As far as gun culture goes, we definitely like our guns. It's not a very much in-your-face sort of deal but there are plenty of folks here who enjoy shooting and collecting guns. There are plenty of public ranges as well as private ones and even a fair number of training facilities.

Most of TN is in agricultural zone 7 (along with Kentucky, Virginia, and western NC). Except Memphis—Memphis can get real hot. But the rest of the state is temperate by southern standards.
Zone 7 means that there are mild winters where it can get below 0F (sometimes -15 or -20F in the high elevation, eastern mountains, where there are pockets of zone 6).
If there was no winter, it would be sort of tropical. I live innazone 7 and always can get avocados and citrus to grow in the summer (although the late October frosts will kill them). Peaches will grow well year round in this zone. Memphis is zone 8 (like most of the Deep South), Florida is 9 and 10.
