack Anderson
>Germany >Army Just stop it. Accept it Europhiles, Mama Merkle has the worst army in the Union and all of these bable about an EU Army are Germany trying to pass the cost to someone else.
Matthew Brown
Then return the fucking boats or sink them. No one wants to die for gib me dats. Why would you want a shitty country with all the problems that come with it? Install a dictator, let him control it with plausible deniablity and install a new one when he fucks up. It's not that hard, US has been doing it for quite some years. Force projection to what? Nothing in north Africa extends the range of a European army?
Lucas Martin
Because France hasn't given up on their colonial Empire.
David Rivera
Sure mate, have a good one.
Easton Richardson
>Then return the fucking boats or sink them. No one wants to die for gib me dats. The immigrant crisis is already over. If you look at more recent stats they're even lower
>sink them Yeah, noone, not even the most extreme right wing loonies will let that fly. It's far better to have them starve in the Sahara. Out of sight, out of mind. There's a reason Euros keep bribing the fuck out of north african countries.
Jace Myers
>Force projection to what? Nothing in north Africa extends the range of a European army? To all the sweet resources. Look at the French in Mali for example
Lincoln Cooper
>Only showing the most focused parts and ignoring Immigrants have started coming through Eastern Europe.
Cooper Barnes
Agreed, although I'm austrian and we don't have a big military force or the necessary military budget I think compared to the resources the germans have, we are fairly competent with the tools we have to work with.
Julian Lewis
We are talking about boat people and North Africa
Lucas Hernandez
>not even the most extreme right wing will let that flie Stop lying you fruit.
Easton Ross
That's more a criticism of the graphic rather than your point. The biggest problem with the boat people is that NGOs basically scoop them up as soon as they are in international waters so even if the Italian navy would turn on the Oto Melara on the boats they would only sink a small percentage. And since the NGOs often fly under EU, USA or Israeli flags you couldn't stop them.
Dominic White
I know sinking them is a bit too extreme, but you get the point, don't ever let them enter Europe. France is already in Mali, if they wan't to secure Mali then secure Mali. No need to occupy the rest of the dust filled shithole.
Luis Campbell
For example, the Eurofighter Typhoon. TBHFAM I'm surprised they're were able to collaborate well enough to pull it off. I'm really excited for more merged R&D efforts across Europe
Aiden Barnes
There's the Eurocopter Tiger too
Brody Cox
> under a corrupt, anti-native, globalist government Nigga, you realize that western-European countries are among the least corrupt countries in the world, right.
Look up familiy reunification, mate. Why do you think all the rapefugees were young men? The reason is simple, it's because they were a lure to enable family reunification. Kind of like in fishing.
So that even the biggest idiot on Jow Forums understands what is going (and God knows we have some world class idiots on here):
>you're a family of kebabs/niggers in some shithole >you want to move to Europe because life is both easier and more luxurious there and you don't even have to work per se. >you can't just move to Europe. Since even cucked European law doesn't allow it, since you don't have the money for it and since you don't have the physical fitness to do it as a family (kids, elderly or sickly family members etc) >but you still want to go to Europe for the already explained reasons. So what do you do? >YOU SEND YOUR MOST FIT SON TO EUROPE - THIS IS WHY ALL THE RAPEFUGEES ARE YOUNG, NON-OBESE MEN!!! >this son will then ask for asylum and get it (or another status that is identical for all intents and purposes to full asylum) thanks to cucked laws, NGO's and lawyers >once this son will have received his new status, he can legally and comfortably bring over his family. All he has to do is buy airplane tickets with NGO money.
Voila, you live with your family in Europe and enjoy an easy and comfortable life without having to work. Mission accomplished for you and your family.
Christopher Perry
This is the dumbest thing I've seen on the internet today.
Ryder Foster
>wikipedia
Adrian Morris
>No need to occupy the rest of the dust filled shithole. Google "CFA Franc". This is literally the reason why France is occupying a dozen African countries including Mali. Not natural resources.
>he says nervously as the frat batch of migrants hits his town
Benjamin Murphy
Not him, but it's going the same way with family reunification. The immigrant crisis is more or less over. I can only speak from my own countries point of view but:
1) Getting accepted as a refugee has gotten insanely difficult. We're literally deporting people back to even the most shitty countries like Libya and Solmalia
2) to get familiy reunification here you have to live up at least 4 of the following six criteria: - passing a Danish language exam (obligatory) - Having at least 5 years of either full-time employment or as a owner of your own company in Denmark - Having at least 6 years of educational background in Denmark - and at least one of them above basic school - English skills at B1 level or higher or passed "Danish 1" language exam. - Full-time employment inat least 3 of the last 5 years. - Passed vocational or higher education of at least 1 year.
On top of this you have to be able to provide at least 100.000 danish crowns as a security, to make sure you can provide for your family.
And we're not the only ones in Europe with these kind of rules. As you can see we're not exactly letting anyone in here anymore.
Ryder Perry
>Corruption_Perceptions_Index >Perception
Thomas Ortiz
Provide a cridible source that suggests otherwise, and should be trusted more than the most recognised list for comparring corruption in existance. >you can't.
Just admit it. It hurts feelings to see that western Europe is doing fine and isn't on the bring of destruction like you like to fantasize about
Cameron Roberts
>The immigrant crisis is more or less over. It really isn't. The immigrant crisis will be over when everyone of these fuckers will have left Europe again.
Jose Wright
Immigration as a problem isn't over. The "immigration crisis" is definitely over. We are currently lower than the lowest immigration scenario predicted a few years ago
Jose Richardson
>The "immigration crisis" is definitely over. How when they're still physically here?
Jeremiah Parker
That's just your regular immigration. A crisis is something out of the ordinary. It's like asking why there are people unemployed when the economic crisis is over
Daniel Rivera
>That's just your regular immigration. That's a blatant lie and you know it.
Over the last 5 years, several million shitholers came to Europe as "refugees" or "asylum seekers" or whatever you wanna call them and they are still here! They have not left Europe! They have not been deported!
Gabriel Smith
Yes, and that was the immigration crisis. Now that it is over we have to cope with the consequences
