FYI, the fin only has to go up to the top of the exposed trigger. The fin in OP's pic is over doing it. Lower fins allow the thumb to wrap around the grip.

yeah, when the upper is in place, the mag is locked. you push the button, the upper is raised and not a functional weapon, so you can drop the mag.

You can also have all the features on your rifle and still be in compliance. I have one on mine.

I don't understand why some people refuse to go featureless, aside from not complying in anyway. Not only do you get the regular mag release and standard magazine, but if you go out of state, a happening happens, or you feel like not complying any more, it takes minutes if not seconds to put all the evil back on. The hardest part is probably the muzzle device.

I hate to admit, but my thumb cover has a thumb rest and it's so comfy and I shoot tighter. If I get out of this state I'm seriously going to consider a thumb rest on the right side for long distance shooting on my grip.
