>Should I go Navy Enlisted Nuke? Maybe. i.imgur.com/FZ0Q9q4.png tl;dr: Long hard school, long work hours, with good job prospects. It's definitely not for everyone or even most people in general.
>wanting to spend more than a second longer than you have to in training okay kid enjoy doing a shit load of bullshit tasks because AIT doesn't teach you jack shit
Jacob Harris
So far I have EM, GSE electrical, and MR. are there any rates similar so the recruter wont think im job locking?
I just want somebody to suck my dick again, it's been a fucking year
Thomas Flores
not that user but I fucking loved my AIT in sunny Florida, and the instruction was top notch.
t. 35S (CTR for navy pukes)
Landon Davis
Discord is decent if you want branch or job-specific answers and someone to regularly ask them to instead of a "Hey is that coastie ET i was talking to here?" you can just @ someone in the server and they'll get back to you when they're not busy It also should be mentioned that I've seen a lot of info in threads that's just plain wrong, and it leads me to believe most people here are deppers/nonserves just spreading rumors and bullshit around like it's fact.
Camden Roberts
MR is trash, GSE is better than EM for sure. Tell him you want GSE or GSM, no reason they wont be available.
Levi Miller
Do you want to be a wire-biter or a wrench turner? GSM/GSE are great rates that are undermanned IIRC and have quick promotions, EM can be extremely varied, and I've never met an MR.
Ryder Jackson
>35S (CTR for navy pukes) These 2 definitely are not the same
Benjamin Moore
Are you sure that I can just pick GSE without any problems? I went to a tradehighschool as an electrican and have a high asvab so its not like I cant to the job. Im sure someday your dick will be sucked, by a human mouth, yours or anothers, a robotic mouth, or one of an animal, someday it will be sucked
not anymore, no. and Navy CTRs even then had their signal eggheads and their reporter cucks under the same rate but not always at the same commands. so your view of the job may be incomplete depending on your experience.
Christian Reed
If your asvab is high theyre gonna try to strong arm you into nuke, what was your asvab? And just tell your recruiter look I want GSE, if you can get me that im all in. If not, im going to see the army.
Landon Evans
Yeah dude depending on your scores GSE should almost always be open. If not, you can pick a different rate or try and wait for that one to open
Alexander Anderson
I got an 80 on a bad day, If I studied Im pretty sure I could get 95+. Im not sure I can stand up as I've been a limp fuckboy who avoided confrontaition and just poured laxitives in their drinks behind thier backs
Thomas Taylor
Well you dont want that high, cause if you score that high theyre gonna shove you into NUKE, also you dont have to "stand up", just be firm from jump.
Nolan Richardson
>shove you into nuke you can just say "no"
Lucas Collins
LMAO if you just click the course and then hit the back button it gives you the cert automatically
350F here ama next few hours. Got outstandings across the board on this past years appraisal for my civ job, so looking forward to that cash award.

Looking at general firearm maintenance jobs in a few different branches, namely Gunner's Mate in the Coast Guard and Navy, and 91F (firearms/artillery maintainer) in the Army. Not really sure what questions to ask the recruiters, but I'm mostly concerned about actually getting a job that lets me work with firearms as opposed to missile or torpedo systems in the case of the Navy. It seems like the Army is more flexible and 91F seems to be the most fire-arm focused of the three positions. Anyone have any info on these kinds of jobs?
should I go into 35L or 35M, or should I go into an infantry unit?
Ive always wanted to be a soldier, but everyone and their grandmother (including some recruiters) have told me infantry isnt all its cracked up to be. What is the day to day life like for a 35L or M, compared to that of a infantry soldier? Would I still qualify for SF or ranger selection or do they mainly focus on taking the 11b and 11x candidates
so when I go to the recruter, sould I say that I know how shitty being a nuke is from the internet, or will it fuck me over?
Luis Carter
infantry ISNT all it's cracked up to be. cant speak for 35l or 35m never worked with them but i would bet a month's paycheck it's better than the day to day life of a grunt.
John Richardson
Saying "I read ___ on the internet" is generally a bad idea, I would just tell them that you've researched nuke life and don't think that you would be a good fit for it
Nicholas Carter
you get job stuff at meps for navy and they may say "oh sorry only thing open atm is nuke" if they're being really douchey, in which case you just say you're not doing that and you'll return later. if your recruiter mentions nuke, just say you're not doing that because you're not interested, even with the bonuses.
Alexander Edwards
Go marines, they have one of the better gunsmith career fields and outlook. Army, is a good second choice, since you can earn a gunsmith certification through an affiliated college program during AIT. Airforce would be third, because they have the funding to send you to professional development training, but zero guarantee you get this job. Navy would be last, only because GM does so many different things, so you wont ever be doing "gunsmithing" longer than a couple of years at most.
Michael Foster
am I going to have a social life while on base >24 >no GF >most of my high school friends moved away >nothing left in this town besides drug addicts and waitresses, most of whom have already popped out kids
To cheer myself up I went to a sex club in the city and it blew my fucking mind. I seriously debated joining the military and living a life of partying, but there are no jobs where I live and my commitment to serve overcame me. Is there any night life on base besides getting drunk in the barracks? Are the stories of the woman in the military being crazy true? I just want some friends and a potential wife. Im so horny and lonely
what is the day to day life of a grunt like? I have been leaning towards infantry for months against my better judgment but I cant shake the feeling that I want it
Wyatt Davis
>go marines wrong. you don't pick your MOS. a friend's brother went to the marines with the intent to be an armorer like his uncle only to find out that particular contract code applied to all kinds of random shit. like LAV crewman lol. he made the dumb choice of being a grunt instead.
Go 35L, you will do way more practical humint than 35M ever will, plus you get to live a non army relaxed life style (especially if you are doing agent shit).
Go infantry if you really want to do infantry. Its only 2-3 years, and you arent going to experience infantry life and culture anywhere else in the army. Even if youre in regiment as a 35M or 35L, youre not gonna be doing the same shit as infantry dudes.
Easton Cook
you'll wake up and pt then probably do some bullshit work throughout the day if you're not training. barracks shenanigans are hellish (unless you're into that but most aren't) your time is not valued by anyone in your command so it will be wasted every single day you're goign to clean stuff that was clean hours ago for a few hours more oh and you're not going to shoot anybody anytime soon I'd wager, but you never know.
it has its ups, obviously. but they're 1% of the time. go outside, dig a 5 foot hole in teh ground with a shitty shovel. sit in that hole for a few hours, no sleeping. you need to fill it up when you're done. bonus point for rain.
when you get back you can't chill out, you need to immediately clean your gear and then when you think you're done, clean it again because you're not done. Yes it was clean before but no it wasn't clean.
Daniel Edwards
I know enough about myself to know I'm not the type to fit in in the Marines. I think Army would be good since I know they're in need of people and they have good benefits I hear. I'm 24 and realizing that my writing and retail experience isn't going to men jack shit in a few years, and I figure the military would be an excellent way to learn an actual trade in a field I'm interested in.
Dylan Price
You literally get a paycheck every 15 days, have almost every night and weekend off to do whatever the fuck you want, and there will always be people within shouting distance to go hang out and drink with.
Nicholas Howard
this tbhwy desu. if I were young again I'd do infantry for one enlistment, then reclass to intel. or maybe try for helo flight school. though I think if I did infantry first, as a young man, I might have been a mega-asshole to anyone ever after. partly because I'd have been mad about how good they had it.
Owen Sanders
my 12 months at AIT were fun as fuck.
Liam Lewis
>128 on dlab >94 on edpt
At the meps hotel now : - )
Christian Morgan
based, hope you like korean food
Lincoln Ramirez
Good shit user, what jobs are you looking at?
Juan King
128 is stellar, though i don't think it matters beyond hitting the language categories. gj man assuming you wanna be a linguist n all
Ryan Gonzalez
could I >enlist as an e4 and go 35L >try out for the rangers or SF >pass >reclass as something else if I get bored with 35L
Also, what makes 35L "better" then 35M. Ive been debating between these two and cant decide
Camden Adams
Well /meg/, the time has come to say good-bye.
After months of training and studying, getting into fantastic shape so I can join the Marines like every other male in my family has, my dumb-ass goes and breaks his leg in a freak accident while skiing. Long story short, my left lower leg is held together with a lattice of pins, screws, plates and rods and will be about an inch shorter than my right. The first surgeon I spoke to flat-out told me that he would not feel comfortable repairing my leg. The surgeon who ended up doing the procedure told me that, had the break been a little different one way or the other, I could have lost the leg outright.
My recruiter seemed genuinely gutted but was also pretty frank when he pointed out that "some things you just can't get a waiver for."
Guess it's time to start buckling down and hitting the books. Now I need to get a degree.
Adam Rodriguez
Didnt say you get to pick the job, just saying they have the best gunsmiths.
What do you mean by good benefits? Benefits are equal across the branches.
Also, do it. Go 91F, get your gunsmith credentials, on your own time get some experience with CAD and CNC shit, then when you get out you can put on your resume that you have 3-4 years of gunsmithing experience on all types of shit and experience using programs and shit. Go on indeed or usajobs and look up the requirements for armorers and gunsmiths, and obtain all that shit while youre in. When you do eventually get out, if you wanted, you can attend a prestigious gunsmith program over at trinidad in colorado or lassen in california, if you want to learn old school techniques like stock work and different styles of rust bluing..
Isaiah Sanchez
If I try to join the Marines as an officer with asthma what are the chances of them discovering it without telling them. Also I'm an American citizen but I was born and bred in Ireland (Have two passports) will this create complications?
you did your part. shit happens. this isn't really a set back as far as your life goes because the marine corps seldom puts you ahead career-wise vs just getting a degree. you can shoot and larp on your own time.
Wyatt Howard
Obviously but youre gonna hurt their fee fees and theyre gonna shutdown on you. Have you never spoken to a recruiter before? Dont mention NUKE unless your recruiter does. But def tell recruiter you want GSE.
Jacob King
idk about the irish shit but they won't know you have asthma if you don't show signs of having asthma can you go run for like 5 miles without breaking out into an asthma attack in good and bad weather?
Jordan Gonzalez
Sorry to hear that dude
Logan Kelly
No. 35L may have time-in-service requirements that aren't on the Army site. talk to a career counselor.
My understanding is you need to go into the MOS from another MOS. It's not something you can come off the street into. Also, be mindful the in-out calls for your MOS may keep you from reclassing; the Army may need you in the MOS you asked for in the first place more than it needs a new 35L.
Jaxon Russell
>want to be a Marine officer >begins career by lying
And probably not, as long as you aren't trying to get a TS clearance.
Jayden Davis
Help this idiot out
Jeremiah Bell
No faggot obviously you made that thread.
Adam Perez
Hey thanks for the encouragement user. I used to think joining the military was a waste of time and that college was the responsible thing to do. Now I have half a music theory degree and really wished I had joined sooner. People will always need guns so I figure it's a pretty secure field to get into.
Brandon Long
If I'm doing a form 368 to separate from the AF reserves to switch to AF AD. Do i need to go back to MEPS or retake the ASVAB?
Luke Russell
35L used to be In service only but it was made Entry available last year.
Andrew Morgan
Linguist sounds comfy, but Im also interested in the cyber and sci jobs that edpt opens up.
Basically the plan is just to sign up for whatever jobs require higj asvabs and then end up getting linguist, because obviously.
Hopefully I get something interesting like korean or chinese or russian instead of pashto or urdu.
Charles Torres
gunsmithing is not a very lucrative career, you know? not saying don't follow your dream but it's not like an engineer or hvac guy. it's a relatively niche market.
Wyatt Lewis
Yeah I can handle PT and all that like I play sports and work out it's just there on paper
Sebastian Gomez
350F here.
Yes, you can, but I doubt you will get bored. If you end up wanting more excitement just attach to an SF group, so they can send you out to make friends with the local warlords.
35L does everything from special agent suit wearing duties where you go and prevent espionage bullshit. You can do polygraph duties. You can do attache duties. You can attach to regiment, you can attach to group, you can attach to delta, etc. Deployed you mostly do humint, making contacts, going out and about gathering intel, etc. TLDR they do a fucking lot.
I like to describe their duties as what you imagine 35M does, but actually does it.
35M is very minimal in their humint. You have to be a warrant to essentially do any interrogations, which are done by 35L anyways. The majority of "interrogations" are actually screening interviews of locals reporting shit. IF any info of interest comes up, it immediately gets handed off, to more than likely a 35L.
35M is great, if you specifically want to be translator and go out with line units or regiment(if you get in there).
35L USED to be only open to E4(P) and E5 as a reclass option. Now its open entry. There is no reason not to go for it over 35M, especially since 35L get sent to the most trainings, and have the most relaxed lifestyle (you wear civies the majority of your career).
Just to give you an example of how 35L fits into things service wide. Army >31D CID agents, handle LE shit >35L CI agents, handle CI shit Navy >NCIS agents cover both LE and CI duties Air Force >OSI agents cover both LE and CI duties
Matthew White
if it aint on the marine corps' paper they won't know. you better legit not have asthma or you're a real asshole in case that shit flares up when it matters.
Jayden Diaz
Today my recruiter told me I should practice rucking, what boots would Jow Forums recommend and how much weight should I start off with?
Also, what's the deal with sole inserts for shoes in bootcamp(I have flat feet), can I take my own or do I have to have to get them onsite?
It's not lying if it doesn't affect my performance
Luke Peterson
No it's really not an issue at all, worried about red tape though
Julian James
Lying is a crucial skill as a member of the armed forces.
Gavin Evans
>heart condition I had when I was 4 never officially went away >I havent ever felt it slow me down or become a problem in over 10 years >still in my medical history >cant get a waiver >dream of joing the Army since I was 10 years old fell apart in front of me
Not gonna lie, spent some time thinking about ending my life. Still do occasionally but its gotten better. I dont know if knowing the whole time about my condition (I legit forgot about it) would have made it better because I wouldnt have been blindsided. Im gonna use my freedom now to stay in shape and fuck a ton of escorts
Jaxon Morgan
Out of curiosity, how did the DLAB process go? Did you take it after job selection or before? I got MEPS clearance and ASVAB done for the Reserves before deciding to switch to active duty enlistment. I know I have to go back to MEPS to do job selection, just wondering if my recruiter will make me take the DLAB before that
Nicholas Kelly
350F here.
They make you (or should make you) renounce your dual citizenship, since being solely a US citizen is a requirement to have a secret clearance or higher. Sometimes it slips pass them and they grant it to you without renouncement, but thats only a 10% chance, and I only ever reallly see that mistake happen in the AF.
If you have asthma, work on your stamina and actually get capable enough to pass a PT test or ruck for an hour. If you can make it without dying, you should be good to go to fake it til you make it.
Good luck.
John Jackson
why would your recruiter say this? what job are you going for?
Blake Morales
check these digits
Asher Jenkins
ahahahahaha so close yet so far nice try user but definitely fuck off
No prob user, I do recommend that you switch to guard/reserves immediately after you finish your contract to maintain your clearance so you can pick up contracting gigs as an armorer overseas. Also, its a good way to snag a permanent federal job doing gunsmithing/armorer, which is higher paying than local gun shop work, plus it gives you a chance to snag openings when the old gunsmith dudes at quantico die off.
Brody Bailey
Cringe
Carter Gomez
I was (and still might) just say fuck it and go infantry but from what ive read they dont even do much more then their usual training and sweeping barracks these days. I really think I have it in me to make it to the 75th, but I dont want to pass up a cool MOS either that could also get me to them anyway. does 35L get to do any action, like door kicking or operator jobs if I get to attach to an SF unit or the 75th? I want to do the special agent counter espionage stuff, but I I want to get my hands dirty from time to time. Mainly, I just dont want to to sit in an office making power points 24/7. And what about living arrangements, am I living in the barracks like any other MOS, or can I live on my own if I have enough rank
Ryan Green
i'm reclassing 92A
Kayden Lee
>when the old gunsmith dudes at quantico die off. i think you mean when they go to guard heaven's scenes
Jose Cook
I took it before, I took it earlier today and am at the hotel for meps right now. So some tight schedualing.
Literally the hardest test Ive ever taken by the way. Good luck.
Isaac Hughes
No, you wont be able to take inserts with you. Just make sure to keep the foot area laces loose and the ankle area tight.
>t. flatfoot
Dont practice rucking. invest in good running shoes, or cheap out and get asics running shoes with gel. If youre gonna practice rucking anyways, throw a 25lbs max weight in a backpack, and walk at a normal pace with good posture. Start off slow, and dont bother adding weight, since we dont want you to get injuries.
Adrian Morales
Will I be able to find a hidden room or something to fap to my loli kemono hentai in peace? also can I get away with calling my pals nigger?
>hardest test you don't really "fail" per se. but it is a very unique test. i assume it's a decent indicator of how "smart" someone is, regarding problem solving too but that's just me.
Blake Williams
>flat feet Then you arent joining the military familam.
Justin Murphy
Hardest test as in a test I felt challenged on, not a test that was hard to pass.
Although the proctor lady blabbing over the tape didnt help much.
Ian Moore
I had heard that renouncing citizenship may be the case and to be honest I'm willing to do it. I can pass the PT test no problem working towards the max score at the moment.
Thanks for the insight and advice really appreciate it.
