Yikes.
Still though, congrats man. Beats the hell out of some gayboy glock
>He bought a .45 1911
Browning is rolling in his grave son.
.38 or go home.
Thanks, it was one of the cheaper options, i wanted a colt but our local store doesnt sell them :< im still happy i already shot it and i love it!
Why are your hands so tiny?
I'm 5"6, sorry.
Neat. Now go on ebay and buy you a bunch of cheap accessories to personalize it a bit.
1911 was my first too, though I went for the slightly more expensive nut still cheap pt111 mostly because the stainless looked cooler.
Epic meme! Brb this one meme made me return my 1911
Yes.
great, now just don't be the noob that puts a great big idiot scratch on it like pic related. go watch some vid on youtube since clearly you lack a male father figure in your life that could show you how to take that apart and put it back together
right on op welcome to the club, this is mine
Welcome to the party Pool Boy!
>44
So close!
But yeah man, congratulations on the first gun! Please do learn proper assembly/disassembly with it. Good on ya, man!
or he can, because it's just a cheepie and not the end of the world
live and learn
Mein neger.
You what? Browning was a big fan of the .45 ACP. He considered it one of his best designed calibers.
Truth be told i dont want to personalize this too much, i mainly got it because i love classic guns, in the future when i get my cwp ill probably get a s&w 9mm and put all that tacticool stuff on it.
My grandfather is a vietnam vet and he guided me on how to clean it earlier.
fellow Mil Spec owner here, ditch the mags it came with and get some Wilson Combat (WC) mags, they hold 8 instead of 7 and are pretty much the gold standard for 1911 mags. If you are near a Cabela's they should have some instock
Nice
>My grandfather is a vietnam vet
my father had a college deferment from the Vietnam war.......fug I'm old
It came with 2 8 round mags, actually
really? my Mil Spec came with 7 rounders, but I bought it like 3 (?) years ago, so who knows
Yup, definately will check those out next time i get paid, you can never have too many mags.
Accessories are not exactly permanent. They are dirt cheap and just for shits and giggles once you get use to having it in the one configuration for a while.
Really bums me out that Springfield has gone down the poop chute. When I think of 1911's I think of Springfield and their logo on the grips, just feels right to me.
>I am now in the 1911 owners club!
Congrats, good choice, although the noguns faggots will howl little deranged little bitches regarding 1911, Springfield, and because they're jelly noguns cunts.
I have a 1980's Springfield 1911 that my Pops gave me on my 21st B-day, and I've never had a FTF or FTE. He carried a 1911 in the Marines, and picked this gun out for me because he thought it was the "tightest 1911 I've ever held, tighter than a 9-year-old nun." He was convinced that a skilled armorer worked on it, but there's no evidence that it was modified in any way. I only use the factory mag and Chip McCormick mags, and can put a fist-sized hole in the Xring at 25 feet. A dozen Colt fags who are better shots than me can do it with my gun at 50 feet.
Again, congrats. You'll love the JM Browning design for the rest of your life.
what kind of wanna-be boomer gets a 1911 as a first gun in 2019? Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Your dad was a coward. He should have dropped school to go willingly. I'm a civilian now but if there's another large war I will stop what I'm doing to be part of it.
A lifetime (((propaganda))) that created our new national foundation myth out of WWII embedded the guns of that era into his brain in a way he couldn't resist.
I never really understood the hate the 1911 gets.
I don't own one though so I can't really relate. My first gun is a .44 Desert Eagle.
>I'm a civilian now but if there's another large war I will stop what I'm doing to be part of it
you don't need to wait, join now, we'll have another shooting mach soon enough, come on....coward
user, I don't hate the 1911 or anything like that, what I'm questioning is why you would choose that platform or the caliber as a first gun. It's fucking weird.
>not fighting in Jewish proxy wars makes you a coward
Go ahead and lift another tendie into your mouth, you fat faggot
>I'm questioning is why you would choose that platform or the caliber as a first gun. It's fucking weird.
As opposed to what? A HiPoint? A Gluck? A Ring-of-fire Saturday Night Special? Kek, You're fucking weird, dude.

Yikes and saged
It builds good gun cleaning and oiling habits due to it needed more care to work.
My second handgun was a 1976 Ruger Security Six. It's a great shooter, but not half the fun as a 1911. Wheelguns have their place, but John Moses Browning's (blessed be his name) most interesting design is still being manufactured-- over 100 years later-- by almost ALL leading firearms companies speaks volumes about accuracy, reliability, and the sheer brilliance of the design.
>It builds good gun cleaning and oiling habits due to it needed more care to work.
kek, you know shit. I hope you never clean your Glock and a squib takes your hands off.
Not op but the only reason I ever bought any guns ever, was because I enjoyed ww2 documentaries, and didn't know much so a 1911 was a no-brainer for me.
No regrets.
>still being manufactured-- over 100 years later-- by almost ALL leading firearms companies speaks volumes about how stupid most gun owners are
Lol he thinks a 1911 is more reliable than a glock. Fucking retard.
Accurate. Literally the only reason to own a 1911 is if it was your granddaddy’s service weapon.
>I enjoyed ww2 documentaries, and didn't know much so a 1911 was a no-brainer for me.
You knew/know more that most of the fuckheads that post here.
Noguns vidya and airsoft faggots spotted.
To answer all of your questions on why i got it, its simple. I have wanted a 1911 for years, ive seen this gun on the shelf for a year or more since the local hardware shop and gun shop are one in the same and my grandfather would shop and id browse the guns. Its not something i am gonna conceal carry anytime soon, but i live on my own now, and i wanted this to be my first gun for some reason. If you dont like the fact that i bought a 1911 then the simple answer is to not buy a 1911 yourselves.
>the simple answer is to not buy a 1911 yourselves.
Underaged vidya faggots can't, anyway.
Op here, im ditto, sort of. I live around a lot of vets and have seen a lot of films with a 1911, i shot a full mag through it and i have had literally no problems, i dont know what all this hate is about other than protecting their brands.
she is woman. don't hate
Never have been a fan of the glock. It just looks ugly to me. If i wanted modern firearms id get a smith and wesson or something lol.
>i dont know what all this hate is about other than protecting their brands.
It's mostly children with no gun experience. Don't worry about it. They like the shit they see in their video games and airsoft toys.
Not a woman just a manlet
>If i wanted modern firearms id get a smith and wesson
hoo, boy. Don't worry, you'll grow up some day.
Have you even owned or shot a 1911, lol
>a left handed """"""knight""""""
Looks like the squire is playing pretend again
>Have you even owned or shot a 1911, lol
All of the pathetic little assholes that slag 1911's have never fired any real gun before.
>seething this hard
Yikes dude this is all just for fun. We ain't personally attacking you
At least you are no longer a noguns manlet! Good choice on the 1911, I hope you like it! Remember 230 grain! It will cycle better if you feed it what it was designed to eat. They also tend to like oil. Pic related is the model I have.
My 1911 is my favorite pistol, but I might recommend a 9mm for a first gun just because of cheaper ammo allows for more practice.
>Yikes dude this is all just for fun.
Seething? I'm laughing at you, noguns.
I disassembled and oiled it earlier, i had help with a youtube guide, but i hope i oiled it correctly. I racked the slide abour 20x afterwards and it seems to go correctly lol
anyone have any recommendations on a 1911 in the 700 - 800 price range?
I still dont know enough about them for reccomendations, but mine was marked down to 689$ before taxes.
>I disassembled and oiled it earlier, i had help with a youtube guide, but i hope i oiled it correctly. I racked the slide abour 20x afterwards and it seems to go correctly lol
You can't oil it incorrectly, just mop up puddles, and make sure everything internal has a nice sheen of oil on it, including the rails. If you can rack the slide, you got the slide stop pin through the barrel link, and you're ready to go.
Getting that barrel link in the right spot was fucking annoying ngl
I hope you mean yards, user because that's just pitiful.
It is exceptionally hard for any company to not put out a at least half decent 1911 at any price point. Sure the more expensive are more accurate but that hardly matters at normal pistol distances.
>I hope you mean yards, user because that's just pitiful.
OK, no guns. Whatever
>Getting that barrel link in the right spot was fucking annoying ngl
When reassembling the slide, make sure the barrel link is tipped back towards the firing pin, and then align the slide and frame at the disassembly notches. It gets really easy after you've done it a bunch of times.
I was mostly worried about loosing all that oil after all the times i took off the slide and put it back on.
Lefty faggot
It's not going to have tremendous accuracy out of the box and what little wear on the rails you add by working it dry isn't going to matter much for thousands and thousands of cycles.
>I was mostly worried about loosing all that oil after all the times i took off the slide and put it back on.
Don't. A fine sheen of oil is all you need, and it's ok to wipe off the exterior with a cotton rag repeatedly. A bit too much is better than not enough, but your 1911 doesn't need to leak like a car with a bad seal. If all the parts you can see during a field strip look shiny with oil, you did good.
Funny enough, i was the only one able to shoot it. I was with my grandpa and his friend, and they couldnt get it to shoot, yet i shot 5 rounds without issue
>It's not going to have tremendous accuracy out of the box
All of my 1911's shot well out of the box, but there is a 300+ round break-in period for most auto loaders for springs to seat, etc. Pro tip: most auto problems are bad mags.
Is liking the m1911 that much of a cardinal sin on here?
4 million get son
>Funny enough, i was the only one able to shoot it. I was with my grandpa and his friend, and they couldnt get it to shoot, yet i shot 5 rounds without issue
You can't limp wrist a 1911. Like many other autoloaders, they won't cycle unless you have a firm grip, and with a 1911, you have to mash the grip safety flush with the receiver. I took a nephew and niece (cousins) out innawoods to shoot my 1911 last Thanksgiving. My 12-year-old niece was mag dumping with accuracy by her third mag. Her cousin, a 22-year-old sperglord dude, fucked up so bad that I took the gun from him, and made him reloading bitch. If you're afraid of a gun, you should not shoot.
Higher end 1911 (or usually guns in general) have tighter tolerances and do need to be broken-in, but cheaper ones are more loose, so breaking them in wont change much.
post your guns lardass
We need less faggots like this here
>Higher end 1911 (or usually guns in general) have tighter tolerances and do need to be broken-in, but cheaper ones are more loose, so breaking them in wont change much.
I can't disagree, as this has been my experience, but I will add that a well made gun that has been stripped, cleaned, and had the action worked for awhile will generally work just fine.
I was more so afraid of it coming back and hitting me, so yeah, i had a firm grip lol
I'd really like a stainless 1911 but it seems like there are way too many options and I can't really decide which is best
>I was more so afraid of it coming back and hitting me, so yeah, i had a firm grip lol
kek, you'll do just fine. Once you really get the feel, the 1911 platform is a LOT of fun to shoot, and once you feel confidant with your skills, you'll always know that your home and person are totally safe when your gun is within reach.
Wasn't as bad as when me and my uncle were messing with my 1911 for the first time (the first handgun either of us had shot) We were pulling so hard the bullets were hitting the ground and skipping to the target lol. You could actually see the trenches cut in the ground before the target and we couldn't figure out why.
>I'd really like a stainless 1911 but it seems like there are way too many options and I can't really decide which is best
Ruger has made some really nice SS 1911's over the years, but one problem with all SS autos is that the slide/frame contact can gall without constant attention to lubrication. If you like the looks of a two tone, that might be better, but one of my personal Holy Grail's is to find an old school SS AMT 1911 at a price I can afford. I like the stainless, too.
I've heard good things from Ruger
congrats. my tip for you is buy quality mags
.38 wheelie boi! Army.
>buy quality mags
This. some cheap mags work, some don't. Some expensive mags don't work.Check reviews if you're buying a bunch on the internet.
Thanks for sharing op. here's a few things that I went though in your shooes that you should keep in mind.
>Don't keep ammo anywhere near it while inside, until you are well though the "first gun finger-fucking stages" unless you want to end up putting a hole in your roof.
>The only parts you ever really need to worry about breaking are the extractor, firing pin, and the recoil spring can also wear with enough rounds. So get extra if you want to feed your LARPing fantasies.
>Don't play with it while sleep deprived or drunk.
>It takes quite a bit of practice to get good. wal-mart often carries 50 round boxes of brass perfecta for like $14.95
Have fun OP,
Most of those things listed are basic safety shit everyone should learn for every gun.
yep, but no telling if op has had any training at all so i figured i would state the obvious just in case.
What's wrong with glocks? Mag capacity, reliability, accuracy, and weight all beat a 1911. Only thing a 1911 has over a glock is it looks way cooler.
