3

no pics, not at home, but I have a small collection of 3rd gens, CHP 4006, 5906, 5926, 5946, 6904, 6906, 915, 3913 NL, 3953, and a 3954

those wood grips are ass, more ass than the original cheap plastic pieces of shit htat came with all gen 3 delrin and xenoy grips...

Still i have a 6906 that was easily replaced by a g19, better ergos weight capacity size disassembly, so all aspects that make a gun better.

I also have a 4506 another piece of shit i regret buying only got it for aesthetics, again my 1911 is better in every aspect.

I swear to god if they weren't sexy as fuck no one would buy them....

all suffer from the same issues, the grip is shit in all but the 39 series which is still thick as other companies double stacks.

Oh they have good Da/Sa triggers... but da/sa sucks so idk if that is any good

So your that abusive boyfriend

>all suffer from the same issues
Which are the size and capacity?

4516, also have a 4006 TSW CHP. I want a 5606 but that’s for much later.

>5926
Did you have to sell the soul of your first born for it? Nowadays it's like searching for the holy grail

There were some that came in recently as trade ins from overseas. I almost bought one myself but import marks turn me off.

The one good thing to come out of cali

Also, where they sold them?

They are only available on gunbroker right now

>gunbroker
got mine from Armslist for $500
think you made the same comment in anothe Smith thread, snagged it from AIM

Aim only has 6904s now

Saw one on gunbroker but was after i got op's photo

Not only that, weight, ergos, dubious durability of aluminium frames after high round counts, shit dissasembly, no more support, da/sa slide mounted ,plastic grips that are the inly thing preventing keeping the grip spring in place, which if by any chance breaks renders the gun useless.

The sights are really good and they feed anything and reliability is top notch.

Okay zoomer. Nothing you listed is actually a problem.

>dubious durability of aluminium frames after high round counts
huh?

like i said i have 2, its not a problem but there are better options out there for what they are

look it up... frames crack after many roudns, maybe the recoil springs weren't changed often enough of just fatigue idk its whats out there...

The ones ending in 6 are all ss, they are indestructible

Just bought a 5906 off GB, much hype for my bang-brick. It’ll be a nice counterpart to my SW 10-5.

With the exception of the 6906 anyway, since they named that one wrong

you know whats up

good, cali is fucked, $900 for a 4006,and is this even a CHP issue? I don't see a rail or a CHP prefix

forgot link
armslist.com/posts/9683395/orange-county-handguns-for-sale--smith-wesson-4006

lol, gb has them for 400

That is definitely not a CHP issue 4006 TSW. It would have a CHP serial number prefix, black small parts and a rail, no CHP 4006s came without a rail though I think they did get some 4013s without rails for detectives or something.

I never realized how sexy stainless + wood is.

AWWWW SHIT NIGGA

>Trading a based and sexy 6906 for an unaesthetic Block 19
Sad!

They're mediocre.
At least mine got shot in anger for sure.

I want both of those so bad

>dubious durability of aluminium frames after high round counts
Because polymer is stronger than metal right? Ok retard.

Just picked mine up the other day
Finish is a little worn but other than that it’s solid.

Nice, where’d you get it from?

good enough for vic mackey good enough for me

god i want to shoot a nig some day

What model should I be searching for if I want a 9mm steel framed full size with rail? These S&W model numbers are very confusing.

are those 2nd or 1st gens? Never got my hands on one, but a local pawn shop has one or two 2nd gens with the 1911 style bushing

the only ones that had rails were labled TSW, but not all TSWs had rails, confused? and don't get me started on how many limited runss they did in the third gen series, I have a 5926 that apparently was only made from some time in 1990 until some time in 1993, with something like only 2k+ units made based on some sources.

Smith and Wesson tactical 9 usually a full size steel 9 will be a 5906

Thanks man. It's nice to have a way to filter all these now. Before I couldn't even tell if the S&W was a revolver or auto by the model name. For example a 639 should be a revolver in my head but surprise it's not!

here, I own like 10 3rd gen pistols and I still refer to this article

Thanks and upvoted.

Always necessary

Sweetsoulbro detected

i feel bad for people like you

You know the worst fucking thing about these things? They're fucking maracas when loaded. Makes me wanna do 2gun with a pair of them yelling THEY CALL ME CUBAN PETE

Fuck off hop go back to tfb tv

They are all 39-2 of varying conditions I got for cheap(ish). The third gen is a performance center 4006 shorty forty.

If you are ok with MAC, he has some on his website.

Anyone know where I can get some good checkered wood grips for a 915? I'm getting one soon and want some. Also what's a good IWB Kydex holster for it?

is this a chart for ants? can't read shit

A thing i found on the shorty forty

>The big handgun manufacturing company, then the largest in the world, held staff meetings. Monotonous and dry, they required Liebenberg’s presence, for he was director of the Performance Center. Preferring to be at his bench, he chaffed at the bureaucracy. But realizing that staff meetings lubricate the corporate machine, he sat through them.

>One day he proposed a compact version of the Model 4006, a 6906-sized .40 S&W. And the senior engineer dismissed it with an arrogant wave of his manicured hand.

>“Impossible,” he sniffed. “The peak pressure is far too high and the slide velocity is off the scale. It will never work.”

>Seething at the haughty manner with which this technocrat dismissed him, Liebenberg set to work. Calling on the totality of his experience as a pistolsmith, Liebenberg modified a frame into a compact configuration, machined a new slide, fitted the two and went to the test range. Satisfied with the result, he went to the next staff meeting cradling his creation.

>“There’s the impossible,” Liebenberg said, and slapped the first Shorty Forty on the polished wood table in front of the engineer. He and other engineers huddled over the gun like nuns inspecting a novitiate, but they could find no flaw. Liebenberg changed the geometry of the 4006 to accommodate the pressures of the .40 S&W, allowing the cartridge to not just function with a short barrel and slide, but making it purr. The Shorty Forty became the single best-selling pistol ever produced by the Performance Center, and the basis for the currently produced Model 4013.

I got a 469 and a 669 slide... Too bad the slide doesn't exactly fit the barrel and I need to either find a smith to fit it or find a 669 barrel and see if it'll interchange (it should). I love my 2nd gen, but finding anything aftermarket is a bitch. Also anyone know someone who sells wooden grips for not the price of another gun?

he finally got more in? wow.

I don’t see how you can’t

Literally the best threads are smith auto loader threads

b/c Smith Bros

Because the Smith auto loaders are the best factory semi auto service pistols. I recently picked up a SIG P229 with the short reset trigger and the trigger is still way worse than on my 5906 and 469. It's much mushier and the reset is almost twice as long. Only thing the P229 has going for it are the ergos and holster compatibility.

Smith really hit a home run with the triggers

Based

The tsw versions have excellent quality on par with west german sigs, s&w should open the lines again for the premium duty pistol niche. With good marketing they could dent the pajeet sig market share

They should, especially because that new Walther Q5 is getting hyped

I'm gonna be honest. That just makes me quake in fear of what the Exetershit's trigger is actually like. My 5903 is a pretty gun, but it's the worst trigger I've ever owned. I've considered sending it up to some retired Team S&W smiths through some friends of mine, but by that point, you're investing good money into what amounts to a memegun when you could put that toward a much better semicustom pistol.

Stock service triggers ain't nothing to eritr home about. But for like 90 bucks you can get them polished and smoothed, then they are some of thr best triggers. Performance center does on the ones they made.
