Let's say that the Gubermint decided that only one caliber of bullet is now allowed to be manufactured and sold
What would the best choice? The best 'jack of all trades' round'?
Pic unrelated

.35 is best
I'd go with 7.62x25 or 5.7
>can be used on a concealable gun
>still works great out of long barrels
It's a shame that they don't give more love to the 7.62 Tok tho.
This
.45ACP

7.62 real fuckin' NATO.
.308 due to range, firearm selection, and .30 caliber bullet selection.
You have anything from the sbr/pistol fals all the way to bolt-actions that have great long-range capability.
There's pretty much every style of firearm made in .308, plenty of milsurp, and its more than sufficient for hunting anything in North America, including federally protected Long Pig.
Any 7mm bullet will do.
>caliber
In that case there's a decent argument for something around 6.5 mm or 0.26. It's relatively optimal for long-range ballistics, and modern cartridge technology permits creation of effective pistol rounds of about that caliber.
davy crockett recoilless rifle. It would be fucking time to use that round, too. Once the standing government has a different opinion, we go back to having firearms that can be used for hunting.
40mm
I look at this from a standpoint of utility and standardization. The only cartridge I have in mind that can fill the most niches (CCW, some hunting, and combat rifles) is .30 Carbine, but it might be a pain in the ass to make a CCW or decent big game rifle out of it.
10mm
Not even kidding.
if dubs 22lr
8ga
Itll be cheap as hell being the only type manufactured, and there is such thing as smaller loads that are like half as long i think umless im just retarded
After this shell sizes will be measured in length
>implying anyone would be happy with one caliber
>Punt gun shell
Do you have retarded?
I've been thinking about this for a while. Currently 9x25 Dillon is the best bet. But perhaps necking 10mm down further to 8mm or .30 Cal for better bullet selection would work. Maybe have a rifle load and a pistol load. The rifle load having spitzer projectiles and the pistol load having round nose bullets.

Im going to get shit for it but unironically 9mm.
>Handguns are still game and revolvers in 9mm exist
>The vast majority of engagements by law enforcement and civilians is close enough that pccs and subguns suffice
>Long range shots don't matter to civs
>Replace shotgun calibers with black powder and shot
>Only headshots when hunting
357 mag
>Can be used for self defense
>Can be used for carry
>Can be used to drop some big animals
>Can be tuned for rifles
>Can pierce 3a armor
Came here to post this, carry on

Probably .410. You can shoot a million types of ammo through that.
9x25 Dillon
>not wanting to cc a single shot 8g pistol
You're never gonna make it
You son of a bitch!
>letting the guberment say what you can, or cannot own.
>Not ventilating the bastards and owning ALL the calibers.
