Ok, what's there to say?

Lol they just copied the Mauser like the chinks do and called it a Springfield.

Meme rifle is meme
1917 or bust

>Talking about American trash
>Talking about American trash that copied the Mauser and got taken to court

Yikes.

Does anyone have one? What's it like? Two World Wars plus limited use in Korea and 'Nam?

>got taken to court
>2 companies from different countries
Under whose jurisdiction senpai? They didn't have globohomo back then

Its just like a mauser

But I'm not an American

It's basically a worse looking Mauser. Go with an Enfield if you want a better looking Mauser.

Springfield 1903 prototypes were directly influenced by the Spanish contract Mauser 1890, 1892, and 1893 rifles and carbines used in the Cuban War.

US paid Mauser royalties;

467180 , Shell Extractor 20 cents per arm
477671, Shell Extractor & Collar 5cents per each arm.
482376, Clips, (called cartridge holder for magazine guns) 50 cents per thousand clips
527869, Oct, 1894 , Magazine 25 Cents per each arm.
547932, Clip (called cartridge pack) 50 cents per thousand clips.
547933, Safety, covered by 590271
590271, Sept, 1897 25 cents per each arm

>And you call yourselves Americans?
no, i'm a human.

Funny how nobody ever remembers Mauser being sued for infringement by Lee.
Borchardt and Mauser's cousin/brother? both worked under Lee during development of the Lee bolt action and magazines.
Nobody also ever mentions that Mauser never even saw the money from the US. It was a patent holding company that sued America, one of the first patent trolls. Several of the patents had prior art in America and were invalid but it was simply easier to pay them than fight.

It's a mauser with a better rear sight and a worse front sight chambered in a terrible combat but GOAT sporting round.

They blow up in your face so fuck springfield

Nice rifle but overpriced af for what it is and I'm not even a poorfag. I'll stick with my 7.7 arisaka until the cost comes down.

All inferior to the SMLE. Fite me.

smle is a masterpiece but I have yet to get one :(

They're fun as fuck, but thank boomers for the ridiculous prices on them.
>tfw when I bought my mauser I paid 89$ for a rifle, bayonet, and 100 rounds of 8mm ammo.

03a3? It's fucking awesome. Bought one this past fall, really likes 165 grn corelokt. It ranks second on my arsenal of surp.

Few on Jow Forums can afford a rifle that now sells for more than $400, and those who can are busy putting together gucci ARs and calling themselves gunsmiths.

Literally better than all the other wwi rifles. Though, you posted the 03A3, I prefer the 03 and its sights.

Ok, heres some fucking deep ass 1903 discussion are you ready?

1917 is better

Why Jow Forums talks about mausers and nagants is because you can find them in all most any store. Good luck finding 1903.

Damn right. Too bad they all got sporterized when they got surplussed.

Also based on mauser action

If you're gonna bring up superior American guns at least post the one that counts

lmao @ delusional basement nazis

International patent and copyright treaties have been in place for a loooong time.

Boomers already jerk them off enough. Mosins are the zoomer’s Springfield.

Probably because boomers overpriced It like all other milsurp.

Not paying 1100 dollars for a 1903

The Springfield is literally just a Mauser with a funny cocking piece.

It's just not as interesting a gun as either of the others. Nuggets and Mausers sit at the center of epic battles and harrowing tales.

03 is a great rifle, but it just doesn't have the historical significance. We don't talk about Nuggets, Mausers, Enfield and Springfield '03. We talk about Nuggets Mausers, Enfield and "US Rifle Cal .30, M1".

I believe I have a non sporterized kne that's a heirloom. I don't know much about the rifle to be honest.

It breaks my heart when I see a long arm like an American Enfield but the last owner clearly didn't give a shit and either sporterized the fucker or didn't take care of it and now the barrel is a pitted sewer pipe. Fucking boomers

My great grandfather was given it by the union armory, when the Pinkertons and Mafia were killing organizers. It came to him still in a crate covered in cosmoline in early 1919. The Eddystone factory was very very close to where we lived, so that's where it was produced. It's pretty much just a standard issue M1917 and it's in absolute perfect condition.

I'm not american.

Also I have not have the pleasure of handling a 1903.

any pics user?

I love my 1903. This fall I'm going to try to take a deer with this thing. Straight up marching into the woods with an unsporterized, unscoped Springfield and sending .30-06 into a buck's heart like god intended.
You can get a great one for under $800. You just have to look around.

Because 90% of Jow Forums doesn't own, any guns, let alone guns that costs more than a weeks pay.

Mauser never took anyone to court. A deal and royalties were paid and everyone was happy. Then DWM tried saying they were owed money for spitzer bullets, but was shot down (the French beat them to it anyways). However during WW1 the U.S. seized the patents anyways, which was illegal and were fined after the war.

they don't in their fuher fan fiction

Springfield 1903 is nice and all, but...
M1917 Enfield beats it when it comes to aesthetics any day of the week.
