Claw mount scope rings vs buying a PTR with a rail already welded to the receiver and attaching a scope to that?

Is there much of a drawback to the claw mounts?

y?

It's ejection is forceful, forceful enough to dent brass on the way out. Common joke about it is you are facing two opponents, you have a G3 with a single shot, who do you shoot? Answer: shoot the guy on the left, the spent brass will kill the guy on the right.

goddamnit OP you made my favorite thread

kek. im retarded but does more forceful ejection = less muzzle velocity since more energy is transferred to slinging brass?

It's almost entirely residual gas pressure. By the time the bolt unlocks, the bullet has left the barrel.

The claw mounts are expensive and I've seen some people complain of fitment issues on the PTR. You'll also need a cheekriser unless you want a chinweld. I use an AMD Recon mount on my PTR and it has a decent cheekweld.

Having said that if your going for an authentic Cold War look their the way to go.
