Can anyone explain to me how USAF fighter pilot training works? Whats the selection process? how intelligent do you have to be in order to fly fighters? If you barely passed math all the way until highschool graduation will the Airforce even consider you for OCS (or OTS because the airforce has to be special)?

navy here what the fuck is going on

Serious question is there ANY chance of seeing combat?
Rangers? SEALs? SF?

NO VAGUE QUESTIONS YOU PETER PUFFER!!!

SEALs greenies marsoc and higher rangers are a joke

People thinking about the Air Force, read below. These are the current protocols for pretty much every USAF recruiting command right now.

1. You MUST list an open aptitude area on your dream sheet. This does not include the Administrative aptitude.
2. You must list at least 10 specific jobs that you want. At least 5 of these jobs must be from a list that your recruiter will give you. This list contains the most in-demand AFSCs at the time that you begin your recruiting process.
3. Minimally qualified applicants may only list jobs from the “In-Demand AFSCs” list that their recruiters give them.
4. Airmen are not needed in medical AFSCs. If you put down medical jobs and do not have certifications in those fields, you have an almost non-existent chance of reserving one of those jobs.
5. If you were allowed to enlist with ANY waiver, you will only be allowed to list jobs from the electrical or mechanical aptitude areas, or the “In-Demand AFSCs” list.
6. If you are offered a job (or the open aptitude area) that was on your dream sheet, you CAN NOT refuse it and wait until a different job becomes available. Refusing to take a job will now result in immediate discharge from DEP.

you sound like the type of guy to lick windows as a hobby

>everybody but AFSOC is a joke
Please explain
Also what is a "higher ranger"?

They're a joke huh? You probably couldn't make it through pre RASP you fucking bitch

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

This is coming straight out of my ass, but you will most likely be competing for a slot with nerds who got straight A's in aerospace engineering or lawyer's kids who sailed through some other STEM degree because they didn't have to get a job in undergrad. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's unlikely that you'd be selected with a demonstrated weakness in math when there's a bunch of other candidates who excelled.

I served 11 years killing people in some of the most beautiful countries on Earth. LOVED IT! You nor any mother fucker that walks this Earth scares Me. I own 2 Tactical/Analytical combat survival facilities and Now 4, Class3 certification ONLY gun shops. I shoot with a 98.4% accuracy rate and a 96.6% UNDERFIRE accuracy rate. I don't think I can put a bullet through You or anyone else's heart at better than 750 yards! I fucking know it because I've done it. I get paid very large amounts to teach cowards skills They DO NOT have the balls to ever use. Though some are very efficient with firearms. Like Yourself They do not have what it takes to kill a human being and will most likely die on Their knee's begging. Again like You. I don't know nor do I care what Your life was like. I killed My 1st human being at 14 years old with a .410 double barrel shotgun. Broke in Grandma's while Me and My sisters were there. The first shot knocked the piece of filth out of his right shoe, I then leveled the barrel at his head While He was begging and blew his fucking head completely off. Sherriff patted Me on the back and said good job and I still have the civil service award. I have in my soon to be 46 years killed roughly 198 human beings. I do not have the slightest bit of remorse, compassion, guilt or regrets for Their deaths. They were My enemy and had that coming to them. The only reason I am not killing for the government RIGHT NOW! is the private sector pays a shitload better and I get to chose My enemies, Not someone choosing Them for Me. The American people I believed I was fighting for do not exist! You are all worthless, spoiled, self-center pieces of filth that would sell Your own children into kiddy porn for free airtime and data for Your phones. You do nothing but piss moan and whine about Your rights and wants, While the people that fought and sacrificed all for those rights are shit on daily( VETERANS)!

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in Red flag, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret Airstrikes on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in dogfighting and I’m the top Fighter Pilot in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of AWACS across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, bandit. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my 20mm cannon. Not only am I extensively trained in Going in for guns, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Air Force and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. That's pretty rough. So if I have a 98 ASVAB and some college, but need a waiver for depression in high school, do I have pretty much no chance of getting intel?

Does anyone know anything about the whole "National Call to Service" program? I know you do 2 years AD and the rest as a reservist, but I haven't heard of anyone actually getting a contract for it.

The flight chief for your recruiting division can approve "rare and unique circumstances", so if you were going in for 1N3X1 (Crypto Linguist, which is an almost impossibly hard AFSC for the Air Force to fill) then they might approve it. That's about it though. Like I said in the previous thread, almost everyone goes in wanting an intel job and they do not have a hard time filling those slots at all. Recruiting commands get kicked select intel contracts once in a blue moon, and they are usually filled within milliseconds of being dropped because someone else was lined up for it.
Check with your local recruiter though. Ask them for their list of Dream Sheet Rules or AFSC Listing Requirements or whatever they call it in your area.

Good to know, thanks

On my journey to look like the oldest E-4 in my unit.

How do I get a shaving waiver as quickly as possible?

And what's the longest I can remain an E-4 before the Air Force considers kicking me out?

Attached: air force goblino la creatura.jpg (1009x1211, 733K)

You will not be given a shaving waiver unless you get razor bumps, which almost exclusively happens to black people
The high year of tenure (aka max time you can stay in without being promoted) for Senior Airmen is 10 years.

You don’t know how to read very well do you?

yes my platoon i used to be in in regiment has been a few firefights withing the last 2 months

Why does buds issue boots that are not on the approved list for NWU IIIs?

Damn, if that is the case. Am i better off joining the army if i want to go medical? I would joinin 2020.

You aren't graduating BUD/S, so boots you are going to return anyway won't be inspected in the operational Navy. No need to worry.

t. I have friends from college who are Navy and Air Force fighter pilots. I work in the aviation industry myself (not a professional pilot though).

For the Air Force, to be competitive (no matter what your commissioning source is) you should have a good undergrad GPA and flying hours. Even better if you already have your private pilots license. Those are the two biggest criteria. Being a pilot, military or civilian, doesn’t require complex math. You just need to prove that you’re not a brainlet. A good college track record in any major and doing decent on the various standardized tests you’ll take when applying to become an officer and potential aviator will suffice.

Once you get orders to flight school, you’re on the same playing field as your other trainees. Getting selected to train for fighters or bombers out of primary flight training is based entirely off of your performance in flight school and nothing else.

There is anecdotal evidence that you have to display a certain amount of aggressiveness/“gung-ho” personality during training. I can’t verify this, but it makes sense. You should be comfortable with the idea of killing people if you’re going to fly a combat aircraft. Otherwise there’s plenty of tankers and cargo planes that pilots.

that need pilots**

alright /meg/, im in a difficult position, somewhat. im in army DEP, and now im having second thoughts. two reasons for this. one: the whole reason i wanted to be in the army, to go 11x airborne, is not possible for me now. i dont meet medical requirements.
two: i instead chose a job that requires a TS clearance at MEPs and im now not so sure i'll get that clearance. i dont blame my recruiter, they did tell me not to admit to anything i necessarily didn't have to, but that was before i was considering a TS clearance job. now the investigation might find i had a misdemeanor charge sealed/expunged a few years back and that is in conflict with what i wrote down at MEPs. my ship date is May 12. im considering a DEP seperation and going to the Navy. thoughts?

Considering the Air Force is tightening down on their recruitment. If i go Army, i want to go Rangers. But i also want to fuck bitches. What should i do?

What about reservists who want to switch to AD? Are we able to pick any of the critical AFSCs? Or do we have to stick with what we have.

If you want to do SF stuff join SF go SEALs or Marsoc or literally anything but army

>what should i do
You'll be enlisted, just find the nearest fat chicks at the local off-post bars.

Yes to all, but Rangers are getting the most.
Ignore , at least until he posts his qualifications.

>t. shitter ona bote
Big Army is gay, true enough, but the other branches are somehow gayer. Go SOF in any branch to avoid most of the gay but some will always creep through.

>rangers are getting the most
Rangers haven’t done shit In 8 years. Stop recruiting people into your shithole branch just because you’re pissed that you fell for the meme.

SEALs have near zero gay maraud has a fair amount of gay and rangers are basically still big army.

Fuck, MARSOC*

Rangers are doing shit right now you retard

>Considering the Air Force is tightening down on their recruitment.
depends on the job

To anyone trying to join the army- do t. Let the retards and niggers do that miserable job and apply yourselves to a branch that actually cares about you.

Dont* phone poster here

I've talked with big army guys and rangers and trust me, big army gets the weenie much, MUCH harder.

Yes, only because Army guarantees MOS.

But I’d recommend getting your EMT-B, spending some time on an ambulance, and maybe a year or two of community college (towards an AS degree in Paramedicine) before enlisting in Medical. The Army can wait. See if you like EMS first.

no branch cares about a single soldier/seaman/airman/marine.
That comes down to individual units.

Do you know if there's been an increased need in space operations enlisted given the whole Space Force thing, or are most Space Command units waiting until things settle down to get more personnel?

Just because Trump says something on the news, doesn't mean it's happening.
Currently the only career fields the USAF is pushing extremely hard is everything under AFSOC.

TACP
CCT
PJ
SOST
Special Missions Aviation
And their new career field of Special Reconnaissance

weirdest phenomenon i see on here and irl is big army infantry trying to make batt out to be nothing as if it makes themselves cooler. marines do this too

>And their new career field of Special Reconnaissance
Which is just rebranded SOWT.

I've never been to buds, I have buds duds in my a school and their boots are much lighter and breathable. They got to keep them and continue to wear them.

Crabs in a bucket

Their enlistment could be described as a "wet fart" and now, in their inability to cope, they want to share their nothing experience with everyone else.

Attached: Crabs in a Bucket.jpg (480x360, 31K)

>SOST

Is that new? Sounds cool but incredibly niche. Suppose there’s no equivalent to it in the other branches.

Is SOWT still a thing? That always sounded like a retarded job any SOF soldier with a backpack full of antennae could do.

Yup

>rangers are still basically big army
Someone screen cap this

>infantry with high hopes ignoring actual knowledge
Screen cap it go ahead when you make it and still want to die I’ll be waiting

Special Operations Surgical Teams
Basically Spec Ops doctors. It is not an entry level career.

>Is SOWT still a thing?
It's now Special Recon

Idk about airborne, but Marine line infantry unironically believe they’re on the same tier as Rangers.

post proofs

marine cope is hilarious

i have a literal reservist buddy from high school who thinks like this

Like I said, niche. Leave it to the Air Force to give a hospital trauma team SOF training.

(Not doubting its effective, just think it’s weird the Air Force were the first to implement it officially after 20 years of SOF-intensive warfare)

former 3/75 here, hes not wrong youll want to hate your life if you make it because private hazing sucks ass and even after its super stressful, but you will do way cooler stuff than anyone in the big army and they will hate you for it

>be bright eyed high school kid
>join army, 11x option 40
>break bone at pre rasp, don't get to class up, dropped
>end up in the glorious land of armored infantry
>3 years later am an anxious mess
>unit actively discourages going to a doctor for any reason so can't claim anything at va because it was never documented
>hearing loss
>exploded knees
>destroyed spine and back
>pray for a catastrophic injury to just send me to a med board every day
>only deployments were to poland and korea, no chance of touching a cib, just stupid training rotations
>unit denies every request for special skill schools or selections because they're already hemorrhaging people
>still have a year and a half left
please kill me

Well, Marines ARE brainlet slave people who would gladly jump out of airplanes and fast rope from helicopters.

They probably could do what Rangers do...albeit with a lot more casualties.

tell them to fuck themselves and report it all to the medics, in 5 years your faggot team leader wont matter but your VA rating will

Just curious...what causes the average guy to break a bone in any kind of infantry training? Obstacle course? Falling off a cliff while wearing a pack?

I think the Army just used their SF medics and their flight medics to do the same thing but it's pretty cool that the AF has actually introduced SOF doctors

>who would gladly jump out of airplanes and fast rope from helicopters.
They can do that in boot camp/SOI/MCT. And then can cope with the fact that they will never get to do that operationally.

many such cases

obstacle course, they have one across the street from rasp/prerasp barracks that they let people try out on weekends or after duty hours, I think in actual rasp they use it at some point for pt. I dropped from the fast ladder instead of just lowering myself and fell the wrong way & screwed up my ankle bone.

think about it this way, nothing you do in the military matters when you get out except having an honorable discharge and what injuries you have documented for VA purposes

Only honest guy in this fucking board.
It sucks hard the military isn’t fun the people that do cool guy shit love the pain and shit

>looked them up
>Majors and Lt Colonels

Are these the highest ranking operators who actually get to do operational jobs?

Attached: 170502-F-AF000-002.jpg (780x523, 80K)

Armyfag here. Its only certain jobs.

To be a doc in the military you auto start out as O3 so yes

they're not so much operators as very experienced medical staff who have the training and support to do their jobs during special ops. most surgeons in the military are higher ranked officers.

probably
airforcespecialtactics.af.mil/Who-We-Are/Special-Operations-Surgical-Teams/

No. Haven’t you seen the last ship? O6’s go to combat.

I am thinking of giving the marines a shot. IS it better then the army?

WHAT JOB?

no.

Yes but which mos

I'm think USMC F-35 pilot vs US Army finance specialist

Or US Army 18X vs USMC Waterdog.

Hard choices. Any suggestions?

no its all memes and tv commercials dont do it you retard

marines all hate the marines but just dont admit it to outsiders to save face from being bamboozled

0311 or 0341
But I am most likely going for infantry.

If you want to be a pilot go marines if you want to be SF go navy

Marine grunt is a million miles better than army grunt

yikes

lmfao

yeah right lmao

both are ass but at least i know army grunts who have got CIBs in the last year, no chance of a marine grunt seeing combat any time soon

This. It's the same dumb shit in either branch, but at least the Marines have a good marketing team.

who here /1ID/

Attached: 1497045938920.jpg (1000x861, 151K)

If you're joining the military because you think it will make you a pussy magnet;

>if you didnt have game before, you wont have game when you're in.
>the areas around the base will be used to military people so it holds no mystique (might work better back home when you go on leave)
>tinder matches will mostly be either prostitutes trying to get you to spend your cash on them by the hour, or fat chicks that will ghost in a few days at best.

The only guys who pull women of substance are the officers.

Well looks like I'm going the officer route. Doing 2 years at community college and then switching to a state school for computer science with the hopes to land a lock down in being an officer. Does anyone have advice for commissioning into the service through rotc? I'm thinking army or air force.

>army seeing combat more than marines
I’m not even a marine but fuck dude come on.

This is all true

It does help at home and then after you get out though so its a little positive
