So go after those donor classes, we need to make it illegal for big corporations to pay politicians in any way, shape, or form. Walmart isn't a person, why should they be allowed to pay thousands of lobbyists to pester politicians until Walmart has more rights than any American citizen?
We need to vote with morals and vote with our wallets. Politicians will stop giving breaks to these big corporations when they realize that its career suicide.
My local state has a dark store issue, the summary is that big businesses including Walmart, Lowes, Menards, Meijer, etc, went to the state tax tribunal that, because their empty stores that went out of business have deed restrictions that make the property worth less, that their fully operational stores should be taxed at a lower value. The tax tribunal agreed, and all the local municipalities had to pay back that tax money to the stores. Did mom and pop stores benefit off this? No. All it did was help the big stores, the ones already raking in tons of money.

The reality of the matter is, prosecuters pretty much everywhere lack the manpower to actually take anywhere near all of the crimes committed in their jurisdiction to trial. So they plea bargain vast numbers of crimes, many of them serious. If not criminally charging impoverished petty thieves means fewer violent felons get off with misdemeanor charges, that's a net win for society.
