I'm having the same problems right now. I am also looking at this Bushnell ar optic 1-4x on Brownells that's a really good deal but the rectile is literally retarded on it. Frankly the strike eagle rectile isn't great either, I like the Leupold the best but it's 1.5x and doesn't illuminate...

How well do the 40 round pmags work? Heard mixed things in the past but want to buy some for carbine matches

so far I havent had any problems with pmag 40s, have had issues with surefire 60's in the past though. I want to check out the stag arms USGI 40 rounders though.

All rounds will eventually wear out a barrel. Bimetal jacketed .223 will wear a barrel out faster than copper jacketed .223 will, but barrels are cheap and easy to replace. The money you save from shooting garbage ammo will more than pay for a new barrel. That said, I shoot brass anyway.

Honestly, 1:7 is fine for 55gr. You have read that 1:9 is 'optimized' for 55gr and 1:7 is not, but I dont think you know what that means

What zero should I go with for the red dot? Originally had it at 25 yards but it's just much of an arc for my taste out to 100.
