Because it's the M3 Grease Gun.

It’s not you’re just a contrarian hipster faggot like half this board

You need to slam your penis in a car door.

Don't get it. Why would Aussie put a magazine housing upside?

the magazine is right but the rest of the gun is upside down

That's a funny way of saying type 100/44

so it feeds correctly in the southern hemisphere

That’s not very nice user

The Owen gun has merit and even if it's not the best as he claims, it is at the very least one of the best.
Grease Gun is cheaper and lighter, but the Owen has better ergonomics and is very reliable in adverse conditions. It was well liked by its users including by a few of our soldiers that got to try it.

Strategically: the grease gun
Tactically: the m31 suomi

gravity fed mag

Gravity assisted. It had a spring and can fire upside down, gravity just helps feed and keep crap out of the magazine.
Lolwut. It was unreliable and in a shit cartridge.

Strategically: owen gun
Tactically: owen gun

type 100/40 was shit and unreliable
type 100/44 was bretty decent except for the round

Yeah true but it's not competing for bretty decent, its competing for best.

:^)

Wrong.

you cheeky fuckers

These guns were used against the Japanese, Koreans, Malayana, Borneo, Indonesian and Vietnamese.
Gradually the Aussies replaced it with the M16. Fun fact after Vietnam until the late 80s the Australian Army used the SLR as their main infantry rifle and only used M16s in certain roles.

Fuck, she's sexy.

You forgot this boi.

Sten is great for what it is. A cheap emergency stopgap that you can crank out in the millions in everything from factories to backyard workshops.
But it's not particularly reliable or accurate or durable. For the soldier, almost any SMG would have been a better option.
The only reason it's loved instead of reviled is because it's better than no SMG at all, which was the actual option they were facing.

No love for the PPSH-41?

Sudaev PPS-43.
Better than PPSH-41 (on official trials)
Better than MP-40

Easy to manufacture, like Sten
Reliable.

But that fire rate and drum mag though..

>ugliest smg is ultimately most useful
I know you're right but it pains me every time. And no don't try and sell me on it, the grease gun is ugly even for a stamped bargain-bitch weapon. The sten is an ugly duckling that is charming in its ugliness. The grease gun is just this big fat bertha.
